Week 15 of the 2022 NFL season was one of the craziest we’ve seen in quite some time. And maybe crazy doesn’t even begin to really effectively describe it. As far as NFL picks and predictions go, it was another fruitful week at least in terms of projecting winners. Coming off the heels of another strong week in Week 14, we were 12-4 in straight-up picks in Week 15 including our big upset projection of the week which was the Jaguars over the Cowboys in a shootout.
Now, it’s Week 16 already and Christmas week in the NFL, which means a loaded schedule and four days of football from Thursday to Monday. Who is winning this week as we approach the NFL playoffs? Without further ado, let’s make our NFL picks and predictions for Week 16. Happy holidays to you all!
2022 NFL picks and predictions for Week 16 schedule

Jacksonville Jaguars (6-8) at New York Jets (7-7)
Thursday, December 22, 8:15 PM ET
The Jacksonville Jaguars are quickly becoming the Detroit Lions of the AFC. Although early on in the season a lot of people jumped on the Jaguars’ bandwagon, it felt like the team was kind of reverting back to its old ways despite showing some promise with Doug Pederson at the helm and Trevor Lawrence under center.
After dropping to 4-8 against the aforementioned Lions just a couple of weeks ago, hope seemed lost for this Jaguars team but Trevor Lawrence has really turned things on in the past couple of months. Since throwing a game-ending interception against the Denver Broncos in London just before Halloween, Lawrence has been among the best of the best in the NFL.
Trevor Lawrence over the past 6 games: 157-of-223, 1,680 passing yards, 14 TD, 1 INT.

His latest was a brilliant comeback against the Dallas Cowboys, which was capped off by a historic performance from safety Rayshawn Jenkins. Jenkins became the NFL’s first player to record 18 tackles and two interceptions in the same game. His second interception was a game-ending pick-six off Dak Prescott in overtime. The Jaguars aren’t just an interesting 6-8 team. They are keeping playoff hopes alive.
As the Titans have floundered, the Jaguars find themselves just one game out of the NFC South. The NFL playoffs would be much better if Trevor Lawrence were in them. Can they keep rolling this week on the road against the Jets?
The Jets’ defense is consistently slept on it seems like, and although this team has lost three in a row and four of its last five, Robert Saleh and his defense at least have this team in one-score games weekly.
The Week 16 NFL schedule couldn’t be off to a more interesting start here and for NFL picks purposes, I would say this game is somewhat of a toss-up. But in the end, I’m taking Trevor Lawrence over Zach Wilson.
Prediction: Jaguars win 23-16

Buffalo Bills (11-3) at Chicago Bears (3-11)
Saturday, December 24, 1:00 PM ET
If nothing else, the Chicago Bears can hang their hats on a couple of things after their Week 15 loss.
- Justin Fields has exactly 1,000 rushing yards this season. In the modern football era, that has not been done very often. In fact, he joined Lamar Jackson and Mike Vick as the only three quarterbacks to do that in NFL history.
- As Fields progresses, the Bears continue to improve their positioning in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Fields keeps putting incredible stuff out there in terms of highlight-reel plays, so even going up against an opponent as tough as the Buffalo Bills, I will expect nothing less this week:
https://twitter.com/NFL/status/1604551798257201152
The Bills showed some resilience in an important battle on Saturday night against the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins led Buffalo 29-21 into the fourth quarter of this game before Buffalo was able to pull it out 32-29.
The Bills simply have one of the best weapons in the entire NFL in Josh Allen. Bears fans have to be watching Allen from afar and hoping that their franchise QB can get to that level of effectiveness one day, and perhaps he will.
Ultimately, this game is about more growth from Fields and the Bears and the Bills have to continue to win the games they’re supposed to win so they can get that no. 1 seed in the AFC away from the Kansas City Chiefs. Playing the AFC Championship game in Buffalo — if they can get there — would be massive over playing it in Kansas City.
As much as you’d love to see Fields and the Bears play spoiler here, I think the Bills should win this one handily.
Prediction: Bills win 30-23

