NFL 2022: One undrafted free agent from every team that could make the roster
By Randy Gurzi
Green Bay Packers: Danny Davis, WR, Wisconsin
There’s been a lot of change this offseason for the Green Bay Packers at the wide receiver position. They traded their longtime No. 1 option, Davante Adams, to the Las Vegas Raiders for a couple of first-round picks and waited until the second round of the NFL Draft to find a potential replacement.
That’s where they landed Christian Watson from North Dakota State, who is expected to start opposite Randall Cobb and Allen Lazard. Green Bay also has veteran Sammy Watkins — who they signed this offseason — 2021 third-round pick Amari Rodgers, and 2022 fourth-round pick Romeo Doubs.
However, Rodgers didn’t do much as a rookie and Watkins could have put himself behind the eight-ball by not showing up for OTAs. While he does have experience, Watkins has spent a lot of time injured and hasn’t done enough to guarantee a spot — especially if he’s the No. 4 guy and won’t contribute on special teams. He surely needs all the work he can get with his new team and opened the door for others by not coming in.
All of that is why rookie Danny Davis could find a spot on the team this season. Davis played locally for the Wisconsin Badgers and put up 131 receptions for 1,642 yards with 14 touchdowns in his career. He also has experience on both punt and kickoff returns, which could help him secure a spot.
