There are quite a few solid and even great rosters in the NFL. Let's power rank all of them as preseason continues. It's no secret that certain parts of an NFL roster have to be solid if a team wants to sustain success in this league.
The quarterback position is the main piece of a high-end roster, but the offensive and defensive lines have to be solid as well. Furthermore, other key positions like wide receiver and even cornerback must feature some high-end talent.
Anyway, we decided to power rank all 32 roster as the preseason continues and we make our way to the start of the 2025 NFL Season. Let's get into those rankings right here.
NFL Power Rankings: Ranking all 32 rosters as the preseason marches on
32. New Orleans Saints
It’s hard to like much of anything with the New Orleans Saints’ roster, as this franchise might have the worst QB room the NFL has seen in quite some time, and many of their key players are just old and not very good anymore. GM Mickey Loomis has botched this operation ever since Sean Payton left.
31. Tennessee Titans
You do have to be fair to the Tennessee Titans here - they invested into their offensive line in free agency recently and also used the first overall pick on Cam Ward, but this entire system is going to be a long-term project, as the roster still needs another strong offseason or two of adding talent, especially within the play-making units on offense and perhaps in the secondary as well.
30. Cleveland Browns
Our third-worst roster belongs to the Cleveland Browns, a team with some OL concerns and one of the more interesting QB rooms we have seen in the NFL in quite some time. GM Andrew Berry surely did not expect the Deshaun Watson trade to blow up as it did, but here we are. The Browns aren’t going to be a good team in 2025 and may struggle to win five games.
29. Las Vegas Raiders
The Las Vegas Raiders should not have taken Ashton Jeanty with the sixth overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Vegas might have the worst group on defense in the NFL and have major holes in all three phases. The offensive line is a question mark, and Geno Smith is really nothing special. Vegas’ roster is 29th in our power rankings.
28. New York Giants
If nothing else, the New York Giants do have a loaded defensive line, but massive questions along the offensive line and at quarterback have thrown a wrench into things. GM Joe Schoen might be the worst GM in the NFL at this point, as it really does not seem like this year is going to be any different than prior seasons. Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll are on the hot seat.
27. Jacksonville Jaguars
On paper, the Jacksonville Jaguars can be frisky, but I also have to be real with myself; the trenches are below-average, and we still don’t really know if Trevor Lawrence is a franchise QB or not. Travis Hunter was a great selection, but he’s only one player, so this roster is in need of some serious work in the coming years. They come in 27th in our power rankings.
26. Seattle Seahawks
It’s not often that a team that won double-digit games in one season got worse on paper the next. I have no idea what the Seattle Seahawks were trying to accomplish this offseason, but the one thing we can give them credit for is getting a third-round pick for Geno Smith and remaking their QB room with Sam Darnold and Jalen Milroe, as they at least blueprinted a long-term plan at the position if Milroe ends up panning out.
25. Miami Dolphins
Weak in the trenches and average at QB, the Miami Dolphins aren’t going to be very good in the 2025 NFL Season, but if nothing else, the team did see an 11-win season in the only full year that QB Tua Tagovailoa was able to play. If Tagovailoa can stay on the field for a full 17 games, the Dolphins might be able to scrape together a winning season, but GM Chris Grier has really made this roster worse in recent years. There really isn’t anything special about it.
24. Dallas Cowboys
How about them Cowboys? A below-average roster, Dallas could outscore some opponents with the trio of Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, and George Pickens, but the offensive line is a concern, and Dallas feels a bit soft in the middle of their defense. As you can probably see by now, many of the worst rosters in the NFL struggle in the trenches, and that is a recipe for disaster in today’s NFL.
23. San Francisco 49ers
Losing key talent this offseason, this is one of the least-talented San Francisco 49ers’ teams in the Kyle Shanahan era, but they may have a path to a winning record given how easy their schedule is and given how good of a head coach Shanahan is, so they have that going for them. Brock Purdy also got a huge extension this offseason, so they also re-signed their QB and can at least continue to build around him for the long-term.
22. New York Jets
The New York Jets signed Justin Fields in free agency, and that isn’t going to go well. Boasting talent all over the place, the Jets do need another strong offseason of shoring up the weak spots, and they obviously need to find a franchise QB as well, as Fields is on his third team in as many seasons for a reason. The Jets’ roster is not going to be all that competitive in the AFC, as they come in at 22nd in our power rankings.
21. Carolina Panthers
A team to keep an eye on for the 2025 NFL Season, the Carolina Panthers did get some decent QB play from Bryce Young down the stretch in the 2024 season, and GM Dan Morgan has really brought in a ton of new faces since taking over. On paper, we could be talking about the Panthers potentially being on par with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers if Young takes that next step and turns into a franchise quarterback.