New Orleans Saints (5-9) at Cleveland Browns (6-8)
Saturday, December 24, 1:00 PM ET
Veeery quietly, the Cleveland Browns have managed to win three of their last four games and at least stay on the periphery of the AFC playoff race. The Browns have given some teams fits this year as well and are nine points away from a few one-score wins early in the season.
If only…
Since the Browns got Deshaun Watson back into the lineup, the team is 2-1. How much Watson has to do with that is up for the football talk shows to debate. The Browns have scored a combined 23 points in their last two games — a loss to the Cincinnati Bengals and a win against the Tyler Huntley-led Ravens, a win which helped the Bengals tremendously in their pursuit of the AFC North crown.
The Browns are home again this week for a matchup against the 5-9 Saints who are fresh off of a win against Desmond Ridder and the Atlanta Falcons. The Saints are just one team that I feel like do the opposite of what I put in NFL picks almost every single week. Whenever I feel like New Orleans is going to put things together or whenever I feel like they have an advantage, they seem to go the other direction.
I simply don’t have confidence at this point that an Andy Dalton-led Saints team is going on the road, even against a Browns team that is struggling to put points on the board lately, and get a victory.
In their last three games, the Browns defense has forced seven total turnovers. Andy Dalton is going to have to take really good care of the ball or Kevin Stefanski’s crew is going to grind out another low-scoring win.
Prediction: Browns win 20-17

Houston Texans (1-12-1) at Tennessee Titans (7-7)
Saturday, December 24, 1:00 PM ET
If you were one of the people that had the Tennessee Titans as a fraudulent team back when they were 7-3, it looks like you were right. The Titans are losers of four straight games. They are watching the AFC South slip out of their hands on a week-to-week basis. They have not only lost four straight games but they have lost considerable ground to the Jacksonville Jaguars in the process, and just recently fired GM Jon Robinson.
Ryan Tannehill suffered a major injury scare this past week against the Chargers but shockingly was able to come back into the game and almost lead the Titans to a come-from-behind victory. I still think this team is well-coached and I still think they are going to be a tough out with how physical they are on both sides of the ball. The fact that this team isn’t throwing for 450 yards a week doesn’t mean they’re irrelevant here in December.
Thankfully for the Titans, they get a “gimme” here late in the season with a home matchup against the hapless Houston Texans. The Texans actually gave the Kansas City Chiefs a really good game this past week but did that suck all the energy out of them?
Are they going to be able to bounce back after such a strong effort vs. Kansas City and go on the road to beat the Tennessee Titans?
I simply don’t see that happening this week. As cold as I have been on the Titans, and as much as you want to say “any given Sunday”, I think the Titans need this game badly enough and they are well-coached enough that you’ll see them get to 8-7 and put a little more pressure on the upstart Jaguars.
Prediction: Titans win 22-13

Seattle Seahawks (7-7) at Kansas City Chiefs (11-3)
Saturday, December 24, 1:00 PM ET
The Seattle Seahawks are reeling right now. After starting the season a very impressive 6-3, boasting one of the game’s top offensive attacks, the Seahawks have lost four out of their last five games with the only win coming against the injury-ravaged Los Angeles Rams.
At 7-7, the Seahawks playoff hopes are dwindling by the week. They just got beat last week by the Brock Purdy-led San Francisco 49ers in somewhat of a must-win game for the season. Seattle’s slide right now makes this week’s matchup in Kansas City feel like a David vs. Goliath type of situation.
The Seahawks rank 29th in the NFL in points allowed this season and 29th in total yards allowed, while the Kansas City Chiefs are obviously one of the most well-oiled machines in the league. Although we’ve seen some performances from Patrick Mahomes in recent weeks that would make you think a team like the Seahawks (capable of creating a lot of turnovers) could get the job done, how could you project Mahomes to lose at home in December to a team that’s lost four of its last five games?
The Seahawks have shown this season that they have the firepower offensively to beat a team like Kansas City. They’ve shown the ability to score points in bunches, there’s no question about it. The Seahawks also have a number of players on the roster like Noah Fant and Shelby Harris — former Denver Broncos — who have been itching the last few years to beat the Chiefs.
Ultimately I think this game could be a ton of fun for football fans. The Chiefs’ defense hasn’t been very good lately although like the Seahawks, they’ve come up with some timely turnovers to help them keep pace at the top of the AFC with Buffalo. For this week’s NFL picks, though, I’m taking the safe pick here and will save the “upset of the week” for another game.
Kansas City has too much firepower offensively for the Seahawks to outlast them on the road.
Prediction: Chiefs win 34-27

