NFL Week 2 Winner: Lamar Jackson and the Ravens

Getting past an opponent that has been a thorn in a team’s side can be a galvanizing thing. So the Ravens clearly wanted to overcome the Chiefs, a team that Lamar Jackson and Co. have battled but have not gotten past. That changed on Sunday Night Football and the former NFL MVP at quarterback was the driving force.

How do you not come away excited about the Ravens? Jackson was his old self with 107 rushing yards and two touchdowns but also put the team on his back after two costly turnovers early in the game and carried them to the win with his arm and legs alike.

This is a team that has been dealt a bad injury hand already but they’re not giving up. They took on the defending AFC champs and scored a monumental comeback win. That can’t be understated in importance.

NFL Week 2 Loser: Miami Dolphins

Losing Tua Tagovailoa to a rib injury (though he’s fortunately listed as day-to-day now) made things worse, but the Miami Dolphins are still not the AFC East contenders we’d hoped they’d be. They’re a good team, without question, but the rebuild isn’t done just yet.

The offensive line is the glaring weakness right now. It’s why Tua took the hit that got him knocked out of the NFL Week 2 game and it’s been an issue for 120 minutes thus far. The defense hasn’t been as dominant as they could be either.

But in any case, it’s obvious that the Bills still own the Dolphins and Miami is second-fiddle in the division.
