The 2026 NFL Draft, as we all know at this point, does not have a ton of talent overall. It does seem like the best value in this draft is going to be in that day 2-3 range. The blue-chip talent is going to be gone rather quickly, so teams that are in need of some impact starters might just be out of luck.
Furthermore, the quarterback class just isn't that special. Fernando Mendoza and Ty Simpson are the lone first-round-caliber prospects, but neither really falls into that 'special' bucket. Sure, the pre-draft analysis can always be wrong, but for the most part, it's relatively accurate.
Let's get into a fresh Round 1 mock draft containing some flat-out insane trades.
Updated Round 1 2026 NFL Mock Draft with major trades
1. Las Vegas Raiders - Fernando Mendoza, QB, Indiana
A pocket passer who could end up being someone like Kirk Cousins at the next level, Fernando Mendoza could finally be a realistic, long-term answer for the Las Vegas Raiders franchise.
2. New York Jets - Arvell Reese, LB/EDGE, Ohio State
Perhaps the best overall prospect in the NFL Draft class, Arvell Reese heads to the New York Jets in our latest mock draft. Since the Jets likely won't get Mendoza, they should simply take the best player available.
3. Arizona Cardinals - David Bailey, EDGE, Texas Tech
David Bailey's insane collegiate production and Nik Bonitto-like skillset would be hard for the Arizona Cardinals to pass up in this mock draft.
4. Tennessee Titans - Jeremiyah Love, RB, Notre Dame
There might not be a better friend to a young quarterback outside of a strong offensive line than the running game. The Tennessee Titans could cut Tony Pollard, save some cap space, and instantly improve at running back with the do-it-all Jeremiyah Love.
5. New York Giants - Caleb Downs, S, Ohio State
Caleb Downs plays safety, yes, but he's one of those do-it-all defensive backs, and John Harbaugh had someone similar in Baltimore with Kyle Hamilton...
6. Dallas Cowboys (via CLE) - Sonny Styles, LB, Ohio State
Trade! The Dallas Cowboys trade up six spots, give up some 2027 draft capital, and jump up to select Sonny Styles, the top linebacker prospect from Ohio State. This is the type of impact addition that can truly put the finishing touches on a remade defense.
7. Washington Commanders - Rueben Bain Jr., EDGE, Miami (FL)
Short, Rueben Bain Jr. is undersized, but he can play. Washington continues the defensive makeover and the heavy Dan Quinn influence and brings in another pass-rusher after signing Odafe Oweh.
8. New Orleans Saints - Carnell Tate, WR, Ohio State
The New Orleans Saints need to get deeper at wide receiver in the NFL Draft. After bolstering the backfield with Travis Etienne, the Saints give Tyler Shough another weapon and take Carnell Tate, who has a George Pickens-like skillset.
9. Kansas City Chiefs - Mansoor Delane, CB, LSU
The Kansas City Chiefs lost Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson this offseason, so they do need to draft for need here. Mansoor Delane is going to come into the NFL and be a top cornerback almost immediately. He can do a bit of everything.
10. Detroit Lions (via CIN) - Francis Mauigoa, OT, Miami (FL)
Trade! The Detroit Lions trade up seven picks with the Cincinnati Bengals, snag Francis Mauigoa, and shore up the offensive line. In this mock draft scenario, the Lions could kick Penei Sewell to the left tackle spot and place the physical Mauigoa on the right side.
11. Miami Dolphins - Makai Lemon, WR, USC
After losing Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle this offseason, the Miami Dolphins need more pass-catchers. Makai Lemon is one of the best and is a logical 'best player available' and need here at pick 11.
12. Cleveland Browns (via DAL) - Jordyn Tyson, WR, Arizona State
The Browns dropped six picks and still land a top prospect in Jordyn Tyson. After overhauling the offensive line, the Browns can head into the NFL Draft and focus on the outside parts of the offense.
13. Los Angeles Rams - Monroe Freeling, OT, Georgia
Monroe Freeling has the size and length to make it as a starting tackle in the NFL. The Rams still have a first-round pick despite trading one for McDuffie, so they'll snag Freeling as a future long-term fixture along the offensive line.
14. Baltimore Ravens - Jermod McCoy, CB, Tennessee
Now that Jesse Minter is in as the head coach, you could expect the defense to see a heavy emphasis. Jermod McCoy is another first-round cornerback prospect, and it's always felt like the Ravens have needed secondary help year after year.
15. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - CJ Allen, LB, Georgia
With Lavonte David retiring, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers target a deliberate need here and snag the intelligent CJ Allen from Georgia. This is a no-brainer selection.
16. New York Jets - Ty Simpson, QB, Alabama
Ty Simpson does have a lot of NFL-caliber qualities. The size is a bit of a concern, but he has good footwork, can win from the pocket, and does process well. The issue here is that since this quarterback is largely below-average, it's hard to picture where Simpson truly falls.
If he was in the 2024 draft class, for example, where would he go? That draft had six first-round quarterbacks. The 2025 NFL Draft class also featured a largely stronger group. The Alabama-NFL pipeline at quarterback notably features players like Jalen Hurts, Mac Jones, and Tua Tagovailoa. That's a bit of a mixed back, but it might be worth a shot, as the Jets have three first-round picks in 2027.
