NFL History: 30 players fans loved to loathe: 24. Jay Cutler
Jay Cutler was just good enough to piss off opposing fan bases and his own. The longtime Chicago Bear always flashed enough talent to keep the starting job. When he was on, he was as good as anyone in the league.
Cutler would easily and routinely mount double-digit comebacks and cap off the night with a game-winning touchdown. As he left opposing arenas to nonstop boo’s, Chicago fans weren’t exactly welcoming. No matter who you asked, whether it was front office personnel, defensive coordinators or the opposition, they all raved about how good Cutler was in the pocket and how strong his arm was. With that said, he was never known for having the strongest work ethic and his lack of playoff success led to relentless booing from the home crowd.
One of Cutler’s biggest fans and defenders was former Pro Bowl wide receiver, Brandon Marshall. Getting him to say a single bad word about Cutler was virtually impossible but once he hung his cleats up for good, he took the kid gloves off. Whether it was the fans on the road, in his own building or even his own teammates, Jay Cutler wasn’t exactly a very liked football player.
