NFL Draft: Redrafting the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft 31. Chris Jones

Originally selected 37th overall (+6)

Germain Ifedi was a really good offensive lineman for Texas A&M at the college level. That said, things wouldn’t work out for him as well at the pro level. He was never a bad offensive lineman, he just never really met his full potential. At least not yet.

That said, the Seattle Seahawks would like a do-over in the 2016 NFL Draft.

With their second shot, they’ll take defensive tackle Chris Jones, who is currently tearing it up with the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Seahawks were looking for a defensive tackle in this draft but thought they got a steal in Ifedi. In this scenario, they know who is good, which is why they’ll get an actual steal in Chris Jones. The only reason Jones fell this far is that most teams were looking for instant impact out of players, while Seattle would have loved a long-term player like Jones.

Originally, Jones was taken with the 37th-overall pick, so he won’t see much of a change in this draft. That said, he would have caught the tail-end of the Legion of Boom and learned from one of the best defenses of all time.

Jones would have been a great fit for a Seattle team that has always played strong defense. They would love a defensive tackle of his skill set on their 2021 team.
