The top-10 quarterbacks in the NFL have definitely changed from week to week. Let's power-rank them approaching Week 15. Some of the top QBs in the NFL are also right in the mix in the NFL MVP race as well.
It'll be interesting to see how that race shakes out down the stretch, especially considering that it's turned into a QB award at this point. We're now getting into Week 15 of the season, so more playoff-clinching scenarios will happen, and this final month of the regular season gets us situated for the playoffs.
We have power-ranked the top-10 QBs in the NFL weekly. Let's get into our Week 15 rankings.
NFL Power Rankings: Ranking the top-10 quarterbacks entering Week 15
10. Russell Wilson, Pittsburgh Steelers
Let's give credit where it's due; Russell Wilson is playing good football for the Pittsburgh Steelers and has unlocked a different element for the Pittsburgh Steelers offense. Wilson rises up to no. 10 in our latest quarterback power rankings. He's lost just one game as the starter, and was going to be the starter from Week 1 on, but that calf injury kept him on the sideline.
At this point, it's fair to wonder if it's only a matter of time before Wilson and the Steelers agree to some sort of contract extension. While that may not be a great move considering his age, the team may also have no choice. I could see a two or three-year extension pushing $40 million per year for Wilson.
He's probably earned some type of pay raise, and he's now creeping up our QB power rankings.
9. Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs
Patrick Mahomes has most definitely cleaned up the interceptions as of late, and the Kansas City Chiefs just keep finding ways to win games. This team has definitely been more lucky than good at times, but a win is the same in the win column no matter how crazy it seems on the field. Right now, they just need to make sure they finish with a better record than the Buffalo Bills if they hope to secure the no. 1 seed in the AFC playoffs.
And with Mahomes playing more efficient football as of late, that is very likely. Mahomes is no. 9 in our latest QB power rankings. He'll likely enter into a tier of his own when the playoffs roll around, so it may be likely that the Chiefs are again in the Super Bowl in February.
8. Jordan Love, Green Bay Packers
We have talked about Jordan Love's interception problem a lot this year on our QB power rankings, but he could be turning a corner in that regard. Love and the Packers have been a very good team for about a year now, and if you go back to the 2023 NFL Season over the last 19 games Love has started, he's thrown 39 touchdowns against 12 interceptions for a 103.9 rate.
He's taken just 22 sacks during that stretch and has thrown 4,874 yards. Most notably, the Packers are 13-6 across those last 19 games. The Packers are here, and while they may not be able to make a Super Bowl run this season, they're close, and we can all see that. The Detroit Lions are in a tier right above the Packers, so if they simply didn't exist, I would probably pick this team to make the Super Bowl this year.
Jordan Love has played a lot better in recent weeks in simply avoiding interceptions. Love has thrown five touchdowns against zero interceptions over his last three games, so there you go. He's been a very good, borderline elite QB for a while now and is no. 9 on our latest QB power rankings. Can he rise as the regular season goes on?
7. Tua Tagovailoa, Miami Dolphins
Tua Tagovailoa has been on fire since returning from injury for the Miami Dolphins, but that injury may have put the Dolphins in too deep of a hole for them to dig out of. Tagovailoa is an interesting QB; he's been among the most efficient in the NFL for years now, but he hasn't really proven himself to be a top-shelf QB.
The Dolphins may need to put a very good roster around him to get the most out, and with him signing a long-term extension recently, the Dolphins are going to have to do a lot of heavy-lifting to ensure they get the most out of their QB, who also does have an injury problem that may not get better.
6. Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams
Matthew Stafford is playing out of his mind and was able to lead the Los Angeles Rams over the Buffalo Bills in Week 14. That was a huge win for LA, and they will kickoff Week 15 on Thursday Night Football against the San Francisco 49ers. Stafford seems to be aging gracefully, but may only have a couple more years of prime football before Father Time hits.
The Rams started the season 1-4 predominantly because of insane injuries, but they're now 7-6 on the season and feel like the one team in the NFC that I would not want to play in the playoffs. The due of Sean McVay and Matthew Stafford helped lead this team to a Super Bowl in 2021, their first year together, and they could be gearing up for another deep playoff run.
