With the first week of preseason in the books, let's power rank the NFL as we now turn to Week 2 action. The results from preseason action are never typically a good indicator of how good or bad a team will be.
There are a ton of different ways teams go about deploying players for the preseason, as some teams, like the Kansas City Chiefs, will play their starters, but other teams don't really agree with doing that.
Well, we've got the first week of preseason in the books. Let's unveil our latest NFL power rankings.
NFL Power Rankings after preseason Week 1
32. New Orleans Saints
The New Orleans Saints could end up being the first winless team in the 17-game era, and I truly mean that. This team could win 19 preseason games in a row before the 2025 NFL Season and I would still probably rank them last in the NFL.
31. Tennessee Titans
A blowout loss in the preseason is probably what the Tennessee Titans are going to have to get used to. They are 31st in our power rankings, as they have a long rebuild ahead of them.
30. Cleveland Browns
Shedeur Sanders played well in his NFL debut, so that is definitely worth something, but it's going to be a long season for the Cleveland Browns in 2025.
29. Indianapolis Colts
The Indianapolis Colts are going to struggle at the QB position in 2025, and all of the athleticism in the world is not going to help Anthony Richardson develop into a franchise QB. Both Richardson and Daniel Jones are probably getting multiple starts this year.
28. Carolina Panthers
Losing to Shedeur Sanders and the Cleveland Browns really is not a good look, Carolina...
27. Jacksonville Jaguars
I do believe the Jacksonville Jaguars could be quite fun on offense in the 2025 NFL Season. They've got an offensive whiz of a head coach in Liam Coen and a hyper-athletic player in Travis Hunter as well.
26. New York Giants
Jaxson Dart was another rookie QB who looked quite solid in his NFL debut, so it might only be a matter of time before... you know what, never mind. I won't say a word.
25. New York Jets
The New York Jets had a pretty outstanding first preseason game against the Green Bay Packers, but their QB room is going to bring them down in 2025.
24. Las Vegas Raiders
The Las Vegas Raiders tied with the Seattle Seahawks in their first preseason game, and it's probably going to be a long season for the Raiders. They traded for Geno Smith this offseason, but there is a reason why he was available via trade. Las Vegas is comfortably the worst team in the AFC West for 2025.
23. Seattle Seahawks
Seattle might have something special on their hands with Jalen Milroe, but he is definitely a raw prospect and will absolutely need some time to turn into an NFL-caliber passer. Sam Darnold could be competent in the meantime, though.
22. Atlanta Falcons
The Atlanta Falcons could be a breakout team in the 2025 NFL Season if second-year QB Michael Penix Jr takes off, as the offensive line and weaponry around him are quite good if we're being honest. The defensive line also got a refresh in the offseason as well.
21. Chicago Bears
Tying with the Miami Dolphins in the preseason, the Chicago Bears have been one of the primary storylines of the 2025 NFL Offseason, as they hired Ben Johnson to be their head coach and also have Caleb Williams, one of the most high-profile quarterbacks in the NFL already.
20. San Francisco 49ers
The San Francisco 49ers allowed 30 points in a row to the Denver Broncos in a preseason games that ended up going off the rails, so there's that.
19. Pittsburgh Steelers
It's only a matter of time before the Pittsburgh Steelers fall off the tracks. They're again trying to go all-in with a new starting quarterback in Aaron Rodgers, but the rest of the roster is below-average if you ask me.
18. Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys could be a lethal team on offense with their new offensive trio in Dak Prescott, George Pickens, and Cee Dee Lamb. However, they are weak up the middle on defense, and that is a huge concern.
17. New England Patriots
New England blowing out the Washington Commanders in their first preseason game was absolutely a massive statement win for the team, and this franchise has gotten back on track in a massive way this offseason.
16. Arizona Cardinals
The Arizona Cardinals got a lot better on paper this offseason, as they rebuilt their defensive line, which was their biggest weakness, but it remains to be seen if Kyler Murray is able to finally grab ahold of this franchise for the long-term. He's already in year seven, and what has he done?
15. Miami Dolphins
Tying with the Chicago Bears, the Miami Dolphins could be a formidable team in the 2025 NFL Season if Tua Tagovailoa stays healthy and if the defense can play well, but they've got a very small margin for error.
14. Cincinnati Bengals
The Cincinnati Bengals have to get Trey Hendrickson back on the field, or this season is going down the drain. Everyone knows how good Joe Burrow and Ja'Marr Chase are, but they aren't the ones bringing this team down; it's defense, defense, defense.
13. Detroit Lions
Losing in embarrassing fashion in the Hall of Fame game honestly tells me that the Detroit Lions lack key depth and might suffer coaching-wise without Aaron Glenn and Ben Johnson. Should we be even lower on the Lions for 2025?
12. Green Bay Packers
Getting blown out by the New York Jets at home is flat-out gross, no matter of it's preseason. The Packers are a 'good' team in this league but have not yet taken that leap into being 'great,' like some think the team can be.
11. Houston Texans
The offensive line in Houston is going to be the biggest x-factor for this team in the 2025 NFL Season. If that unit plays well, Houston could become a contender, but if they don't, we might be looking at a third-straight 10-win season.
10. Minnesota Vikings
All eyes should soon be on JJ McCarthy, as he basically inherits a 14-win team from 2024 and truly has everything he needs to be a high-end quarterback in the NFL for more than a decade.
9. Los Angeles Chargers
The Los Angeles Chargers have had a dysfunctional offseason thus far. Losing Rashawn Slater to a knee injury and for the entire season is going to hurt that entire offense, but they should still be a winning football team.
8. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
A massive win over the Tennessee Titans in Week 1 of the NFL preseason, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers boast an underrated roster and perhaps an underrated QB in Baker Mayfield, who threw for 41 touchdowns and 4,500 yards in the 2024 NFL Season.
7. Kansas City Chiefs
Losing to the Arizona Cardinals in Week 1, the Kansas City Chiefs have been one of the more notable teams that plays their starters in the preseason, as Andy Reid clearly believes in the value of doing that. They come in at seventh in our latest power rankings.
6. Washington Commanders
A pretty disastrous lost against the New England Patriots, the Washington Commanders are sixth in our power rankings following preseason action in Week 1. Are we too high on this team for 2025?
5. Denver Broncos
Despite both sides of the ball starting slow for the Denver Broncos, they managed to go on a 30-0 scoring run and got some fun plays from a ton of their key backup players, and that is a scary thought, as Denver's depth might be among the best in the NFL, and that would be a huge advantage for late in the season.
4. Los Angeles Rams
The Los Angeles Rams having a healthy Matthew Stafford for an entire season with this roster is going to propel them on a very deep playoff run in 2025. This team finished 9-3 in 2024 after a shaky 1-4 start.
3. Philadelphia Eagles
Beating the Cincinnati Bengals in preseason Week 1, the Philadelphia Eagles are third in our power rankings as they surely look to avoid the Super Bowl hangover.
2. Buffalo Bills
Losing to the New York Giants, the Buffalo Bills are second in our power rankings and just have not been able to make much progress in the playoffs. We all know the story at this point, but it's only a matter of time before we find out if 2025 is different or not.
1. Baltimore Ravens
Arguably the best roster in the NFL, the Baltimore Ravens are the top team in our power rankings following Week 1 preseason action.