New York Giants (8-5-1) at Minnesota Vikings (11-3)
Saturday, December 24, 1:00 PM ET
It’s too bad the NFL isn’t getting this game to the general population and national audience. This might be the game of the week between two teams that have been two of the bigger surprises in the NFL so far this season.
We’ve got to start off by talking about the Minnesota Vikings, who are fresh off of the biggest comeback in NFL history. As the seconds ticked by in the Vikings’ comeback win over the Indianapolis Colts last week, I don’t think anybody watching could really believe their eyes. The comeback actually ended up being harder than it had to be for the Vikings because the officials in this game incorrectly called a play dead that should have been a live ball and fumble recovery touchdown for the Vikings late.
At any rate, it didn’t end up mattering as Minnesota climbed back from a 33-0 halftime deficit to somehow win this game in overtime. Those who watched it will agree — it was as incredible to watch as it sounds on paper.
The Vikings won’t be able to get into that kind of a hole against a defense like the Giants, who deserve some serious respect at this point. There has been no proverbial rookie wall for Kayvon Thibodeaux, who is blossoming into one of the biggest impact defenders before our eyes each week.
Playing at home and coming off of yet another emotional and miraculous win (remember their game earlier this year against Buffalo?), the Vikings are currently 3.5-point favorites over the Giants which sounds about right.
These are two teams that have been very difficult for me in NFL picks all year but I do like the Vikings playing at home in this one.
Prediction: Vikings win 27-23

Cincinnati Bengals (10-4) at New England Patriots (7-7)
Saturday, December 24, 1:00 PM ET
There are very few words to accurately, or perhaps effectively, describe the ending of the Patriots-Raiders game from this past week. Former Patriot Chandler Jones, now a member of the Las Vegas Raiders, had arguably the moment of his football life this past weekend as he intercepted a lateral attempt from Patriots wide receiver Jakobi Meyers. Nobody knows why Meyers and the Patriots were attempting to lateral the ball around the field in a tie game on the road, but it was probably just the heat of the moment getting to him.
The end result of this incredible moment for Chandler Jones was one of the most embarrassing moments for the New England Patriots in their franchise history. Instead of playing for a win and an 8-6 record in overtime, they dropped the game in regulation thanks to one of the greatest stiff-arms you’ll ever see from Chandler Jones.
What just happened?? The @Raiders win on the final play!! #NEvsLV pic.twitter.com/cmKNUuab1k
— NFL (@NFL) December 19, 2022
What does this mean for the Patriots as they come home to face the white-hot Cincinnati Bengals?
It probably can’t mean anything good, right?
The thing about the Cincinnati Bengals right now is that Lou Anarumo’s defense is playing so exceptionally well, it’s difficult to bet against even that unit. They hosted a turnover party against the Buccaneers this past weekend, forcing four against Tom Brady and the Buccaneers en route to a 34-23 victory.
I’m not going to sit here and say that I think the Bengals are going to make quick work of the Patriots on the road. New England’s defense has been good most of the season so they deserve some respect in that regard, but even if this game is close for three quarters, I think the Bengals have what it takes to pull away in the fourth with some big plays from their loaded offense.
Joe Burrow only threw for 200 yards against the Bucs but he threw four touchdowns to four different receivers in the game. I think the Bengals will continue to roll this week, winning their seventh straight before a potential AFC Championship Game preview against the Bills in Week 17.
Prediction: Bengals win 24-20

Detroit Lions (7-7) at Carolina Panthers (5-9)
Saturday, December 24, 1:00 PM ET
If the NFL season ended today, the Detroit Lions would not be one of the seven NFC teams going to the playoffs. That would be a crying shame. The Lions have been exactly as Dan Campbell once famously promised they would be — they have been tough, they have been scrappy, they have been biting knees all the way back to a .500 record here with three games left to play in the 2022 season.
The Lions started this season 1-6 and have won six of their last seven games with the only loss being a back-and-forth game on Thanksgiving against the Buffalo Bills in Detroit. It’s crazy to think how quickly the Lions have become one of the most relevant teams in the NFC despite having the 31st-ranked scoring defense in the NFL.
Their most recent victory was a hard-fought game against a very well-coached Robert Saleh-led Jets team. The Jets have been tough for teams to get by all year long thanks to Saleh and his defense, and the Lions were able to come up big in a clutch moment on Sunday to get to 7-7.
Now, they have to go on the road to take on the Carolina Panthers, who are shockingly just a game out of their own division right now at 5-9. The NFC South is in shambles at the moment and the Buccaneers are currently leading that division at 6-8. Imagine how horrendous it would be if one of those teams sneaks in but not a team like the Lions.
The Lions boast one of the NFL’s best offenses this season and one of if not the best offensive line in the game. Offensive coordinator Ben Johnson is going to get some head coach looks this circuit with the way he’s turned that group around in such short order, and Jared Goff has perhaps inspired some confidence that he can be the guy to lead this franchise going forward.
Detroit can’t afford any traps at this stage of the season. The Panthers play tough defensively and they’re playing at home. The Lions are only 3-point favorites in this game which shows the hesitancy of Vegas to put all their chips in the middle on Dan Campbell’s squad.
Ultimately, I think the Lions — and their improved defense — will win this one and improve to 8-7.
Prediction: Lions win 24-18

