NFL Power Rankings, Preseason Week 2: Zach Wilson gives Jets hope
By Randy Gurzi
Rookie Jaret Patterson had a breakout performance for the Washington Football Team, running 71 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries. He added another 25 yards on three receptions, which was quite the night for the Buffalo product.
It won’t be enough to unseat Antonio Gibson by any means, but it could help him win a job on this team. And suddenly, this Football Team looks like one to watch.
They were 7-9 under Ron Rivera last season, his first with the club. But now, they enter year two and look for more. The quarterback play should be better, the depth at running back is better, and their defense was already pretty good but now the young guys have more experience. This could be a dark-horse team to watch.
The Indianapolis Colts game ended with a 12-10 victory over the Minnesota Vikings but that’s not the big takeaway from this weekend.
The real positive news to get the franchise excited is the report that Carson Wentz is already coming back from surgery.
Head coach Frank Reich also said Quenton Nelson will be back as well, which is huge for them. They’re trying to get back to the playoffs and doing so with Jacob Eason doesn’t seem as feasible as it does with Carson Wentz.
Also, Nelson is one of the best linemen in the entire NFL, so the hope that they can both be on the field in Week 1 is huge.
