There have certainly been some shocking quarterback performances thus far. Let's rank all 32 starting QBs ahead of Week 11. The movement in these QB rankings has definitely been evident, and we are now at the point of the season where starting quarterbacks have gotten injured, so the initial slate of starting QBs in Week 1 does look different now, as we approach Week 11.
Down the stretch, the teams with stability at the QB position are the ones who will end up making a run and finding a way into the postseason, and we are still at a point where a couple of rookie quarterbacks could help lead their teams into the NFL playoffs this year, which is just crazy to think about.
And the favorite for the NFL MVP award, which is again likely going to a QB, could get much clearer down the stretch. Let's do our best to power rank all 32 starting quarterbacks ahead of Week 11.
NFL Power Rankings: Ranking all 32 starting quarterbacks ahead of Week 11
32. Mac Jones, Jacksonville Jaguars
Mac Jones may end up starting the rest of the season for the Jacksonville Jaguars and lands at no. 32 on our latest QB power rankings. Trevor Lawrence has a shoulder injury, and it may just be best for the Jags to shut him down for the rest of the season. I mean, the Jags are not going anywhere, and with Lawrence entrenched as their starter, throwing him out there in a lost season is not smart.
Mac Jones was bad in his first start of the season against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 10 and is probably not going to play well at any point down the stretch if he keeps the starting role. The Jaguars are likely headed toward another rebuild, and it would be a shock to see the current coaching staff back in 2025.
31. Cooper Rush, Dallas Cowboys
With Dak Prescott now out for the rest of the season with a hamstring injury, the Dallas Cowboys are officially done. Cooper Rush is a fine backup but does come in at no. 31 on our latest QB power rankings. He and the Cowboys got their rear ends handed to them in Week 10 against the Philadelphia Eagles, and this could be another team who is set to embark on a rebuild.
It is not likely that Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy returns in 2025, so beyond guys like Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, and Micah Parsons, this roster could get shaken up in a big way next offseason.
30. Anthony Richardson, Indianapolis Colts
The Indianapolis Colts had sent QB Anthony Richardson to the bench a few weeks ago, and it seemed to be because he literally subbed himself out of their game against the Houston Texans a few weeks ago due to being tired...
Yes, you read that right. Well, with two-straight losses against the Minnesota Vikings and Buffalo Bills, the Colts have now decided to bench Joe Flacco and insert Richardson back into the lineup. Richardson has made just 10 career NFL starts, but if he starts every game the rest of the season, he'll have 17 career starts, which is obviously one full season in the NFL.
Every knew that this player was a huge project coming into the NFL from college, and he wasn't even a good college QB, so while I do not believe Richardson is going to develop into much of anything, he does need more time to see what kind of ceiling he has. Even if the Colts mishandled this situation, Richardson is still among the worst starters in the NFL and comes in on these power rankings at 30th, which seems about right.
29. Bryce Young, Carolina Panthers
Bryce Young and the Carolina Panthers have won two games in a row and have not eclipsed their 2023 win total. They won two games last year and are now 3-7 on the season. It feels to be a feel-good story for the Panthers and Bryce Young, who has had a rough go at it in the NFL.
Young is not a franchise QB, but the Panthers have been as dysfunctional as possible since he entered the league last year. My opinion is that the Panthers target a QB in the 2025 NFL Draft, and that would not be a shock. Bryce Young comes in at no. 29 on our latest QB power rankings.
28. Daniel Jones, New York Giants
I mean, what are we doing here? It feels like the momentum is trending for Daniel Jones to be sent to the bench, and that would make a lot of sense. He and the New York Giants have nothing going for them, and it’s wild that Jones is still a starter into his sixth year in the NFL. We can all see just how bad Jones is, and it’s odd that Giants General Manager Joe Schoen did not and decided to give him a $160 million contract.
That has proven to be a horrific mistake, and it’s likely that not only do the Giants bench Jones soon, but they’ll also likely cut him and perhaps target a rookie QB in the 2025 NFL Draft. This is the best path forward for the Giants.
