Fantasy Football continues to grow, so we offer up a mock draft in a 12-team Points Per Reception league, aiming to find value in every round
No fan can escape it. Fantasy Football is everywhere. It’s gotten so popular that NFL game day tickers often show players who are atop the leaderboards in points scored in fantasy.
In order to prepare for the season, we’re offering up a 2022 mock draft in a 12-team PPR league through ESPN. We ended up with pick No. 8 in a random draw. Let’s dive in and look at how each round goes while trying to figure out which positions fellow managers target in each round.
12-team PPR fantasy football mock draft

Fantasy Football Mock Draft 2022: Round 1
- Team 1: Christian McCaffrey, RB, Carolina Panthers
- Team 2: Jonathan Taylor, RB, Indianapolis Colts
- Team 3: Derrick Henry, RB, Tennessee Titans
- Team 4: Justin Jefferson, WR, Minnesota Vikings
- Team 5: Cooper Kupp, WR, Los Angeles Rams
- Team 6: Ja’Marr Chase, WR, Cincinnati Bengals
- Team 7: Austin Ekeler, RB, Los Angeles Chargers
- *Team 8: Najee Harris, RB, Pittsburgh Steelers
- Team 9: Joe Mixon, RB, Cincinnati Bengals
- Team 10: Dalvin Cook, RB, Minnesota Vikings
- Team 11: Davante Adams, WR, Las Vegas Raiders
- Team 12: Alvin Kamara, RB, New Orleans Saints
The first pick in this mock was Christian McCaffrey, which can be a home run if he stays healthy. Not only does he get a ton of yards as a runner, but he catches a lot of passes, which is huge in a PPR league.
Of course, the “if” with him is huge. McCaffrey has played just 10 games in the past two seasons, so this one is buyer beware.
Wide receivers will fly off the board in this league, and that started with Justin Jefferson, Cooper Kupp, and Ja’Marr Chase. As for the No. 8 pick we ended up with, the choice was a running back who will rack up the points due to receptions.
Najee Harris had 1,200 yards rushing as a rookie and added 74 receptions as well. With either Mitchell Trubisky or Kenny Pickett under center, he should continue to see the passes come his way, making him a solid pick near the end of Round 1.

Fantasy Football Mock Draft 2022: Round 2
- Team 12: Leonard Fournette, RB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
- Team 11: Deebo Samuel, WR, San Francisco 49ers
- Team 10: D’Andre Swift, RB, Detroit Lions
- Team 9: Stefon Diggs, WR, Buffalo Bills
- *Team 8: Mark Andrews, TE, Baltimore Ravens
- Team 7: CeeDee Lamb, WR, Dallas Cowboys
- Team 6: Patrick Mahomes, QB, Kansas City Chiefs
- Team 5: Javonte Williams, RB, Denver Broncos
- Team 4: Travis Kelce, TE, Kansas City Chiefs
- Team 3: Tyreek Hill, WR, Miami Dolphins
- Team 2: Aaron Jones, RB, Green Bay Packers
- Team 1: Keenan Allen, WR, Los Angeles Chargers
Being in a snake draft means we ended up on the clock much earlier in the second round. This time, the selection was Mark Andrews, which might not seem popular with so many wideouts coming off the board.
But elite tight ends are hard to find, and Andrews is about as good as they get at the position. In 2021, he ended up with 107 receptions for 1,361 yards and nine touchdowns. That was without Lamar Jackson for part of the year, so he could be even better this season.
Travis Kelce was another option and CeeDee Lamb felt like a solid bet as well but Andrews is a player on the rise and is about as safe of a pick as there is.