Matthew Stafford's numbers, aside from a few years, have never really jumped off the page, and he's still somehow an underrated QB, but what he's been able to do over the last few games is flat-out insane. He's thrown 10 touchdowns and zero interceptions over his last four games, and the Rams are 3-1 in those games. This team is coming.
5. Jared Goff, Detroit Lions
Jared Goff had a five interception game a few weeks ago, which probably put a huge wrench into his MVP candidacy, and with him being on the Detroit Lions, it actually may be a disadvantage given how insanely good this team is around him. Nonetheless, Jared Goff is again playing elite football and comes it at no. 5 on our latest QB power rankings.
He's played in a Super Bowl before and is on the 12-1 Lions team that has won 11 games in a row. They haven't yet clinched the no. 1 seed in the NFC, but it's becoming likely that they do over the next few weeks. Is this the year that the Lions make a run to the Super Bowl? It's becoming more possible.
4. Sam Darnold, Minnesota Vikings
Is it time to again lump Sam Darnold's name into the MVP conversation? He just threw five touchdown passes against the Atlanta Falcons. He's now got 28 touchdowns against 10 interceptions on the season and is clearly playing the best football of his career. You just have to wonder what the Minnesota Vikings plan on doing with him if he keeps this up.
They're now 11-2 on the season and are just about guaranteed to make the postseason this year. It will be interesting to see if they can make a run with Darnold at QB, as this has never been the type of QB he's played like, but it does to show you just how important coaching is.
He's got a 108.1 passer rating and has thrown for 3,299 yards in 2024. The Vikings have the 9th-best scoring offense in the NFL in 2024 and are total juggernaut. Sam Darnold is a huge reason for that, period.
3. Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills
Arguably the leader for the NFL MVP award, Josh Allen is playing the best football of his career in 2024, and may have said that this is the year that they make the Super Bowl run. It's clear that Allen is better than Patrick Mahomes this year and that the Bills are better than the Chiefs, but a lot of that goes out the window in the postseason.
Allen and the Bills took a pretty bad Week 14 loss against the LA Rams, which makes their quest for the top seed in the AFC very challenging, but that does not take away from how good Josh Allen has been this year.
He's thrown 23 touchdowns against just five interceptions in 2024. The 64.1% completion percentage is a bit lower than you'd like to see, but the Bills sport the 2nd-best scoring offense in the NFL this year. Josh Allen has been a superstar this year.
2. Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens
We're now truly getting into the best of the best at QB this season. Lamar Jackson is yet again having another MVP-caliber season, and he could be in line to win his second MVP award in a row and third overall. The debate between him and Josh Allen is quite interesting. The Bills are 10-3, but the Baltimore Ravens are 8-5.
However, when you watch the games, you'll see that the Ravens defense is just bad and the main reason for this team only having eight wins through their first 13 games. If Baltimore did have the same record as the Bills, I bet we'd be unquestionably talking about Jackson as being the favorite for the MVP.
He's having the best passing season of his career and is again a top-tier threat with his legs. Objectively speaking, Lamar Jackson has been no worse than a top-3 QB in the NFL this year. Jackson comes in at the no. 2 spot in our QB power rankings.
1. Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals
Joe Burrow is playing out of his mind, but he's in a similar but more aggressive situation that Lamar Jackson is in with the Ravens. The Cincinnati Bengals have just five wins through their first 13 games, and while Burrow is having the best year of their career, it's been the defense that has let them down.
It's truly been Trey Hendrickson carrying what he can and then everyone else. People keep trying to say that the Bengals are better than their record indicates, but I have no idea how you arrive at that conclusion. I mean, this team is 13 games into their season and have five wins. How are they any different than their record indicates?
The 2024 Cincinnati Bengals feel like those 2014-2016 New Orleans Saints teams who had an excellent offense with Drew Brees and Sean Payton but the worst defenses in the NFL. They went 7-9 in each of those seasons before figuring their defense out beginning in 2017.
The Bengals will need to hammer-out some defensive players in the 2025 NFL Draft and be very aggressive in free agency in fixing that unit. Burrow would easily be the MVP-favorite in 2024 if the Bengals record was flipped. He's been that good this year.
