NFL History: 30 players fans loved to loathe: 11. Ray Rice

Ray Rice was a workhorse of a player during his time in the league. For four straight seasons, fans knew exactly what the Baltimore Ravens were going to do. Quarterback Joe Flacco wasn’t a reliable thrower of the football but when it came to handing the ball to Rice, it was virtually a guarantee that he was going to secure a touchdown.

Rice was terrific during his short prime. Fans may have booed him to no end but they simply couldn’t stop him once he got going downhill. In his second to last season, Rice helped lead the Ravens to a Super Bowl win.

The boos that were chucked in the direction of Rice was now replaced with middle fingers and curse words as he was arrested for domestic violence. While the allegations were bad enough, Rice appeared to be in the clear. With that said, once the video surfaced of the actual incident, Rice was banished from the league. At the age of 26, Rice received death threats and was condemned for his actions. While he would eventually rebuild his image, fans still let him have it whenever he was in the public eye.
