NFL preseason matchup no. 3: Ron Rivera Bowl

Ron Rivera coached the 2015 Carolina Panthers to the Super Bowl where they faced a tough Denver defense and failed to claim the franchise’s first Lombardi.

Week 1 of the preseason will bring his former team to Washington for an interesting matchup.

Both teams have questions, especially around the offense, and week 1 of preseason should give us something to start answering these questions.

Carolina does not just have to solve their QB issues, they have to figure out the offensive line. Ikem “Icky” Ekwonu is a great talent that hopefully, we will get to see in week 1.

The offensive line should be an interesting position group to watch for the Panthers while you keep track of the frontrunner for the QB job.

The Commanders also have their issues on the offensive side of the ball, but most likely not a QB battle. They have Carson Wentz who almost took the Colts to the postseason last season.

He could play this game and it would be interesting to see how he performs in a less favorable environment for a QB, in comparison to Indy.

If he does not play, though, there are plenty of players to watch out for such as newcomers Jahan Dotson and Sam Howell. The Ron Rivera bowl has plenty to offer and should be a fun watch in week 1 of the preseason.
