Dallas Cowboys (10-3) at Jacksonville Jaguars (5-8)

Sunday, December 18, 1:00 PM ET

The Dallas Cowboys, after a string of dominant performances, struggled badly to beat the Houston Texans on Sunday.

It’s “any given Sunday” for a reason, right?

The Cowboys’ struggle with Houston was very unexpected considering they had dropped 150 total points in the four games after their bye week leading up to Sunday’s matchup against Houston. Although the Cowboys struggled, they prevailed, and that’s all that really matters. They improved to 10-3 thanks to a late touchdown from Zeke Elliott to put them ahead 27-23, which would end up being the final score.

The Cowboys’ defense forced a pair of turnovers in this game but Dak Prescott was a little reckless with the ball and Dallas turned it over three times. Prescott threw two picks and had a fumble in this game, and Dallas flirting with disaster has perhaps paved the way for my upset pick of the week.

Jacksonville, playing at home, might have a little something cooking here. They have won three out of their last five games, and during this recent stretch of five games, Trevor Lawrence has found his stride.

Lawrence is really making progress under Doug Pederson and his staff this season, but is it enough to believe that the 5-8 Jaguars can beat the Dallas Cowboys who boast the third-ranked offense and third-ranked defense in the entire NFL?

Maybe.

I’ve been on the Cowboys bandwagon all season long, but after flirting with disaster this past week, I’m going to go ahead and say that Trevor Lawrence wins a bit of a shootout here with the Cowboys.

Prediction: Jaguars win 30-28 (Upset Pick of the Week)
