There are three NFL games on Christmas, but only one team, the Denver Broncos, is actually currently in the playoff picture, and you can just tell that the NFL did not expect that to be the case, but here we are.
There is simply a ton of parity in the league this year, and it's turned into one of the more entertaining NFL seasons in recent memory. With the final two weeks of the regular season about here, the final playoff spots and division titles will all be clinched.
Before we embark on some intense Week 17 action, we have some fresh NFL power rankings. Which teams are getting coal for Christmas, and which teams are getting a ton of presents?
Updated NFL Power Rankings on Christmas Day
32. Las Vegas Raiders
With the major moves Vegas made this past offseason, they certainly expected to at least finish with a winning record, but this team has been horrendous and is likely going to blow it up again this offseason.
31. New York Giants
Jaxson Dart might end up being something, but he has to learn how to protect himself better, and the Giants still have to get the next coaching staff right, which is no easy task at all.
30. New York Jets
The New York Jets' defense does not have a single interception this year. This team has taken a step back, but they have a ton of NFL Draft capital to rebound in the next few seasons.
29. Tennessee Titans
Cam Ward has made some big-time throws this year, and you can absolutely see the foundation of who could be a future franchise passer, but the work has only just begun for the Titans.
28. Arizona Cardinals
After a 2-0 start, the Cardinals have struggled to win another game. I would be shocked if there wasn't major change for this franchise this coming offseason. Just about everything needs to change.
27. Cleveland Browns
If nothin else, Myles Garrett seems to be on the cusp of breaking the single-season sack record, and the defense overall is quite good, but until the front office gets serious about fixing the offense, the team is going to remain stuck first gear.
26. Washington Commanders
Coming within just one game of the Super Bowl in 2024, the Washington Commanders have double-digit losses and need to add a ton of talent on both sides of the ball. The roster flaws were hidden last year, but they were magnified this year.
25. Miami Dolphins
Tua Tagovailoa is likely not going to be on the team in 2026, so the lowly Miami Dolphins might be headed toward a reset and a much-needed new era.
24. Cincinnati Bengals
It's been yet another year to forget for the Bengals, and until a major front office shakeup takes place, Cincy is going to struggle to get back into the playoffs, a place they have not been since the 2022 NFL Season.
23. New Orleans Saints
Tyler Shough might be worth monitoring going forward, as he's shown a lot here in 2025 and is absolutely going to be the Saints' starter in 2026. The Saints need to add a ton of talent, but if the team got the QB right...
22. Atlanta Falcons
The Atlanta Falcons had so much promise earlier in the season, but the team cratered, and Michael Penix Jr also went down with a season-ending knee injury. I could see some major coaching changes hitting this franchise in 2026.
21. Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs are 6-9 on the season and are probably just hoping for a higher draft pick at this point. The roster is at best, average, and without Patrick Mahomes in the lineup, this franchise is lost, to be honest.
20. Minnesota Vikings
JJ McCarthy is now out with a broken hand and has missed way more games than he's played in the NFL - the Minnesota Vikings may have totally messed up this positon by letting Sam Darnold leave, and by drafting McCarthy. This team could hyper-aggressive in the offseason for a QB upgrade.
19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are clinging for life in the NFC South and have battled injuries and poor coaching all season - the talent is there, but it's just not come together.
18. Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys have wasted a top-flight defense this year thanks to a bottom-feeding defense. Most of us can take a guess where Dallas is going to focus on this offseason..
17. Carolina Panthers
It's been a fun story for the Carolina Panthers, but I am not sure this team is quite there, yet. They're 8-7 on the season and would probably be in second or third place in most every other division in the league, but it's been a fun story.
16. Indianapolis Colts
Philip Rivers looked good in Week 16?
Yes, he did. The Colts were once 7-1 on the season, but the entire campaign just fell flat on its face thanks to injuries. It's such a shame, as this team could have made a ton of noise in the playoffs.
15. Baltimore Ravens
If there was ever a team that needed a roster reset and some healthier players for Christmas...
14. Pittsburgh Steelers
One of the more average teams in the NFL, the Pittsburgh Steelers are still in a position to win the AFC North, but this team is not built to win in the postseason.
13. Detroit Lions
Like the Dallas Cowboys, the Detroit Lions have wasted a top-tier offense thanks to a terrible defense, but Detroit is still alive in the NFC Playoff Picture...
12. Green Bay Packers
The Packers are going in the wrong direction at the wrong time, and a team once in a good spot to win the NFC North might go one-and-done when the playoffs roll around.
11. Philadelphia Eagles
Enduring a bit of a Super Bowl hangover this year, the Eagles aren't going to go far in the postseason but could ride their playoff experience to a victory.
10. Los Angeles Chargers
The LA Chargers have battled poor offensive line play all year, and I just have a feeling that catches up to them in the playoffs.
9. Buffalo Bills
A regressed defense and an offense in need of another weapon, the Buffalo Bills are good but aren't the normal juggernaut we are used to seeing.
8. San Francisco 49ers
One of the more interesting teams in the NFL, the San Francisco 49ers have quietly gotten to 11-4 on the season and could win out to earn the top seed for the NFC playoffs.
7. Chicago Bears
The Chicago Bears are on the cusp of winning the NFC North, but this team is still flawed - the passing attack and pass rush both need to get better.
6. Houston Texans
Winners of 10 of their last 12, the Houston Texans are surging at the right time and could carry themselves deep into the playoffs thanks to an elite defense.
5. Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jacksonville Jaguars may have put the NFL on notice by beating the Broncos in Denver. They rise a bit in our latest NFL power rankings.
4. Los Angeles Rams
The LA Rams drop a bit in our updated power rankings thanks to a brutal Week 16 collapse against the Seattle Seahawks, but they still have the MVP of the league in Matthew Stafford.
3. New England Patriots
The New England Patriots are 12-3 after their latest win, beating the Baltimore Ravens in primetime. The Pats are a well-rounded club but might be a year too early to make a deep playoff run, as the roster is not special
2. Denver Broncos
The Denver Broncos did just win 11 games in a row, which is insane. Still sitting at 12-3 and atop the AFC, the Broncos still have to have a ton of things not go their way to not earn that top AFC seed - they control their own destiny for the playoffs.
1. Seattle Seahawks
The Seattle Seahawks are now in a great position to earn the top seed for the NFC playoffs. Sam Darnold is playing great football, and the defense is talented and explosive. This team does not have a notable weakness right now.
