Now that NFL teams are moving on from head coaches and making wholesale changes, it feels like the offseason has truly gotten underway. And there's already been some absolutely insane drama with the unexpected twist of John Harbaugh being fired by the Baltimore Ravens.
Every job situation is different, but I think right now it's clear that some of these situations will be more coveted than others.
The NFL isn't exactly the transfer portal or the Wild Wild West that is the college football coaching carousel, but this is already shaping up to be a really thrilling offseason. Our latest NFL power rankings are going to take a look at every current available job (to be updated as more become available) and rank them worst to best.
NFL Power Rankings: Ranking every available job worst to best after head coach firings
7. Cleveland Browns
The Cleveland Browns have to offer one of the worst head coaching gigs in all of professional sports. This is just a cursed job, apparently. Even though there are some pieces to work with for the Browns right now, you have a franchise that hasn't been able to dig out of a hole since 1999, a horrendous quarterback situation, a bad quarterback class in this year's draft, an offensive line that needs to be renovated, and one of the worst receiver rooms in the league.
The Browns have a strong defense, especially with Myles Garrett out there leading the way. But it's become abundantly clear that even in a record-setting season, Myles Garrett can only make so much of an impact. The Browns' next head coach is going to need to be someone who gets a chance to execute a long-term vision with patience from the front office and ownership.
6. Arizona Cardinals
The Cardinals have some serious issues that need to be addressed after firing Jonathan Gannon, the most important of which will be their quarterback position.
At least the Cardinals have Kyler Murray, and perhaps now that they've moved on from the coaching staff, their plan is to run it back with him. The assumption I've been making (along with plenty of others) is that the relationship between Murray and the team is done.
We're fixing to find out what happens this offseason, but the Cardinals just don't have the pieces right now to be considered an overly exciting job, especially if they're starting over at quarterback. We'll see how the offseason vision comes to life under the new head coach.
5. Las Vegas Raiders
There are a couple of reasons why I really dislike the situation the Raiders are in right now. The primary situation facing this team in the 2026 offseason, and perhaps the new head coach can help. fix it, is the fact that it seems the relationship between the team and star pass rusher Maxx Crosby is fractured beyond repair.
Crosby doesn't like to miss snaps, much less be forced to sit out games. If Crosby demands a trade, it's going to really take a lot of the luster away from this head coaching gig.
But this team is a blank canvas in a lot of other ways. The Raiders are the owners of the #1 overall pick in the NFL Draft, which raises their standing on this list significantly. If they can find a way to keep Maxx Crosby, this job opening jumps a lot higher with the presence of young stars like Brock Bowers and Ashton Jeanty.
But without Maxx Crosby...this one is ugly.
4. Tennessee Titans
I neither love nor hate the job opening. for the Titans. Obviously, the Titans have a franchise quarterback in place with Cam Ward, which is a huge advantage for them when it comes to these discussions with prospective head coaches.
However, it almost feels like this job opening has a predetermined outcome. At this point, I would almost be shocked if Titans GM Mike Borgonzi didn't hire one of his old buddies from his time with the Kansas City Chiefs. Matt Nagy and Steve Spagnuolo are both getting chances to interview here, and if I had to guess, one of those two would win the sweepstakes.
With that in mind, I still think the presence of Ward means the Titans have more going for them than at least a few other teams on this list. This should be a pretty coveted job, but does Borgonzi already have his mind made up?
3. Atlanta Falcons
I struggled with where to place the Falcons on this list. If you catch me on a more cynical day, I might sit here and tell you that this team is about to enter a full-scale rebuild. Not only do the Falcons have a head coach vacancy, but they just fired GM Terry Fontenot as well, which should put a number of key players on the trade block this offseason.
And aside from Bijan Robinson, I'm not sure anyone is off limits. And maybe not even Robinson.
The Falcons have a very confusing quarterback situation with Kirk Cousins and Michael Penix Jr., though it seems more likely than not that Cousins will leave. Penix is recovering from his latest major knee injury.
I like that this Atlanta defense took a step forward in the pass rush department this past year, but without a first-round pick, they're really relying on player development and free agency to upgrade this roster. Otherwise, a massive renovation project could be underway.
2. New York Giants
If it wasn't for another team firing their head coach in shocking fashion, I would say the Giants have the best overall opening out of any team right now.
The Giants need players to get healthy on both sides of the ball, but I like this team's core with Jaxson Dart at quarterback, Malik Nabers as the go-to weapon at receiver, a backfield of Cam Skattebo and Tyrone Tracy, a strong offensive line, and one of the best defensive fronts in the league.
The Giants have a lot going for them, but they need the right guy to come in and be the straw that stirs the drink. Maybe that will end up being John Harbaugh. All I know is that this should be one of the most coveted jobs on the market.
1. Baltimore Ravens
There is no better job than the Baltimore Ravens' job right now. This is the house John Harbaugh built over the last two decades, but the Ravens have the best combination of roster, front ofice infrastructure, and history of excellence to offer their next head coach.
I would be stunned if this job didn't go to Chargers defensive coordinator Jesse Minter, but we'll see what happens.
The Ravens have an MVP candidate in Lamar Jackson at quarterback. They have a general manager in Eric DeCosta who always does a phenomenal job at finding talent for his team. This was a down year for Baltimore, and it happens to them less than it does to everybody else. This is a great job and coaches will be falling over themselves to land it.