Fantasy Football Mock Draft 2022: Round 3
- Team 1: Nick Chubb, RB, Cleveland Browns
- Team 2: Saquon Barkley, RB, New York Giants
- Team 3: James Conner, RB, Arizona Cardinals
- Team 4: Cam Akers, RB, Los Angeles Rams
- Team 5: Tee Higgins, WR, Cincinnati Bengals
- Team 6: Kyle Pitts, TE, Atlanta Falcons
- Team 7: DJ Moore, WR, Carolina Panthers
- *Team 8: Mike Evans, WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
- Team 9: Jaylen Waddle, WR, Miami Dolphins
- Team 10: J.K. Dobbins, RB, Baltimore Ravens
- Team 11: Michael Pittman Jr., WR, Indianapolis Colts
- Team 12: Diontae Johnson, WR, Pittsburgh Steelers
In Round 3, we finally picked up a wideout, taking Mike Evans from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Evans is a big-bodied wideout at 6-foot-5 and 231 pounds. He’s built like a tight end but he moves like a wideout and has never had a season with fewer than 1,000 yards.
Since Tom Brady joined, he’s excelled in the red zone, catching 13 touchdowns in 2020 and 14 this past season. Hopefully, the two will continue this trend, and we shouldn’t worry too much about Brady spending time working on his singing career since he’s always ready to roll.
Diontae Johnson is another name to consider at this point, but with some uncertainty under center — plus already taking a Pittsburgh player in Round 1 — Evans feels like the safe pick here.

Fantasy Football Mock Draft 2022: Round 4
- Team 12: Courtland Sutton, WR, Denver Broncos
- Team 11: David Montgomery, RB, Chicago Bears
- Team 10: A.J. Brown, WR, Philadelphia Eagles
- Team 9: Breece Hall, RB, New York Jets
- *Team 8: Josh Allen, QB, Buffalo Bills
- Team 7: Ezekiel Elliott, RB, Dallas Cowboys
- Team 6: Darren Waller, TE, Las Vegas Raiders
- Team 5: Terry McLaurin, WR, Washington Commanders
- Team 4: Josh Jacobs, RB, Las Vegas Raiders
- Team 3: Antonio Gibson, RB, Washington Commanders
- Team 2: Mike Williams, WR, Los Angeles Chargers
- Team 1: Dalton Schultz, TE, Dallas Cowboys
Some might think Round 4 is too early to go for a quarterback, and there is some truth that there’s plenty of value later in the draft at the position. But then again, visored Josh Allen is just too impressive to pass on.
Allen was one of the quarterbacks with the most questions in the 2018 NFL Draft and now, he’s arguably the best of that class. He threw for 4,407 yards with 36 touchdowns last season and adds a ton of value as a runner.
He’s never rushed for fewer than six touchdowns — which he had in 2021 but also went for 763 yards — and averages 5.5 yards per attempt. Throw in the disappointment he suffered in the 2021 playoffs and he’s going to be even more motivated to go off this season.
One interesting note is how far Ezekiel Elliott fell in this mock. Round 4 is late for someone who was recently a hot No. 1 pick. But that shows how much the Dallas Cowboys are expected to use Tony Pollard this season.

Fantasy Football Mock Draft 2022: Round 5
- Team 1: Justin Herbert, QB, Los Angeles Chargers
- Team 2: Marquise Brown, WR, Arizona Cardinals
- Team 3: Brandin Cooks, WR, Houston Texans
- Team 4: DK Metcalf, WR, Seattle Seahawks
- Team 5: Travis Etienne Jr., RB, Jacksonville Jaguars
- Team 6: George Kittle, TE, San Francisco 49ers
- Team 7: Jerry Jeudy, WR, Denver Broncos
- *Team 8: Gabriel Davis, WR, Buffalo Bills
- Team 9: Chris Godwin, WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
- Team 10: Amon-Ra St. Brown, WR, Detroit Lions
- Team 11: Elijah Mitchell, RB, San Francisco 49ers
- Team 12: Darnell Mooney, WR, Chicago Bears
Another wideout is the pick here as Gabriel Davis comes off the board in Round 5, and he’s the second Buffalo Bills player we grab. It’s never a bad idea to double up by grabbing a wideout and quarterback from the same team as you’ll start to rack up the points when those two go off.
Speaking of going off, that’s exactly what Davis did in the Divisional Round of the 2021 NFL Playoffs. Against the Kansas City Chiefs, Davis pulled in eight of 10 targets for 201 yards with four touchdowns.
That was a huge performance considering he had just 35 receptions for 549 yards with six touchdowns during the season. Having said that, the departure of Emmanuel Sanders and Cole Beasley will lead to more targets for Davis and he proved he can handle this with ease. This could be a breakout year for him, and our fantasy team would benefit from that.

