The NFL Combine is here, and the teams in the NFC East have begun figuring out how they will approach their rosters to get better in 2023. Owners and coaches have started the process of meeting with potential draft prospects to get a feel for the players both from a physical standpoint and a mental one as well. These meetings will be some of the most critical meetings these players will have outside of their official team visits so it’s important they nail them.

While those meetings continue let’s take a look at what a three-round mock for the NFC East could look like once the NFL Draft comes around.

After another disappointing end to the season and watching NFC East rival Eagles make it to the Super Bowl the Cowboys needed to make changes. They are in need of some impact players on both the offensive and defensive sides of the football. On defense, they need a starting cornerback to play opposite Trevon Diggs and they were able to get cornerback Deonte Banks who’s a tall and physical corner with the speed to match up with most receivers in the NFL.

They also need a receiver and Rashee Rice whose height and wing span made him a problem in college caught the eye of the Cowboys and gives them another deep field threat who can also be a threat running after the catch going across the middle of the field. Finally, the Cowboys are going to need to replace the production on left guard Connor McGovern who is primed to get a nice contract in free agency, so the Cowboys selected Andrew Vorhees to come in and take over that left guard spot.

2nd Round 57th Pick – Joe Tippmann Center/Guard, Wisconsin

3rd  Round 89th Pick – Sam LaPorta, Tight End, Iowa

Career Stats: 1,786 receiving yards, 5 touchdowns, 11.7 yards per reception

3rd Round 100th Pick – DeMarvion Overshown, Linebacker, Texas

Career Stats: 249 total tackles, 30.5 tackles or loss, 9 sacks, 3 interceptions, 3 forced fumbles, 17 passes defended

The Giants were one of the three NFC East teams to make the playoffs, a feat many didn’t see coming from this team. Now they are looking to continue building on their out-of-nowhere season and with four picks in the first three rounds, they can certainly do it. First pick they used on speedster receiver Zay Flowers to give Daniel Jones a speedy outlet and deep threat.

In the second round the follow-up by adding protection for Jones in the form of center Joe Tippmann to man the middle of that offensive line and help in the running and passing game. In the third round, the Giants were able to add another target for Jones in the tight end Sam Laporta and a weapon at linebacker in DeMarvion Overshown whose speed and strength will cause problems for opposing offenses.

Philadelphia Eagles mock draft: 2023 Scouting Combine edition

1st Round 10th Pick – Devon Witherspoon, Cornerback, Illinois

Career Stats: 157 total tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, 1 sack, 5 interceptions, 1 forced fumble, 23 passes defended

1st Round 30th Pick – Luke Wypler, Center, Ohio State

Career Stats: 1,702 career starts at center

2nd Round 62nd Pick – Nathaniel Dell, Wide Receiver, Houston

Career Stats: 3,155 yards receiving, 32 touchdowns, 13.8 yards per reception

3rd  Round 94th Pick – DeWayne McBride, Running Back, UAB

Career Stats: 3,523 rushing yards, 7.3 yards per carry, 36 touchdowns

The Eagles are now the team to beat in the NFC East and are going to need to restock their roster after teams poach some of their players in free agency. The Eagles decided not to make moves in the draft and instead take the best cornerback in the draft in Devon Witherspoon and later take center Luke Wypler to replace Jason Kelce in the first round.

In the second and third rounds, the Eagles elect to take receiver Nathaniel Dell and running back DeWayne McBride to give quarterback Jalen Hurts more weapons he can use. Dell’s speed gives Hurts another real weapon on the outside while McBride is a tough runner who can pick up the tough yards and has big play-making ability in space.

Washington Commanders mock draft: 2023 Scouting Combine edition

1st Round 16th Pick – Tanner McKee, Quarterback, Stanford

Career Stats: 5,336 passing yards, 28 touchdowns, 15 interceptions, 63.2 completion percentage

2nd Round 47th Pick – Dawand Jones, Tackle, Ohio State

3rd Round 97th Pick – Nick Herbig, Edge, Wisconsin

Career Stats: 134 total tackles, 36 tackles for loss, 21 sacks, 4 forced fumbles, 7 passes defended

The Commanders were once again dead last in the NFC East and are looking to turn things around but need a lot of help in doing so. Unfortunately, they tried to trade up but were unwilling to part with crucial draft picks so instead they settled on quarterback Tanner McKee out of Stanford to come in and give them a quarterback they think can help them win.

They then added Dawand Jones to give McKee some added protection along the offensive line. In the third round, they elected to take Nick Herbig who for some reason was still around giving them added depth at edge rusher. They still have much more that needs to be done but it’s a nice foundation to build on.