Jones had a pedestrian season in 2022 that somehow netted him this contract. It would not shock me to see the Giants totally clean house in 2025. Jones is 28th in our latest QB rankings.
27. Gardner Minshew II, Las Vegas Raiders
Gardner Minshew II is a high-end backup, and the Las Vegas Raiders essentially admitted defeat in 2024 when they announced him as their starter, and when they failed to come away with a QB in the 2024 NFL Draft. Minshew is on a two-year deal, so you have to wonder if he remains as a bridge QB.
He’s had his moments, but he’s no better than right around 27th. There is certainly a market for a high-end backup QB like Minshew, but there isn’t much more to say about him. The Raiders are 2-7 on the season, and Minshew has already been benched, but a hand injury to Aidan O’Connell has forced Minshew back into the lineup.
The Las Vegas Raiders are circling the drain and could be in for a huge rebuild in 2025.
26. Will Levis, Tennessee Titans
I can absolutely see the Tennessee Titans moving on from Will Levis at the end of the 2024 NFL Season. He’s just not a good QB and has never really shown a whole lot during his time in Tennessee to begin with. Defensively, the Titans seem to be in good shape, but that’s really it.
They traded DeAndre Hopkins to the Kansas City Chiefs; Hopkins was on an expiring contract, so they got some capital back in that move. They also have players like Tony Pollard, Calvin Ridley, and Tyler Boyd on offense, so it’s not like this roster is totally barren.
It would not surprise me to see Tennessee take a QB in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, and even with this QB class in the coming draft not projected to be that good, the Titans truly may not have an option here; they probably have to force themselves to like a prospect enough, as bad as that may sound.
25. Jameis Winston, Cleveland Browns
Jameis Winston has since been the starter for the Cleveland Browns, as Deshaun Watson has been out with that torn Achilles injury he suffered a few weeks ago. Honestly, Winston may also start for this team in 2025. I firmly believe that we have seen the last of Watson on the Browns, and may have seen the last of Watson in the NFL as well.
He’s been horrific during his time on the field, and the Browns have to force themselves to not let his contract get in the way of the harsh truth; this team is again in need of a franchise QB. I do also hope they keep Kevin Stefanski around, but who knows at this point.
Jameis Winston is like many other QBs in the NFL; he’s a fine backup with spot-starter potential here and there.
24. Caleb Williams, Chicago Bears
This has been a total disaster for the Chicago Bears and Caleb Williams over the last three games. Some of Williams' main issues from college are rearing their ugly heads, and it's not like this player was a perfect prospect coming into the NFL. He seems slow to process at times and has always been one to take a ton of sacks.
Being that the Bears are also fielding an average offensive line and have poor coaching on that side of the ball, it has created the mess we see now. The Bears have now lost three games in a row and sit at 4-5 on the season. They also just fired former offensive coordinator Shane Waldron, but he may not be the primary issue.
Caleb Williams and the Bears may end up being fine for the long-term, but this stretch has revealed some nasty truths about where this franchise is right now. Williams has not been terrible this year by any means, but it's not been good at all, so he comes in at no. 24 on our latest QB power rankings.
23. Drake Maye, New England Patriots
Drake Maye has officially overtaken Caleb Williams in the QB hierarchy, in my opinion. It's been a decent handful of starts for Maye, who is truly doing what he can playing on this offense. I do believe Maye will end up being fine for the long-term, but de-facto GM Eliot Wolf must surround Maye with a better offensive line and some actual playmakers next offseason, period.
This team has the worst offensive personnel situation in the NFL, so they could benefit from a top-5 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. The Pats took Maye with the third overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, so this team has not done a lot of winning recently. I wonder how Patriots fans have gotten used to being at the bottom for once.
22. Bo Nix, Denver Broncos
Bo Nix is playing some very good football since Week 3, and it’s odd that a lot of NFL talking heads aren’t acknowledging it. It seems to me that many want their priors to be confirmed with Nix, as most did not have him ranked that high ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft and thought that the Denver Broncos panicked and overdrafted the QB.
