NFL: Creating the all-time roster with football’s legends: DE, Reggie White

Career stats:

  • 198 sacks
  • 1,111 combined tackles

Accolades:

  • 13 time Pro Bowler
  • 8 time All-Pro
  • 2 time Defensive Player of the Year
  • 1 time Super Bowl Champ

In terms of getting their hands on the quarterback, we already have an extremely proficient to get the job done in Michael Strahan. But, he’ll need some help. To make sure that teams won’t simply double and triple-team him, we’ll place all-world defensive end Reggie White next to him.

For roughly 15 years, White was at the top of the food chain in terms of defensive ends. He was a 13-time Pro Bowler and 13-time All-Pro selection. The moment he was eligible, White was enshrined in the Hall of Fame. Despite facing double teams on a nightly basis, White still managed to become one of the most productive defensive ends of all time. His 198 sacks rank second, only to Bruce Smith.

With two Defensive Player of the Year awards to his name, White’s dominance didn’t fade once the lights got brighter, in fact, he only got better. Although it’s been nearly two decades since he’s stepped onto a football field, White still holds the record for the most sacks in a Super Bowl with three. It doesn’t matter who’s lined up against him, if it’s a one on one game, the defender stands no chance.