Fantasy Football Mock Draft 2022: Round 6
- Team 12: Michael Thomas, WR, New Orleans Saints
- Team 11: Lamar Jackson, QB, Baltimore Ravens
- Team 10: Amari Cooper, WR, Cleveland Browns
- Team 9: Kyler Murray, QB, Arizona Cardinals
- *Team 8: Elijah Moore, WR, New York Jets
- Team 7: Miles Sanders, RB, Philadelphia Eagles
- Team 6: Matt Gay, K, Los Angeles Rams
- Team 5: Allen Robinson II, WR, Los Angeles Rams
- Team 4: Devin Singletary, RB, Buffalo Bills
- Team 3: Jalen Hurts, QB, Philadelphia Eagles
- Team 2: Adam Thielen, WR, Minnesota Vikings
- Team 1: Brandon Aiyuk, WR, San Francisco 49ers
The sixth-round starts out with Michael Thomas, who hasn’t played since 2020 — and only made it through seven games that season. There’s a lot of upside there if he proves to be healthy.
Amari Cooper also comes off the board although his stock is hurt by the Deshaun Watson suspension. A couple of other interesting names include Lamar Jackson, Kyler Murray, and Jalen Hurts as quarterbacks who can gain yards on the ground start to get called upon.
A concerning pick happened as well as Team 6 took a kicker, which should be grounds for disqualification in Round 6.
For us, the pick is Elijah Moore, who had 43 receptions for 538 yards and five touchdowns as a rookie. He should take a step forward in year two, although he might also have to be on the bench until Zach Wilson is healthy since Joe Flacco is still Joe Flacco.

Fantasy Football Mock Draft 2022: Round 7
- Team 1: Cordarrelle Patterson, RB, Atlanta Falcons
- Team 2: Clyde Edwards-Helaire, RB, Kansas City Chiefs
- Team 3: Hunter Renfrow, WR, Las Vegas Raiders
- Team 4: Dak Prescott, QB, Dallas Cowboys
- Team 5: Tom Brady, QB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
- Team 6: Evan McPherson, K, Cincinnati Bengals
- Team 7: Aaron Rodgers, QB, Green Bay Packers
- *Team 8: Drake London, WR, Atlanta Falcons
- Team 9: T.J. Hockenson, TE, Detroit Lions
- Team 10: Joe Burrow, QB, Cincinnati Bengals
- Team 11: Rashod Bateman, WR, Baltimore Ravens
- Team 12: Kadarius Toney, WR, New York Giants
Another kicker came off the board in Round 7 and if you’re thinking of taking one in this round as well, don’t.
Some other quarterbacks get picked with Dak Prescott, Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, and Joe Burrow coming off the board. As was stated earlier, quarterbacks could be a solid value later in the draft and the mid-rounds can bring in some big names.
Our team ends up taking Drake London, the rookie receiver from the Atlanta Falcons. He did suffer a knee injury in Week 1 of the preseason but should be fine and will be the No. 1 wideout on this team. That makes him worth a roll of the dice.
Other potential breakout players in this round include Rashod Bateman who is the No. 1 receiver in Baltimore now and Kadarius Toney who should take over for the disappointing Kenny Golladay.

Fantasy Football Mock Draft 2022: Round 8
- Team 12: Allen Lazard, WR, Green Bay Packers
- Team 11: JuJu Smith-Schuster, WR, Kansas City Chiefs
- Team 10: Tyler Lockett, WR, Seattle Seahawks
- Team 9: DeVonta Smith, WR, Philadelphia Eagles
- *Team 8: AJ Dillon, RB, Green Bay Packers
- Team 7: Kareem Hunt, RB, Cleveland Browns
- Team 6: Justin Tucker, K, Baltimore Ravens
- Team 5: Damien Harris, RB, New England Patriots
- Team 4: Russell Wilson, QB, Denver Broncos
- Team 3: Dallas Goedert, TE, Philadelphia Eagles
- Team 2: Matthew Stafford, QB, Los Angeles Rams
- Team 1: Christian Kirk, WR, Jacksonville Jaguars
Anytime we think we know what the Green Bay Packers are doing, we find out that we don’t know what they’re doing.
This year, they traded Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders, which leaves the No. 1 receiver spot open. Allen Lazard could end up in that role, and he’s the pick to kick off Round 8. He’s followed by JuJu Smith-Schuster who could have a career resurgence in Kansas City.
After two more receivers come off the board, we switch it up and take A.J. Dillon — also from Green Bay. As a sophomore, Dillon put up 803 yards and five touchdowns on the ground as well as 34 receptions for 313 yards and two more touchdowns through the air.
He should continue to get looks, even with Aaron Jones, and could be in line for another big season.