Nix was the sixth and final QB taken in the first round, and Sean Payton was even on record in saying that he baited the Minnesota Vikings into thinking he wanted JJ McCarthy instead of Nix. The Vikings ended up trading up to grab McCarthy, which let Nix fall right into their laps. Over the last six weeks, Nix’s production has increased, and the QB now has 10 touchdown passes against just two interceptions since Week 3, which was Denver’s first win of the season.
If the playoffs started today, the Broncos would be in as the seventh seed, so this team is legit, and Nix is a growing player.
21. Geno Smith, Seattle Seahawks
OK, someone smarter than me can tell me what I am missing with Geno Smith. I don’t get why people think he’s this underrated QB. The Seattle Seahawks started 3-0 on the season and are now 4-5. They were on their bye in Week 10 and face the San Francisco 49ers, so a 4-6 start is likely on its way.
Geno Smith is not a franchise QB, and it would not shock me to see the Seahawks front office make an aggressive push for a rookie QB in the 2025 NFL Draft. Smith is now well into his 30s and is probably best-suited as a bridge QB at this stage in his career. The 2022 season was fun, but he’s returned back down to earth since then.
20. Tua Tagovailoa, Miami Dolphins
In five games for the Miami Dolphins this season, Tua Tagovailoa has a 2-3 record and has thrown six touchdowns against four interceptions, but he has completed 72.4% of his passes. The big issue with Tagovailoa is kind of what already happened this year; he cannot stay consistently healthy, and that is a massive issue.
Some have thought that the Dolphins can go on a bit of a run here given how easy their schedule is down the stretch, but I am a bit skeptical there. Tua Tagovailoa is maybe the 12th or 13th-best QB in the NFL when he is playing at his best, and that is an issue. He and the Dolphins do not feel built to go on any sort of playoff run, so it'll be interesting to see how this team tries to fix their issues next offseason.
If nothing else, Tagovailoa is a fine, slightly above-average QB that does know how to win games, so while Miami will never win a Super Bowl with him, he's workable for the long-term.
19. Brock Purdy, San Francisco 49ers
Coming in at no. 19 on our QB power rankings is Brock Purdy of the San Francisco 49ers, a QB that has not had his full disposal of high-end playmakers. Brandon Aiyuk is out for the year, and he just got Christian McCaffrey back. I think we are seeing just how much those types of players have elevated the play of Purdy, who is not as efficient this year as he has been in previous seasons.
This could be a huge siren for the 49ers in their future contract negotiations with Purdy, which could begin this coming offseason. Will they really want to invest upwards of $50 million per year in Brock Purdy? They may have a clear line in the same, a clear number that they just do not want to go over.
Brock Purdy comes in at no. 19 on our latest QB power rankings.
18. Aaron Rodgers, New York Jets
Oh boy. This is just not a good situation for Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets. When the Jets swung a trade for Rodgers before the 2023 NFL Season, many across the NFL thought that the team had found their guy for the short-term. Well, just a handful of plays into the season, Rodgers popped his Achilles.
And since coming back in 2024, it's clear that Rodgers is a shell of his former self and just not a very viable QB anymore. He's not been horrible by any means, and I think you could put a superteam around Rodgers and still win some games, but the Jets do not have a superteam.
Rodgers does have 15 touchdown passes on the season, but this is shaping up to be a lost year for the Jets. Aaron Rodgers could make their life easier by simply retiring at the end of the 2024 NFL Season, but I am not sure he wants to go out like this. Rodgers has been better than some QBs in 2024, but he comes in at no. 18 on our NFL QB power rankings.
17. Russell Wilson, Pittsburgh Steelers
Russell Wilson has played quite well for the Pittsburgh Steelers this year, but in order for him to rise on this list, he'll need a larger sample size. I will acknowledge that I thought Wilson and the Steelers would simply not work out, but here we are.
