Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. OT. Ikem Ekwonu. 5. 31. NC State. player

5. New York Giants: Ikem Ekwonu, OT, NC State

There’s no denying the New York Giants have a tough road ahead of them. Brian Daboll comes in with an impressive resume and he was instrumental in turning Josh Allen into a star. However, there’s no way they can truly expect him to do the same thing with Daniel Jones.

On top of that, there are holes all over the roster. The good news is, they get two very high draft picks in this class starting at No. 5. Here, they take Ikem Ekwonu from North Carolina State to solidify their offensive line – which was not fixed by Dave Gettleman despite his promise to do just that.

There will still need to be several other moves for them to become contenders but this could at least give Daboll a sturdy enough line to really evaluate Jones as his signal-caller.

Northern Iowa. Pick Analysis. OT. Trevor Penning. 6. player. 87. Scouting Report

6. Carolina Panthers: Trevor Penning, OT, Northern Iowa

The Carolina Panthers are another team that desperately needs to fix their offensive line and they make huge strides in that endeavor with the selection of Trevor Penning from Northern Iowa. Penning looked like a star in college but there were some concerns due to the level of competition he faced.

Having said that, he should have put much of that to bed when he dominated at the Senior Bowl. While those few practices shouldn’t completely sway opinions, it did prove that what Penning put on tape for UNI will translate no matter who he’s playing against.
