NFL 2022: Ranking the top 43 quarterbacks in the league
No. 4 NFL quarterback in 2022: Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals
It’s hard to recall a quarterback having as much immediate success as we’ve seen from Joe Burrow.
In his final season at LSU, Burrow went from being pretty much an unknown to the football masses to having the best season for a quarterback in college football history.
He was the obvious no. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft and saw a solid rookie season cut short by a devastating hit and subsequent knee injury.
He came back with a chip on his shoulder in 2021 and led the Cincinnati Bengals on a huge run in the second half of the season, which included some tough wins in a variety of cities that it’s just downright hard to get wins in late in the year.
Perhaps the most impressive win of Burrow’s career so far is the overtime victory in Kansas City in the playoffs. It’s hard to go toe-to-toe with Patrick Mahomes in a shootout. Many have tried, and most have failed.
Burrow simply kept making plays, including avoiding being sacked late in the game to extend a scoring drive.
Burrow is elite at avoiding pressure in the pocket. He’s outstanding at distributing the ball to his enviable collection of targets.
He’s accurate, he’s got plenty of arm talent to all levels of the field, and he’s smart.
He’s simply a superstar.
