Quarterly MVP odds: +450 Justin Herbert

Quarterback Justin Herbert placed the NFL world on noticed last year during his rookie season. The former number six overall pick threw a rookie record 31 touchdowns. But, regardless of his ability to sling it, the Los Angeles Chargers continued to lose games with him under center.

While the wins came few and far between, everyone saw the skills of Herbert. Fast forward one year later and he’s currently tied with Kyler Murray as the most likely MVP winner this year. The Chargers have officially gone from hopeless to contenders overnight.

The AFC West isn’t a walk in the park. In fact, you could make the argument that it’s currently the most stacked division in the NFL. That said, it’s the Chargers, not the Las Vegas Raiders, whom the Chargers beat down in Week 4, and not the Kansas City Chiefs with Patrick Mahomes, a team the Chargers took down on their home turf, but its the Los Angeles based team that leads the AFC West.

In the end, it’ll take the Chargers winning somewhere in the realm of 13 games for Herbert to walk away with the hardware. Considering that the Chargers currently have a team that holds a top ten ranking both offensively and defensively, Kyler Murray is going to have to continue to ball out to keep the young gun off his back.