Atlanta Falcons (5-9) at Baltimore Ravens (9-5)
Saturday, December 24, 1:00 PM ET
Although it was mostly bad news for the Baltimore Ravens over the weekend, there was a glimmer of good news for this team. David Ojabo, once a projected top-10 pick in the 2022 NFL Draft and considered arguably the best pass rusher in this year’s class, made his regular season debut after tearing his Achilles at his pro day back in March.
Ojabo didn’t play much but he was active, he got himself back into the swing of things, and his presence could be massive for the Ravens as the weeks progress. For the time being, however, they are having to deal with some damage control.
The Ravens are 9-5 and now firmly in second place in the AFC North behind the Cincinnati Bengals. They lost over the weekend while everyone else in the division got a victory.
Now would be the perfect time for the return of a certain former MVP of the league…
From @NFLGameDay Kickoff: QB Snoop Huntley starts today for the #Ravens, but Lamar Jackson (PCL sprain) should be back soon. The team is hopeful he'll be back at practice this week and play Christmas Eve against the #Falcons. pic.twitter.com/AVgAzQgvrP
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) December 17, 2022
If Lamar Jackson is able to go for the Ravens this week, it would be massive for their projection the rest of the way this season. They might be the quietest 9-5 team in recent NFL history.
If Jackson returns, he’ll be taking on Falcons rookie Desmond Ridder, whose debut in the NFL was spoiled by a late fumble from fellow rookie Drake London. Who knows what might have happened if London hadn’t fumbled against the Saints? The Falcons could have pulled out a tough win, or perhaps it would have ended poorly anyway.
We’ll never know.
Now, Ridder and the young Falcons have to go into Baltimore and try to climb back into the thick of things in the NFC South. The door is still open, shockingly, but I’m not sure the Falcons are going into Baltimore and getting a win at this time of year, especially if Lamar Jackson comes back.
Prediction: Ravens win 25-21

Washington Commanders (7-6-1) at San Francisco 49ers (10-4)
Saturday, December 24, 4:05 PM ET
The San Francisco 49ers just keep on winning. The longest current winning streak in the entire NFL belongs to the 49ers, the team that has had to cycle through three quarterbacks this season and is now playing outstanding complimentary team football with this year’s Mr. Irrelevant — Brock Purdy — lined up under center.
After beating their division rivals in Seattle on Thursday night, the 49ers have had a mini bye week to prepare for the Washington Commanders, who are fresh off of a tough and slightly unfair loss against the New York Giants. The Commanders were down by eight points anyway, so nobody knows if they would have been able to convert for two points after they scored, but they were called for a pretty bad illegal formation on a Brian Robinson touchdown and then Giants cornerback Darnay Holmes blatantly interfered with Curtis Samuel on the final play of the game, but nothing was called.
The brutal loss for the Commanders hasn’t taken them out of the postseason discussion at this point, but there are teams nipping at their heels. In order for Taylor Heinicke to get himself a pair of red and gold or red and black Jordans after this game, he’s going to have to beat the no. 1 defense in the NFL.
Demeco Ryans’ crew deserves so much credit for the way this season has gone for the 49ers and they are arguably the reason why this team should be considered the favorites in the NFC, even potentially over the Philadelphia Eagles. The 49ers haven’t allowed an opponent over 17 points since Week 7 when they got beat by the Kansas City Chiefs and gave up 44.
It’s going to be a hard-fought battle out there between two teams that boast very physical defenses and two teams that have frankly some of the best offensive weaponry in football right now.
Prediction: 49ers win 24-16