Now yes, the Steelers do have a tough remaining schedule, so Wilson could falter down the stretch, but he may not. Russell Wilson is one of the more veteran quarterbacks in the NFL, so he's played in every single game you can imagine. The Steelers may have something for the short-term, here.
Russell Wilson comes in at no. 17 on our latest quarterback power rankings.
16. Derek Carr, New Orleans Saints
This is always who Derek Carr has been. At best, he is a bridge QB at this stage of his NFL career. I could see a scenario where Carr gets cut from the Saints this coming offseason and he ends up signing with a team who needs a bridge starter for a year.
Honestly, a team like the Carolina Panthers would make a lot of sense. Carr is average at best and can run just about any offenses, but he can't do it at a high level. What may be super crazy is that Derek Carr is one of 23 QBs in the history of the NFL to hit 40,000 career passing yards.
15. Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs
Guys, let's just be honest here; Patrick Mahomes is just not playing all that well this year, and I absolutely think he would tell you that. He's thrown 12 touchdowns against nine interceptions already, and his passer rating is just barely treading above 90. He's thrown a pick in seven of nine games, so this is an issue.
The Chiefs, somehow, are still 9-0, and simply find a way to wins games, but I do not think anyone truly thinks that this is a 9-0 team; just take their blocked field goal-win against the Denver Broncos for example, or their many other close games.
It will be interesting to see how this team performs in the playoffs; and in my opinion, this team needs to secure home-field advantage if they hope to make a Super Bowl run. They are seeking to be the only team in the history in the NFL to win three Super Bowls in a row.
But to do that, he is going to need to clean up the turnovers, and the Chiefs potentially getting Isiah Pacheco back in the near future will be a huge help there.
14. CJ Stroud, Houston Texans
CJ Stroud has dealt with a lot of nonsense this year, as he's lost some of his teammates to injury, and his offensive line is just not doing him any favors. Stroud no longer has Stefon Diggs, as the veteran WR tore his ACL. And stud wide receiver Nico Collins has missed the last five games due to a hamstring injury.
Stroud's numbers have taken a hit without Collins, and that could tell us that he just is not yet ready to carry a team. He's not been bad by any means, but the Texans have lost three of four games and are now 6-4 on the season. Their honestly pretty lucky that the AFC South is bad this year. Despite their skid, they are still in first in the division and are in a great position to win it for the second year in a row.
The Texans are likely going to win the AFC South and host a playoff game, and despite the mid-season struggles, Stroud and the Texans are still a fine team in a decent spot.
13. Kirk Cousins, Atlanta Falcons
Kirk Cousins was not brought back by the Minnesota Vikings, so he signed a four-year free agency deal with the Atlanta Falcons this past offseason, and he's helped the Falcons get out to a 6-4 start. The issue with Atlanta is their defense, as Kirk Cousins has been able to take care of the offense.
The Falcons are also a team in a pretty bad division, so nine wins may wrap up the NFC South this season. I do anticipate this team being able to win the division, so they'll be guaranteed a home playoff game. Their ceiling is quite low beyond that with Cousins under center, but this team did also take Michael Penix Jr in the 2024 NFL Draft, so they seem to have a good plan in place for the future.
It would not shock me if the Falcons ended up giving a start or two to Penix at some point this season to get him some reps in his rookie season.
12. Jordan Love, Green Bay Packers
The Green Bay Packers are in great shape with Jordan Love for the long-term, but the one issue that has plagued Love this year are the interceptions. They simply need to stop, or the Packers are not going to go as far as we think they can. Love is otherwise excellent, and the Packers are playing some intense defense, so the interception issue is really their big one to fix.
The Packers and Love somehow put it together in the middle of the 2023 NFL Season, and this helped them down the stretch. They finished with a 9-8 record and actually made it all the way to the NFC Divisional Round, where they gave the eventual NFC Champions San Francisco 49ers a tough time.
