2022 NFL Top Head Coaching List No. 8: Sean McDermott, Buffalo Bills
Sean McDermott was a former defensive coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles and Carolina Panthers who finally got his shot at being a head coach in 2017 with the Buffalo Bills. Since then, he’s won 49 games with just 32 losses and has a 3-4 record in the postseason as well.
What’s been most impressive about McDermott’s tenure is the development of Josh Allen. Their top pick from the 2018 NFL Draft has become one of the biggest stars in the game and while McDermott has a defensive background, he deserves a lot of credit for that as well.
2022 NFL Top Head Coaching List No. 7: Mike Vrabel, Tennessee Titans
It’s hard to pinpoint exactly what makes Mike Vrabel so good as a head coach since he has a defensive-minded background but the Tennessee Titans don’t always have an elite defense. They also don’t have a top-10 quarterback with Ryan Tannehill under center but they constantly remain competitive and even took the No. 1 seed in the AFC last season.
What was even more impressive was Vrabel leading his team to that top spot despite losing Derrick Henry to an injury for the toughest part of the season.
His team believes in him and they’re always prepared, that says a lot about Vrabel.
