30 NFL players fans loved to loathe
NFL History: 30 players fans loved to loathe: 22. Odell Beckham Jr.
The crowd stood silent, the coaching staff placed their hands over their mouths, and fans watching at home were frozen in time.
In 2014, Odell Beckham Jr. went from talented but little-known receiver to must-see television. In what appeared to be an overthrown pass by quarterback Eli Manning, Beckham Jr. reached back and somehow caught the ball. The play was being hailed as “the greatest catch of all time” and Beckham Jr. saw his popularity go through the roof.
Yet, with all of the intention he began receiving, it appeared as though Beckham Jr. became the biggest diva in the history of mankind. He pouted on the sidelines whenever he didn’t touch the ball and consistently blew up seemingly for no reason. He famously attacked a kicking net and was hit in the face while doing so. Ironically enough, shortly after, he also proposed to that same net. We think it said yes.
Beckham Jr. has continued to claim that he’s the best receiver in the league but his play on the field hasn’t lived up to the hype.
Whenever he steps onto the field, almost no one is booed louder. All Beckham Jr. does in response is ignore the noise and attempt to go out there and win games.
Even now, coming off several injury-riddled seasons, his own Cleveland Brown fanbase has turned on him, claiming that the team is better without him. His diva actions will undoubtedly continue and the hate will of course follow. By the time he hangs up his cleats, there’s a good chance he takes the top spot on this list.