Green Bay could end up making a Super Bowl run, but they may have to do it as a Wild Card, as the Detroit Lions feel like they are going to run away with the NFC North title in 2024.
11. Sam Darnold, Minnesota Vikings
Did anyone have Sam Darnold playing like a top-11 QB on their Bingo card coming into this season? Darnold did have a rough game in Week 10 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, but the mark of a good QB and a good team is being able to win when it's ugly. And folks, I think Sam Darnold may be a good QB, as crazy as that may sound.
It will be interesting to see what kind of contract comes his way in free agency. Unless he totally falls apart down the stretch, he should be able to find a multi-year offer from some team. Notably, the Vikings took JJ McCarthy in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, so their plan is likely to turn the franchise over to time in 2025.
Sam Darnold has thrown 17 touchdown passes on the season and comes in at no. 11 on our quarterback power rankings ahead of Week 11.
It would not shock me, though, if Sam Darnold did falter a bit down the stretch and ended up being ranked lower when it's all said and done.
10. Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles
Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles are proving me wrong and have ripped off five wins in a row. They now sit at 7-2 and are first place in the NFC East. If the Eagles are figuring this thing out down the stretch, they’re going to be closer to their 2022 form than 2023. Hurts the and the offense are humming, and while the QB is not elite, he’s been very good and has slid into the top-10 of our latest QB power rankings.
The Eagles and Washington Commanders are facing each other on Thursday Night Football, and since I am typing this beforehand, I have no idea what happens in that game! I don’t think the outcome of this game is would impact these rankings regardless, either.
Hurts and the Eagles have this thing pointing in the right direction. He’s reduced the turnovers and could help Philly capture the NFC East.
9. Jayden Daniels, Washington Commanders
Slightly above Jalen Hurts is Jayden Daniels, but if we wake up on Friday with the Eagles and Hurts having outplayed Daniels and the Commanders, you could argue that these two could be flipped.
Daniels may be well on his way to the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award, but I would not rule out Bo Nix of the Denver Broncos. Daniels has come into the NFL and brought immediate production. This could be a player that many see as making a huge leap in 2025 and perhaps being an MVP candidate. He’s got similar mobility to Lamar Jackson and can throw the ball with ease, so this player may end up being special in this league.
Jayden Daniels slides into the ninth spot in our latest quarterback power rankings ahead of Week 11.
There are still four NFC quarterbacks, though, who are ranked above these two dual-threat passers…
8. Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams
Matthew Stafford is in another one of those seasons where his numbers do not jump off the page, but he’s playing out of his mind. For years, Stafford has been underrated, and it’s wild that he’s on the back-end of his career and is still underrated. He may end up in the Hall of Fame one day, and the Super Bowl the Los Angeles Rams won in 2021 could push him into the Hall.
The Rams suffered a pretty brutal loss in Week 10 at home against the Miami Dolphins. They’re now 4-5 on the season and are still alive in the NFC West and even in the NFC Wild Card race.
Stafford may not play beyond the next couple of seasons, and he is one of the final QBs of that last, older generation. It’ll be sad to see Stafford retire, but the writing is on
7. Baker Mayfield, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Baker Mayfield is tied for the league-lead in the NFL with 24 touchdown passes, which is just an insane number. The Buccaneers are down both Chris Godwin and Mike Evans, so Mayfield is going to have to carry this team. Their defense is also awful, so while I believe Mayfield is going to continue putting up insane numbers, it may not result in much for the Bucs.
Mayfield has really revived his career with Tampa, and he signed a three-year extension last offseason. I am not sure he is a QB that a team can win a Super Bowl with, but he’s been among the best QBs in the NFL in 2024. After being thrown away by the Browns and bouncing around a couple of other teams, he seems to have found a home with the Buccaneers.
6. Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers
Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers have actually been boring this year. The defense is playing well but the offense is not explosive. However, Justin Herbert is taking care of the football at an insane rate, and the team is 6-3. Herbert isn’t putting up insane numbers, but he’s got 11 touchdown passes against just one interception this season.