Fantasy Football Mock Draft 2022: Round 9
- Team 1: Garrett Wilson, WR, New York Jets
- Team 2: Zach Ertz TE, Arizona Cardinals
- Team 3: DeAndre Hopkins, WR, Arizona Cardinals
- Team 4: Chase Claypool, WR, Pittsburgh Steelers
- Team 5: Mike Gesicki, TE, Miami Dolphins
- Team 6: Derek Carr, QB, Las Vegas Raiders
- Team 7: Pat Freiermuth, TE, Pittsburgh Steelers
- *Team 8: Rashaad Penny, RB, Seattle Seahawks
- Team 9: Robert Woods, WR, Tennessee Titans
- Team 10: Tony Pollard, RB, Dallas Cowboys
- Team 11: Rhamondre Stevenson, RB, New England Patriots
- Team 12: Trey Lance, QB, San Francisco 49ers
A former first-round pick for the Seattle Seahawks, Rashaad Penny finally got some extended carries in 2021 and made the most of his opportunities. With Chris Carson — who has since retired — out, Penny appeared in 10 games with six starts and had 749 yards and six touchdowns.
This season, he should be the starter in Seattle and could put up even better numbers. Running backs are still incredibly important in fantasy, so adding players such as Penny could be the difference between winning and losing some weeks — especially if he takes off as some expect.
DeAndre Hopkins also went in this round and he’s a name to watch. He will be one of the best wideouts in the game when he does play but has to sit out six games due to a suspension. If you can afford to keep him on the bench until he returns, this could be a huge pick-up.

Fantasy Football Mock Draft 2022: Round 10
- Team 12: Kenneth Walker III, RB, Seattle Seahawks
- Team 11: Chase Edmonds, RB, Miami Dolphins
- Team 10: James Robinson, RB, Jacksonville Jaguars
- Team 9: Chris Olave, WR, New Orleans Saints
- *Team 8: Melvin Gordon III, RB, Denver Broncos
- Team 7: Treylon Burks, WR, Tennessee Titans
- Team 6: Kenny Golladay, WR, New York Giants
- Team 5: Jakobi Meyers, WR, New England Patriots
- Team 4: Skyy Moore, WR, Kansas City Chiefs
- Team 3: Russell Gage, WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
- Team 2: Tyler Boyd, WR, Cincinnati Bengals
- Team 1: James Cook, RB, Buffalo Bills
Apparently, the team with the opening pick in Round 10 believes our last selection might not break out. They went with Kenneth Walker III, who is a rookie running back for Seattle. If Penny doesn’t play as well as he did a year ago, he could end up getting the lion’s share of touches.
That’s a solid pick, but we too go for a No. 2 back, grabbing Melvin Gordon from Denver. Javonte Williams is set to be their primary back but he had more than 900 yards as a rookie and Gordon also topped the 900-yard mark.
He should still get plenty of touches and could be a solid play in an emergency.

