NFL Week 2 Winner: Derrick Henry, PPR King

After a subpar start to his season, Derrick Henry is a winner outright because the Titans running back showed up in the second half of a comeback win against the Seahawks looking like the unstoppable tank that we’ve come to know and love. He finished the game with 35 carries for 182 yards and three touchdowns.

But fantasy football managers are double-taking around the country because Henry was also tied for the team lead in receptions on Sunday with six, going for 55 yards. He now has nine receptions on the year, just 10 shy of his career-high for a single season. All hail our new PPR King — okay, so it’s probably not going to last. But at least it’s been fun to watch to start the year.

NFL Week 2 Loser: Post-Lasik Jameis Hype

Full disclosure, I’m not totally blaming Jameis Winston for not being great in NFL Week 2. The Saints were without eight coaches against the Panthers, which is a tough roadblock to overcome.

With that said, the ultra-efficient and mostly conservative version of the “post-Lasik” Winston we saw in Week 1 as he threw five touchdowns was nowhere to be seen against Carolina. He rushed for a score but was abysmal as a passer, going 11-of-22 for only 111 yards and throwing two picks, one of which was a classic “chuck it and pray” attempt we saw too many times in Tampa.

Who knows what we’re going to get week-to-week with Winston helming the Saints offense at this point. But it does feel safe to say that anyone who thought that Week 1 was the precursor to a magical career turnaround might need to pump the brakes.
