Predicting every NFL team’s head coach for 2023 season
Predicting AFC East head coaches in 2023
Buffalo Bills: Sean McDermott
There’s no question that the Buffalo Bills have one of the best coaching infrastructures in place. The Bills’ ascent has been nothing short of remarkable since Sean McDermott and Brandon Beane took over the operation.
We’ve seen Josh Allen go from an absolute wild card in the 2018 NFL Draft to being one of the biggest stars in the league. We’ve seen Buffalo go from getting rejected in a blockbuster trade by Antonio Brown to pulling off another for Stefon Diggs. This team has now become a destination for stars such as Von Miller, who signed a massive contract in the 2022 offseason to be the Bills’ missing piece.
This is a culture McDermott has built and the Bills are going to be annual contenders with him at the helm.
Miami Dolphins: Mike McDaniel
If being an NFL coach doesn’t work out for Mike McDaniel, he should probably get himself a Netflix stand-up comedy special or something. The guy is genuinely hilarious. He also knows how to scheme up an offense.
In 2021, the Miami Dolphins ranked 22nd in scoring, 25th in total yards, and 17th in passing.
In 2022, the Dolphins ranked 10th in scoring, 6th in total yards, and 3rd in the league in passing.
It’s helpful that McDaniel put some really good coaches around him like QBs coach and passing game coordinator Darrell Bevell as well as associate head coach and running backs coach Eric Studesville. The Dolphins’ coaching staff helped turn Tua Tagovailoa into a guy that was splitting time with Ryan Fitzpatrick under the Brian Flores regime to a legitimate MVP candidate when healthy in 2022.
McDaniel is another fruitful branch off the Shanahan/Kubiak coaching tree.