Fantasy Football Mock Draft 2022: Round 11
- Team 1: Michael Carter, RB, New York Jets
- Team 2: Nyheim Hines, RB, Indianapolis Colts
- Team 3: Hunter Henry, TE, New England Patriots
- Team 4: Dawson Knox, TE, Buffalo Bills
- Team 5: Noah Fant, TE, Seattle Seahawks
- Team 6: Dameon Pierce, RB, Houston Texans
- Team 7: Bills D/ST
- *Team 8: George Pickens, WR, Pittsburgh Steelers
- Team 9: Cole Kmet, TE, Chicago Bears
- Team 10: Irv Smith Jr., TE, Minnesota Vikings
- Team 11: David Njoku, TE, Cleveland Browns
- Team 12: Tyler Higbee, TE, Los Angeles Rams
Back to the receiving game we go in Round 11 with George Pickens of the Steelers. Pickens had the makings of a day one pick early in his career with Georgia but a knee injury messed things up for him. He was fortunate to land with Pittsburgh though, where they just seem to find one receiver after another.
Pickens was solid in his preseason debut with 43 yards and a touchdown on three receptions. We have seen other rookies blow up in the preseason only to disappear when the games count, so expectations should be tempered. Still, Pickens has a high ceiling.
After Pickens joins our club, there’s a huge run on tight ends with three in a row being selected. None of these names are elite but they could be solid value picks this late if you were against the Mark Andrews pick so early.

Fantasy Football Mock Draft 2022: Round 12
- Team 12: DJ Chark, WR, Detroit Lions
- Team 11: Saints D/ST
- Team 10: Packers D/ST
- Team 9: Kirk Cousins, QB, Minnesota Vikings
- *Team 8: J.D. McKissic, RB, Washington Commanders
- Team 7: Jarvis Landry, WR, New Orleans Saints
- Team 6: Raheem Mostert, RB, Miami Dolphins
- Team 5: Ravens D/ST
- Team 4: 49ers D/ST
- Team 3: Jahan Dotson, WR, Washington Commanders
- Team 2: Buccaneers D/ST
- Team 1: Mecole Hardman, WR, Kansas City Chiefs
In Round 12, there’s a good mix of selections. Some teams started to grab defense here with some of the better units coming off the board in Baltimore and San Francisco. The Packers also go, and they’re also a solid defense even if they don’t get talked about enough.
With a few options available, we pick up J.D. McKissic from Washington. He’s not an every-week player but he’s someone who could get a lot of passes out of the backfield and for that reason, he’s worth a flier late.
Raheem Mostert also gets picked in the round and he’s an intriguing prospect. He has the talent to be a star but injuries have kept him out of action for much of his career. Now, he joins Miami where he knows head coach Mike McDaniel well but is going to have to compete with Sony Michel and Chase Edmonds. Still worth a shot, but don’t be surprised if he doesn’t finish as a top back.

Fantasy Football Mock Draft 2022: Round 13
- Team 1: Cowboys D/ST
- Team 2: Marquez Valdes-Scantling, WR, Kansas City Chiefs
- Team 3: Colts D/ST
- Team 4: Joshua Palmer, WR, Los Angeles Chargers
- Team 5: Robbie Anderson, WR, Carolina Panthers
- Team 6: Commanders D/ST
- Team 7: Harrison Butker, K, Kansas City Chiefs
- *Team 8: Steelers D/ST
- Team 9: Trevor Lawrence, QB, Jacksonville Jaguars
- Team 10: Daniel Carlson, K, Las Vegas Raiders
- Team 11: Tua Tagovailoa, QB, Miami Dolphins
- Team 12: Nick Folk, K, New England Patriots
This round, we decided to go defense and while the Cowboys could have been a good pick considering how many turnovers they generated in 2021, they’re off the board right away. The good news is that the Pittsburgh Steelers are there, and they have a consistently good defense, which means even though Dallas was a hot team in 2021, Pittsburgh is still a safer bet.
They’ll rack up points for not only turnovers but also sacks, thanks to T.J. Watt who tied the NFL record last season with 22.5. Look for him to once again dominate because that’s simply what he does.
A little before our choice, Robbie Anderson was taken. The Carolina wideout could be a sneaky-good pick this late considering the connection he’s shown with Baker Mayfield during camp. Those two have come a long way since Anderson freaked out about the idea of having Mayfield on his team.

