Green Bay Packers 2023 NFL Mock Draft post Aaron Rodgers trade
Tavius Robinson, Edge, Ole Miss
The Packers need to make it their business to get pass rush help. But they don’t need to rush. One player that could be a good fit is Tavius Robinson from Ole Miss.
Robinson is a raw prospect with a lot of upside. He played his collegiate career in Canada before transferring to Ole Miss, where he became a key rotational player and eventually the full-time starter in 2022. At 6-foot-6 and 260 pounds, Robinson has rare measurables and natural athleticism that could make him a standout edge rusher in the NFL.
Robinson’s radius and range as a defender make him an impactful player, particularly when he is aligned on the outside edge of the tackle in a traditional 5-tech or wide-9. His length allows him to quickly get into offensive linemen, lock out, and set the edge of the defense effectively against the run. As a pass rusher, Robinson is best when he can explode out of his stance in a four-point stance and use his speed to win around the arc. He has the natural athleticism to take an inside or outside track and execute counter moves.
The Packers have a solid track record of developing raw prospects and turning them into quality players, and Robinson could be the next player to benefit from their development program.
Robinson’s measurables and athleticism make him an intriguing prospect, but the Packers should take a flyer on him primarily because he has a solid floor as a rotational pass rusher who could develop into a starter. Robinson has a high motor and good work ethic, and he could be a player that grows into a role on the Packers’ defense as a situational pass rusher, while also providing depth and insurance at the position.
