NFL Draft: Re-drafting every first-round pick from 2017 NFL Draft: 10, TE George Kittle
Originally selected 146th overall (+136)
With Patrick Mahomes off the board, fans of the Kansas City Chiefs will undoubtedly be acrimonious. They effectively stole the best player in the draft, and possibly the best player in the league but are now left with solid but supremely underwhelming Alex Smith.
Welp, it’s time to look ahead.
Smith has always been a decent quarterback. Someone who won’t take a ton of risk down the field but instead, he’ll make the sensible play. Not very exciting but hey, this is what the Chiefs have. So to help him expand his game a bit more, we’ll give the Chiefs tight end George Kittle.
At the moment, it’s a toss-up between Kittle and Travis Kelce in terms of who’s the best tight end in the business. But to have both guys on the same team? That might just be enough to put this squad over the top. In both 2018 and 2019, Kittle cracked the thousand yard barrier. He was also given back-to-back Pro Bowl nods and an All-Pro selection. He’s almost a mirror image of Kelce. Meaning, he’s big, strong and ridiculously productive.
With both guys in the lineup, it’ll quiet some of the complaining from Chiefs fans for missing out on their guy. Well, actually, not really. But he’s a great consolation prize.
