Predicting where the 6 NFL free agents sign in free agency

Jones joins the Jets in free agency
Contract projection: 3-years, $51 million
Another big-name lands with the Jets, as they improve upon both their coverage ability as well as their ability to actually get after the quarterback. Similar to Miller, Chandler Jones is a player that is past his prime, but he has proven to still be an effective and efficient pass rusher despite his age. He won’t reset the market given his age, but he should still command a hefty contract.
The Jets need to retool this defense in a major way. Assuming the offense makes the necessary changes and develops into a more cohesive unit, the defense will have to keep pace. The best way to do that is a daunting pass rush. Jones can no longer do it all on his own, but mixed in with some of the other pieces on this defense and Jones should still be effective.
Jones gets considerably more money than Miller did, but that boils down to him being better for all of last season and being younger than Miller is at this point. Both should be looking to get paid from teams ready to build around rookie quarterbacks and compete. The Jets are just that, as they aggressively target defense in the offseason to prepare their team for success in 2022.