Philadelphia Eagles (13-1) at Dallas Cowboys (10-4)
Saturday, December 24, 4:25 PM ET
And here it is — the NFL’s matchup of the week. The Philadelphia Eagles are red hot once again with five straight victories and more wins this season than any other NFL team. They are no. 1 in the power rankings for a variety of reasons, but the Eagles are mostly healthy on both sides of the ball, at least with their key players.
That has helped pave the way for this team to have some of the best chemistry you’ll see on a week-to-week basis in the NFL.
After their win against the Chicago Bears, the Eagles now know they can borderline coast into the postseason. This game against the Dallas Cowboys could potentially have some implications on the NFC East, however, if Dallas can win out the rest of the season and the Eagles somehow find a way to lose a few games in December and January.
The big question in this game will be whether or not the Dallas Cowboys can find a way to bounce back after a brutal loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars this past weekend. The Cowboys led 27-10 and seemingly had it in the bag…before Rayshawn Jenkins stole said bag in overtime and took it for himself.
From an NFL picks perspective, how do you go about this game? Do you bank on the Cowboys reeling a little bit after that loss to the Jaguars, or do you view the Jags as a bit of a trap game for the Cowboys, who were perhaps looking one week ahead to this matchup against Philadelphia?
The Eagles got the Cowboys earlier this season and I think Dallas has obviously had this one circled ever since. I don’t think the Cowboys are going to come out flat this time against Philadelphia after a couple of really flat games (especially defensively) against the Texans and Jaguars.
I think a lot of people are going to be playing it safe on this one and picking the Eagles, even on the road, and especially after Dallas blew it against Trevor Lawrence. I’m going against the grain and making this my upset pick of the week.
Prediction: Cowboys win 33-30

Las Vegas Raiders (6-8) at Pittsburgh Steelers (6-8)
Saturday, December 24, 8:15 PM ET
The Las Vegas Raiders are going to be heading into Pittsburgh riding high after Chandler Jones’ epic play to end the game against the New England Patriots this past week.
As a matter of fact, the Raiders as a team should be riding pretty high these days with some of the walk-off wins we’ve seen from them in recent weeks:
- Davante Adams’ big walk-off reception vs. Denver
- Josh Jacobs sprinting 86 yards for a walk-off win vs. Seattle
- Chandler Jones stiff-arms Mac Jones for walk-off win vs. New England
Unfortunately, the Raiders have also blown a ton of leads this season which has led us to where we are today — talking about them as “in the hunt” rather than getting ready to definitely play at least a Wild Card matchup. It might be too little too late for the Raiders here in 2022 and the same could be said of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Steelers got a win this past weekend against the Carolina Panthers, improving to 6-8 on the season and doing so in impressive fashion when it comes to their run defense. The Steelers held the Panthers to 21 rushing yards this past weekend. They’ll get themselves a nice challenge this week with Josh Jacobs coming to town on Christmas Eve.
The Steelers are opening the betting lines as favorites in this game, and as far as just NFL picks go, this one is brutally tough. You never know on a weekly basis which of these teams will show up.
At this point, I think the Raiders have enough momentum in the pass rush department with Chandler Jones and Maxx Crosby to believe they will rattle whoever is playing QB for the Steelers.
Although the Steelers are currently favored by a field goal, I’m taking the Raiders by a field goal in this one.
Prediction: Raiders win 27-24

Green Bay Packers (6-8) at Miami Dolphins (8-6)
Sunday, December 25, 1:00 PM ET
Christmas Day will get started off with a very entertaining matchup featuring Mike McDaniel’s stellar Miami Dolphins offense and the Aaron Rodgers-led Green Bay Packers.
Mike McDaniel and Matt LaFleur were both once assistants together dating all the way back to their time with the Houston Texans under head coach Gary Kubiak. Then they were together again under Mike Shanahan and his staff in Washington, as well as under Dan Quinn and Kyle Shanahan with the Atlanta Falcons.
These two go way back, and they are now both successful head coaches in the NFL. Though right now, both guys’ teams are trending in the wrong direction. The Packers will need a Christmas miracle to get back into playoff relevance if it’s not too late already. The Dolphins once looked like they might be the best all-around team in the NFL but they’ve hit a stumbling block recently and are on a three-game skid.
At this point in time, you can’t just come into weekly NFL picks and think that Aaron Rodgers is going to will the Packers to victory anymore. I made that mistake for about half the season, giving the Packers’ back-to-back MVP apparently way more credit than he has deserved.
The Dolphins almost got a bounce-back win in Buffalo this past week but ended up falling short in the fourth quarter, giving up 32 total points and letting an 8-point lead disappear. Against the Packers, I think the Dolphins simply have too many weapons for Green Bay to handle right now.
Barring a vintage Aaron Rodgers performance, I think you should be able to take this one to the bank.
Prediction: Dolphins win 28-23

