Green Bay Packers finally get Rodgers a top receiver in 7-round mock draft
Green Bay Packers 2021 mock draft: Rounds 5-7
Round 5, Pick 178: Tommy Kraemer, IOL, Notre Dame
Depth on the interior of the offensive line is of increased importance for the Packers after the departure of Corey Linsley in free agency. So grabbing an experienced and quality player like Tommy Kraemer late in the fifth round would make sense for Green Bay. Kraemer’s physical abilities don’t jump off the page but he’s savvy on the inside and could give some quality reps if called upon early on.
Round 6, Pick 214: Demetric Felton, WR, UCLA
At this point in the draft, Green Bay and every team is taking fliers on players who have upside and potential value, even if they don’t fit a dire need or even a clear role.
That’s why Demetric Felton is an obvious pick here. The UCLA product played running back for the Bruins and produced well but has transitioned to wide receiver at the Senior Bowl and throughout the pre-draft process. He’s a weapon that can be deployed in a variety of ways and could be an asset to further expand the Green Bay offense.
Round 6, Pick 220: Avery Williams, CB, Boise State
After taking Melifonwu, my belief is that the Packers cornerback room still needs more help. That’s why they take a late-round swing on a player with Avery Williams’ talents. He’s small at 5-9, 197 pounds but he has good reactive athleticism and agility to potentially be an option for Green Bay in the slot. Throw in his versatility and experience on special teams and he could be an asset they find late in the draft.
Round 7, Pick 256: Ryan McCollum, IOL, Texas A&M
Again, depth is the only real concern for the Packers when you look at the interior of the O-line as they should be able to field a good starting unit. But that means going back to the well at this spot to end the 2021 NFL Draft.
Ryan McCollum garnered a ton of experience in college and, while he does lack some technique and functional strength, his overall body of work speaks to a player who could step in and perform well enough in a pinch.
