Predicting AFC North head coaches in 2023 NFL season

Pittsburgh Steelers: Mike Tomlin

If you could have any head coach in the NFL right now to lead your team, who would it be? For me, it would be Mike Tomlin. It’s hard to argue with his results, meaning the fact that the Steelers have never once had a losing season on his watch. Not even the post-Ben Roethlisberger season, which included ups and downs from Kenny Pickett and Mitch Trubisky under center.

Not even a season-threatening injury to TJ Watt could keep the Steelers away from nine wins.

Tomlin is just an absolute stud. He is becoming a grizzled veteran at this point, and he’s one of the most proven coaches in league history. He and the Steelers just narrowly missed the postseason despite a furious comeback attempt down the stretch.

Cleveland Browns: Kevin Stefanski

I’m on the fence about this one but it looks like the Browns are going to give Kevin Stefanski another year and presumably at least one full season with Deshaun Watson under center to see how he does. The Browns just hired Jim Schwartz to be their next defensive coordinator, so we can expect a super-aggressive unit there and Stefanski’s offense is going to have to improve dramatically over what we saw from the Watson-led crew at the end of 2022.

Watson was perhaps understandably rusty after all the time he missed, but that trade and contract were so massive that the Browns can’t really afford to stumble. They need to be contenders in the AFC North in 2023 or Stefanski will likely get the axe.
