Davis joins the Jets in free agency

Contract projection: 3-years, $60 million

Another team hoping to surround their former top quarterback with good talent (a common theme on this list), the Jets will likely look to spend quite a bit of their cap space in order to take the best available player once it is their turn in the draft. In order to do that, landing a top cornerback would go a long way in fixing some of the issues on this defense.

Carlton Davis is easily the second-best cornerback to hit the market this offseason and he should have plenty of suitors for his services. He has quietly developed into one of the best coverage corners in the league and has the proper technique and athleticism to cover anyone in the league. Given his age (he is only 25) and it is likely Davis continues to play at a high level the next five seasons.

The issue with Davis lies in his health. While not constantly missing huge chunks of the season, Davis has never played more than 14 games in a season. While his play on the field is excellent, his injury history keeps him from becoming the top paid cornerback in the league. That said, the Jets still pony up quite a bit of money to lock up the talented cornerback. He should help get this secondary back on track in 2022.
