Denver Broncos mock draft, final pick

12. Seventh Round: Kennedy Brooks, RB, Oklahoma

Wait, doesn’t Denver already have Melvin Gordon and Javonte Williams? Ok, so what? At this point in the draft, it’s a game of making sure you secure a player to avoid him going into UDFA. In this case, it just happens to be a productive running back that may allow Denver to move on from Gordon in the future and secure another running mate for Williams to continue a two-headed backfield.

Unlike with the quarterback position, where having more than one starter is an issue, having a loaded backfield isn’t necessarily bad. Kennedy Brooks knows how to manage a workload and share time in the backfield. Moreover, he is productive, evidenced by racking up 1,253 and 13 touchdowns last season.

He may not be the speed demon that teams are constantly begging for, but he has enough game speed that cannot be clocked. Moreover, fresher legs and an underdog minded work-ethic can play well into Brooks’ hands. All it takes is a chance, and Brooks gets his opportunity to help add to a strong Denver backfield.
