Chandler Jones landing spot no. 2: Indianapolis Colts

The Indianapolis Colts played shut down defense in the 2021 NFL Season. They ended the year surrendering an average of 21 points per game. However, they totaled just 32 sacks, placing them 19th in the NFL. They currently have six defensive linemen set to hit free agency with nearly $70 million in cap space. Spending a chink of that money on an edge rusher like Chandler Jones could be beneficial.

Gus Bradley’s defense relies on pressure from his front four. They don’t blitz often. In fact, they only blitzed 20% on dropbacks. Jones could play opposite of second-year pro, Kwity Paye, giving them bookend edge rushers.

Chandler Jones landing spot no. 1: Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals had a historic run that shocked the NFL. After years of mediocrity and disappointing playoff exits, the Bengals made it to the Super Bowl. Now they have a target on their back and expectations riding high. Their goal should and will see them focus on recapturing the AFC North.

They have a lot of cap space and a young quarterback on a rookie deal. A player like Chandler Jones is the type of player they need to elevate an already solid defense.

Fans know Mike Brown (General Manager) for his frugal spending habits, but a player like Jones doesn’t come around very often. He should break the bank and bring in Jones to play alongside Sam Hubbard.

They’ll need another pass rusher with Lamar Jackson coming back and facing the Browns, who have one of the best offensive lines in the NFL. The Steelers aren’t going anywhere, especially if they land DeShaun Watson.

Jones will feed off the North and help a winning franchise with a beloved quarterback, Joe Burrow.