Fantasy Football Mock Draft 2022: Round 14
- Team 12: Michael Gallup, WR, Dallas Cowboys
- Team 11: Brandon McManus, K, Denver Broncos
- Team 10: Marvin Jones Jr., WR, Jacksonville Jaguars
- Team 9: Tyler Bass, K, Buffalo Bills
- *Team 8: Tyler Allgeier, RB, Atlanta Falcons
- Team 7: Matt Prater, K, Arizona Cardinals
- Team 6: Marlon Mack, RB, Houston Texans
- Team 5: Graham Gano, K, New York Giants
- Team 4: DeVante Parker, WR, New England Patriots
- Team 3: Jalen Tolbert, WR, Dallas Cowboys
- Team 2: Justin Fields, QB, Chicago Bears
- Team 1: Rondale Moore, WR, Arizona Cardinals
Once again, potential is the idea in Round 14. Tyler Allgeier is a fifth-round pick out of BYU and joins a roster that doesn’t really have elite talent at the running back position. Right now, Cordarrelle Patterson is slated to start and Damien Williams is behind him.
Williams has never really established himself as an every-down back and Patterson is a converted wide receiver. He’s still going to be a huge part of the offense, but there’s also a chance the 5-foot-11, 224-pound rookie ends up with a heavy workload — which makes him worth a selection near the end of the draft.
Michael Gallup is another selection in this round and he’s a good pick if he does slide to Round 14. There’s no timetable on when he will be back from his ACL surgery but he’s a deep play threat with great rapport with his quarterback. He will have to be stashed on the bench for a while but can be a starter when healthy.

Fantasy Football Mock Draft 2022: Round 15
- Team 1: Nico Collins, WR, Houston Texans
- Team 2: Julio Jones, WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
- Team 3: Van Jefferson, WR, Los Angeles Rams
- Team 4: Curtis Samuel, WR, Washington Commanders
- Team 5: Isaiah Spiller, RB, Los Angeles Chargers
- Team 6: Jamaal Williams, RB, Detroit Lions
- Team 7: Evan Engram, TE, Jacksonville Jaguars
- *Team 8: Albert Okwuegbunam, TE, Denver Broncos
- Team 9: Chargers D/ST
- Team 10: Alexander Mattison, RB, Minnesota Vikings
- Team 11: Darrell Henderson Jr., RB, Los Angeles Rams
- Team 12: Khalil Herbert, RB, Chicago Bears
In the second to last round, we pick up Albert Okwuegbunam who could be a hidden gem. Denver sent Noah Fant to the Seattle Seahawks in their trade for Russell Wilson which puts Okwuegbunam in the starting spot. He made strides in his second season last year, catching 33 passes for 330 yards with two touchdowns, and should see an increase in production with Fant gone.
There are some handcuff players taken in this round as well with Alexander Mattison, Darrell Henderson, and Khalil Herbert finding spots. All three could produce if the player ahead of them were to miss any time.
One of the biggest names in this round is Julio Jones, who joins the Bucs. The problem is, he didn’t look so hot in his first practices with the team, making this one a gamble.

Fantasy Football Mock Draft 2022: Round 16
- Team 12: Browns D/ST
- Team 11: Deshaun Watson, QB, Cleveland Browns
- Team 10: Daniel Jones, QB, New York Giants
- Team 9: Christian Watson, WR, Green Bay Packers
- *Team 8: Greg Joseph, K, Minnesota Vikings
- Team 7: Wan’Dale Robinson, WR, New York Giants
- Team 6: Jameson Williams, WR, Detroit Lions
- Team 5: Cedrick Wilson Jr., WR, Miami Dolphins
- Team 4: Jake Elliott, K, Philadelphia Eagles
- Team 3: Cade York, K, Cleveland Browns
- Team 2: Robbie Gould, K, San Francisco 49ers
- Team 1: Ryan Succop, K, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Round 16 is the final round and the second pick ends up being Deshaun Watson. The Cleveland Browns quarterback is going to miss 11 games, so you have to be willing to eat up a spot for more than half the season. Having said that, he could end up being a great value pick for a fantasy team.
Daniel Jones follows Watson but it wouldn’t be a shock if most leagues don’t see him picked after the numbers he put up in 2021.
For our squad, we just have one position to fill, which is at kicker. The selection ends up being Greg Joseph of the Minnesota Vikings. Joseph has hit on 86.2 percent of his field goal attempts for his career and connected on 33-of-38 tries last year.
He might not have the big name but Joseph is a steady kicker that can handle the job, and could be there for the final pick.
Final Roster
