NFL preseason matchup no. 2: Year two head coach duel

Dan Campbell had a tough season in year one with the Detroit Lions. He did well with what he had and truly cared about the success of the team and his guys. His opponent in week 1 of the preseason is Arthur Smith.

Smith was also in his first year as a head coach last season but with the Atlanta Falcons.

Dan Campbell’s team seems to be much improved. The offensive and defensive lines appear to be strengths of the team.

Top draft pick Aidan Hutchinson will be one to watch in this game. The wide receiver room appears to have been drastically improved upon and it will be interesting to see the newcomers take the field if they decide they need to.

Jameson Williams and D.J. Chark are both exciting pieces that could change the Detroit offense for the better in 2022.

The Falcons had an interesting offseason that involved parting ways with their long-time franchise QB, Matt Ryan.

They are in a rebuild and there are a few huge pieces to watch for in week 1 of the preseason.

Among them are the top pick, Drake London, and day two QB Desmond Ridder.

London has the potential to be a great #1 WR in this league and Ridder could be Ryan’s successor if Smith can find the best way to set him up for success.

Both should be fun watches in the preseason. Week 1 seems as good as any time to catch them as they take on the Detroit Lions.