If LA can surround the offense with the playmaking talent on the outside, they could be a legitimate contender in 2025 and beyond. Herbert deserves credit for how efficient he’s been. Again, the numbers aren’t through the roof, but the number also do not tell the entire story as well.
He comes in at no. 6 on our latest QB power rankings ahead of Week 11.
5. Jared Goff, Detroit Lions
Jared Goff threw five interceptions in Week 10 against the Houston Texans, and the Detroit Lions still won, which is a testament to just how good the Lions are and just how unphased Goff can be when he commits a turnover. Even with the five-pick game, Goff is still playing lights out this year, but the MVP campaign may be over unless he goes crazy down the stretch.
Goff is a borderline top-5 QB this year and has truly revived his career with the Lions. This team is the most talented in the NFL and will represent the NFC in the Super Bowl this season. Goff has played in a Super Bowl and did help the Lions make a run to the NFC Championship Game in 2023, so this team is close.
The NFL world may also love seeing a team like Detroit make it to the Super Bowl, and you could argue that Goff has been the best QB in the NFC this season, but he is not the top NFC quarterback on this list…
4. Kyler Murray, Arizona Cardinals
Let’s have a conversation about Kyler Murray and the 6-4 Arizona Cardinals. I had told you months ago on this website that Murray and the Cardinals would be better than expected, and here we are. They’ve already eclipsed their win total from 2023 and current lead the NFC West. Murray is playing out of his mind and has been able to get his squad into prime position in the NFL.
Heck, they could still make a Wild Card if they get passed up in the NFC West. Murray should receive some MVP votes if the Cardinals can keep stacking wins as they have in the last few weeks. It’s obviously still a year or two early for the team, as they need a ton of talent on the defensive side of the ball, and this team is clearly being carried by their coaching staff and elite QB.
It’s not a hyperbole to suggest that Kyler Murray has been a top-4 QB in the NFL this year. I have no issue ranking him this high at all.
3. Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills
Josh Allen went weeks without throwing an interception, but that streak came to an end. Allen is still playing out of his mind this year and is another QB who is right in the mix for the NFL MVP. Allen and the Buffalo Bills are 8-2 on the year and should have the AFC East wrapped up in the very near future.
One issue with Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills is that they have continually fallen short in the NFL playoffs, and it comes against the Kansas City Chiefs, who they again lost to in the divisional round in 2023. The Bills and Chiefs square off in Week 11, and I do think this game is going to tell us a lot about which teams is truly better. At the very least, Josh Allen has been much better than Patrick Mahomes.
2. Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals
It’s really a shame that Joe Burrow is having the best statistical season of his career, yet the Cincinnati Bengals currently sit out of a playoff spot at 4-6. If the Bengals were 6-4 or better, Burrow is probably among the favorites to win the NFL MVP. At some point in his NFL career, Burrow should win one of these, and let’s be honest; his defense is letting him down in a big way.
The Bengals may only be able to afford one more loss the rest of the way, but they do have some tough matchups, and just because their offense is so good, doesn’t mean they figure this thing out. Joe Burrow’s career-best regular season could go down the drain if the Bengals defense cannot figure something out down the stretch.
However, Burrow is still no. 2 on our latest QB rankings.
1. Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens
There has been no better, more efficient QB this year than Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens, who could be well on his way to his third NFL MVP award. He won it in 2023, which was his second, and it seems as if adding Derrick Henry into the backfield has benefitted both parties, as both Henry and Jackson are having the best seasons of their career.
The main issue with the Ravens is their passing defense, so Jackson may have to do a ton of heavy-lifting as the 2024 NFL Season goes on. I understand that people get critical of Jackson because of the lack of playoff success, and that’s a valid argument, but year in and year out, he is no worse than the third-best QB in the NFL, and if the current trends hold, Jackson is on his way to MVP no. 3, which would pretty much cap-off a Hall of Fame career, even though Jackson is still in his 20s.
