One NFL legend every team wishes they could bring back in 2021

Washington Football Team: Sammy Baugh, Quarterback
This one feels almost like cheating since I am a firm believer in the magic that Ryan Fitzpatrick brings to a team. And after landing him in free agency, the Washington Football Team is slated to start the veteran journeyman who has the absolute best beard in the business.
Fitzpatrick is also a guy who the team just feeds off of. He’s a natural leader and very charismatic. Having said all that, he hasn’t had tremendous success as a quarterback outside of few seasons. A lot of that could be the situation he has been in but he’s still just 59-86-1 as a starter.
With that all being said, and with the utmost respect to FitzMagic, the choice here for a returning legend in D.C. is none other than “Slingin” Sammy Baugh. The star quarterback for the Football Team, Baugh was with them from 1937 through 1952 and he was a revolutionary player.
Back when he came into the league, the NFL was run-heavy but Baugh was all about the forward pass. He was called an innovator as he ended up throwing for 21,886 yards and 187 touchdowns while everyone else was still running the ball and tossing laterals.
He wasn’t just a strong arm either as Baugh played some cornerback and was even known for his ability to punt the ball. Still, it was his play as a quarterback that made him stand out.
Slingin’ Sammy is credited with changing the game and even has his No. 33 retired in Washington.