17. Cincinnati Bengals (via DET) - Keldric Faulk, EDGE, Auburn
The Cincinnati Bengals snag Keldric Faulk from Auburn at pick 17. Standing at 6-6 and weighing 276 pounds, Faulk is an ideal size for the defensive line, and after losing Trey Hendrickson in free agency, the Bengals try to replace him with Faulk.
18. Philadelphia Eagles (via MIN) - Kenyon Sadiq, TE, Oregon
Trade! It seems like, while Dallas Goedert is back with the Philadelphia Eagles for 2026, this tenure is nearing the end. Kenyon Sadiq is the best tight end prospect in this year's class - a deep one. He can receive and block well, so this is a future stud at the position.
19. Carolina Panthers - Dillon Thieneman, S, Oregon
The Carolina Panthers made two major defensive splashes in free agency and follow that up with an addition in the secondary. taking Dillon Thieneman. Offensively, the Panthers are about shored up, but they could covet a wide receiver or tight end later on.
20. Dallas Cowboys - Avieon Terrell, CB, Clemson
The Cowboys traded a pick later in this mock draft and some 2027 capital to move up, so they kept the 20th overall pick and take Avieon Terrell from Clemson, continuing the secondary makeover. Terrell has the ability to play in the slot or outside.
21. Pittsburgh Steelers - Vega Ioane, OG, Penn State
Pittsburgh has invested a good bit into the offensive line in recent years, and after losing Isaac Seumalo, they look to Vega Ioane at pick 21 as a replacement. Ioane is a slam-dunk NFL-caliber guard and plays with a nasty edge.
22. Los Angeles Chargers - Caleb Lomu, OT, Utah
Many have hammered the Los Angeles Chargers for not doing more along the offensive line, but they could simply snag a first-round prospect, guard or tackle, and really silence a lot of that criticism.
23. Minnesota Vikings (via PHI) - Peter Woods, DT, Clemson
Even after moving down a few picks with the Eagles, the Minnesota Vikings are still in rage to take Peter Woods. He's a versatile lineman who can help fill the void left by Javon Hargrave and Jonathan Allen, who are on new teams.
24. Cleveland Browns - Spencer Fano, OT, Utah
Speaking of linemen from Utah, the Browns continue overhauling the offensive line and take Spencer Fano. Some have wondered if Fano eventually kicks inside due to not necessarily being an ideal tackle size, but he's got experience at both tackle spots, and you truly have to wonder if there's a slight chance that Rashawn Slater kicks inside to guard?
Slater is going to be coming off a major patellar tendon injury, and that one is notoriously hard for lineman to come back from...
25. Chicago Bears - Kayden McDonald, DT, Ohio State
The defensive line is still a need for the Chicago Bears, and it'd be hard to pass up Kayden McDonald. Simply put, Chicago needs to stop the run and get to the passer more efficiently in 2026.
26. Buffalo Bills - Akheem Mesidor, EDGE, Miami (FL)
Akheem Mesidor is an older prospect, but he's a first-round prospect and could be someone the Buffalo Bills have been missing along the defensive line. Buffalo actually didn't stop the run all that well last year and now have Jim Leonhard as the new defensive coordinator.
27. San Francisco 49ers - TJ Parker, EDGE, Clemson
In keeping with the defensive line trends, the San Francisco 49ers take TJ Parker from Clemson. Earlier this offseason, the 49ers brought back Dre Greenlaw and also traded for Osa Odighizuwa, so this team is putting an emphasis on the front seven.
28. Houston Texans - Caleb Banks, DT, Florida
Despite breaking his foot, Caleb Banks could still sneak into the first round, and the Houston Texans do have an aging interior defensive line. Banks is more of a future benefit, as he needs some development, but his measureables are off the charts.
29. Kansas City Chiefs - Denzel Boston, WR, Washington
After addressing a major need with Delane, the Chiefs use their newly-acquired first-round pick to take Denzel Boston, a big-bodied wide receiver from Washington. The addition of Kenneth Walker III and potentially adding Boston could actually be a viable solution for the Chiefs on offense.
30. Miami Dolphins - Kadyn Proctor, OT, Alabama
Miami has the Denver Broncos first-round pick due to the Jaylen Waddle trade. The Dolphins take Kadyn Proctor, and the verdict isn't quite out yet on whether he'll kick inside to guard. Either way, the Dolphins have to be in the business of stacking as much talent as possible.
31. New England Patriots - Omar Cooper Jr., WR, Indiana
After signing Romeo Doubs and cutting Stefon Diggs, the New England Patriots still clearly have a need at wide receiver. I do believe an AJ Brown trade could still be in the works, but the Pats could take this receiver room over the top by also adding Omar Cooper Jr.
32. Seattle Seahawks - Colton Hood, CB, Tennessee
After losing Riq Woolen in free agency to the Eagles, the Super Bowl champions draft for need and take Colton Hood. This would make sense, as Seattle's roster doesn't have many holes, and this is when front offices can draft for need.
