Seattle Seahawks: Jackson Carman, OT, Clemson

This offseason almost got really bad for the Seattle Seahawks this offseason as Russell Wilson let it be known he’s frustrated with the lack of blocking. There were even rumors that this was going to be the end of the relationship between Wilson and Seattle — and this wasn’t even the first year where such rumors surfaced.

In the end, Wilson remained with the team that drafted him and Seattle showed they are going to try and help him out as they brought in veteran Gabe Jackson. They’re also not terrible at tackle with Duane Brown and Brandon Shell on the roster.

Having said that, Brown is 36 years of age so it’s not as if he’s going to be around forever. This means Seattle needs to groom a replacement and without a first-round pick, they might need to look for someone such as Jackson Carman.

The Clemson product played on the blindside for the Tigers but some think he needs to move inside to guard. That’s not always true — and it seems as though every tackle prospect is supposed to move to guard this season so that should be taken with a grain of salt.

In Seattle, Carman can groom behind Brown and Shell and eventually move into the starting lineup. And if he proves to be a poor fit on the outside and has to move to guard, they at least get someone who can be a long-term starter on their line.