Denver Broncos (4-10) at Los Angeles Rams (4-10)
Sunday, December 25, 4:30 PM ET
In addition to the biggest die-hard Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Rams fans, perhaps the two fan bases that will be watching this game with the most intrigue will be Seahawks fans and Lions fans.
Although the Seahawks and Lions both have games with playoff implications this weekend, this matchup directly affects their current highest picks in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft. If the Broncos win, the Lions could have a top 3-4 pick on Christmas night. If the Rams win, the Seahawks might ball but guaranteed a top-three pick.
Exciting times for both the Broncos and Rams, right?
This week will mark the return of Russell Wilson for the Denver Broncos after Mr. Unlimited was held out of Sunday’s victory over the Arizona Cardinals. The Broncos are a wildly disappointing 4-10 this season but they have played well the last couple of weeks on both sides of the ball.
The offense has scored 24+ points in consecutive games for the first time all year. The defense has a whopping six interceptions in the last two games.
Denver also has a defensive staff with a tremendous familiarity with Sean McVay’s offense, considering Broncos DC Ejiro Evero was poached from the Rams’ Super Bowl coaching roster. Considering Baker Mayfield has just recently gotten a crash course in McVay’s offense, the Denver defense could be poised to feast once again on Christmas afternoon in Los Angeles.
Let’s not give the Broncos too much credit yet. They are still one of the worst and most disappointing teams in the league in 2022. But the Rams are also beaten and battered.
The Rams are the only NFC West team Russell Wilson had a losing record against as a starting QB of the Seattle Seahawks. With the way these two teams have played in recent weeks, I think for NFL picks this is a toss-up but I’ll bite on the Broncos’ defense and the way they’ve been causing havoc lately.
Prediction: Broncos win 23-17

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6-8) at Arizona Cardinals (4-10)
Sunday, December 25, 8:20 PM ET
The greatest Christmas gift the football gods could give Tom Brady and the Buccaneers right now? A prime time matchup against the hapless and very injured Arizona Cardinals.
The Cardinals don’t have Kyler Murray. He tore his ACL and is done for the year, and we’ll see about the 2023 season. They also won’t likely have backup Colt McCoy in this game. McCoy suffered a concussion against the Denver Broncos and his status for Christmas is undoubtedly a question mark at this point.
That leaves Trace McSorley to take on the NFC South-leading Buccaneers, one of the league’s most disappointing teams here in the 2022 season. Look, anything can happen here, but as the Buccaneers look to actually make a playoff push and perhaps not be a double-digit loss team hosing a playoff game, they couldn’t ask for a better chance for a get-right game, could they?
They are getting a team’s third-string QB in all likelihood, and even if McCoy is able to clear concussion protocol and play in this game, this is a matchup where the Bucs should absolutely feast.
I’m not going to sit here and say we’re going to see things from the Bucs in this game that we haven’t seen all year long, but this might be the type of confidence-building game they need to actually be relevant come playoff time instead of just limp into hosting a playoff game in a few weeks.
Prediction: Buccaneers win 24-17

Los Angeles Chargers (8-6) at Indianapolis Colts (4-9-1)
Monday, December 26, 8:15 PM ET
Are the Los Angeles Chargers…for real?
Can we actually sit here and say that in December? Let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves here. There is still plenty of work to be done and there are still three games left in the season for things to go haywire for Justin Herbert and company.
The seat for Brandon Staley has gotten a little cooler in recent weeks as the Chargers have shown some resolve, improved to 8-6, and. are now really in control of their playoff destiny from this point forward. After winning a hard-fought game against the Tennessee Titans, Herbert and company are getting a road matchup against another AFC South adversary in Jeff Saturday’s Colts.
At this point, Saturday is a Thursday night matchup away from having coached on a Saturday, Sunday, and Monday at the NFL level. How about that? Here on Monday night, he gets a matchup against a Chargers team looking to lock up win no. 9 of the season. This is coming on the heels of an epic collapse against the Minnesota Vikings last weekend in which the Colts had a 33-0 halftime lead.
I don’t think they’re going to get a 33-point cushion against the Chargers, and I don’t think they really stand much of a chance against Justin Herbert and the boys, even playing at home.
The Chargers will continue to solidify their plans for Justin Herbert to make his NFL playoff debut this season with a big win on Monday night against a reeling Colts team, losers of four and soon to be five straight games.
Prediction: Chargers win 26-17
