2022 NFL Mock Draft: Jets land superstar EDGE, Eagles triple-dip on defense
By Randy Gurzi
12. Philadelphia Eagles: Christian Harris, LB, Alabama
After moving around some due to trades before the draft, the Philadelphia Eagles had the No. 12 selection in 2021. They then decided on draft night to send that pick to one of their main rivals, the Dallas Cowboys, along with a third-round selection to jump ahead of the New York Giants for Alabama wide receiver DeVonta Smith.
In this mock draft, the scenario is similar. The Giants are at No. 11 again and the Eagles are at 12. However, we aren’t anywhere near close enough to the actual draft to attempt predicting any trades so instead, we have Philly staying put but still going after an Alabama player.
Their selection is Christian Harris as they now add arguably the best linebacker in the class to go along with their first pick earlier in this mock, Derek Stingley — who is the consensus No. 1 cornerback in the class.
Adding Harris gives them a linebacker who can move all over the field. His length and athleticism make him well worth the high selection and now the Eagles defense suddenly has two players capable of making big plays for them. As long as Jalen Hurts turns out to be their guy, this team could be on their way to becoming contenders quickly. And they still have another pick on the way thanks to their trade down with Miami in 2021.