20. New England Patriots
Now getting into some rosters with legitimate talent, the New England Patriots have turned a huge corner and are 20th in our roster rankings for the 2025 NFL Season. Mike Vrabel is the head coach, and Josh McDaniels is back yet again as the offensive coordinator, and his presence is going to be huge for the development of Drake Maye in year two. The biggest area of need for the Pats this offseason was the offensive line, as new key additions in Will Campbell and Morgan Moses figure to stabilize that unit.
19. Pittsburgh Steelers
You know, if this was 2020, we’d be talking about the Pittsburgh Steelers being a Super Bowl contender, but it’s not, so they aren’t. Aaron Rodgers is giving it one last year in the NFL and is going to try and get Pittsburgh into the playoffs. Other new additions like DK Metcalf, Jalen Ramsey, and Darius Slay would be amazing gets if it was four or five years ago. Most of us know how this is going to end, right?
18. Arizona Cardinals
The Arizona Cardinals had to rebuild their defensive line this offseason, so they went out and rebuilt their defensive line. A team I love and am ‘buying’ for 2025, the Cards’ roster has really come into shape under GM Monti Ossenfort, but the biggest factor still might be if Kyler Murray can somehow unlock a new level, as it feels like we have been waiting for that for some time now. Murray is already in his seventh year, and it feels like he’s been the same exact QB this entire time.
17. Atlanta Falcons
The Atlanta Falcons really struggled on the defensive side of the ball in the 2025 NFL Season but now do boast a remade defensive line, strong OL, and very good weapons on offense. Second-year QB Michael Penix Jr has everything he needs to break out and help the Falcons compete for the NFC South title, and this is especially true of the DL comes into shape this year. Atlanta’s roster is 17th in our power rankings.
16. Indianapolis Colts
There is some credit for Chris Ballard, the Colts’ GM, as this roster is truly solid at pretty much every single position but quarterback, and that’s been the main thing holding this franchise back. His latest attempt at securing a long-term answer was signing Daniel Jones in free agency and them still hoping that Anthony Richardson develops. It’s very realistic that both Richardson and Jones stink it up in the 2025 NFL Season and leave the Colts again searching for a QB answer.
15. Chicago Bears
Ryan Poles has not had the best tenure as the Chicago Bears’ GM, but this roster is really starting to shape up, as he finally got serious about the offensive line this offseason and totally rebuilt the interior. He also went to the 2025 NFL Draft and added Colston Loveland and Luther Burden III. Their defense was already solid, so on paper, what is this team missing? Well, the clear answer is the QB position, as we do not really know if Caleb Williams is going to take that next step.
14. Los Angeles Chargers
The Los Angeles Chargers seem to be cursed, right? They brought back Mike Williams in free agency, but he retired. Rashawn Slater hurt his knee and is now out for the 2025 NFL Season, and even Najee Harris managed to get hurt in the most random way possible. I am not sure LA did enough to take that next step into contention after a promising 11-win season in 2024.
13. Washington Commanders
I have been very high on the Washington Commanders heading into the 2025 NFL Season, but after taking a closer look at this roster, I struggle to see how they are going to get over the hump if I am being honest. What we saw in 2024 was a rookie QB playing with his pants on fire and some elite coaching. There is a possibility that some of that catches up to them in the 2025 NFL Season, leading to a regression. Roster-wise, it’s a good roster, but nothing special.
12. Green Bay Packers
We’re now getting into some of the better rosters in the NFL approaching the 2025 NFL Season. While the Green Bay Packers may not have a ton of high-end, elite players, they have a slew of ‘good not great’ players, which is still good for something. Winners of 20 regular season games over the past two seasons, this team has been stuck in third gear for multiple seasons and obviously want to break out and hit that fourth and fifth gear. Their roster is 12th in our power rankings.
11. Cincinnati Bengals
Despite the offseason dysfunction for the Cincinnati Bengals, the roster is still good. They added pieces on offense this offseason, recently signing tight end Noah Fant, and are still boasting Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, Mike Gesicki, and Chase Brown. The secondary is also oozing with young talent, so if they can somehow get Trey Hendrickson in the building, this team is cooking with hot grease.
10. Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs lack key talent at positions like offensive line, wide receiver, and even running back. All of those units feel quite average, and even their secondary doesn’t feel all that special. People would freak out if I ranked the Chiefs’ roster lower than this, but they probably deserve it. However, Patrick Mahomes is still on that sideline and can still be the best QB in the NFL whenever he wants.
9. Houston Texans
The Houston Texans seemed to avoid a major injury to CJ Gardner-Johnson, which is huge, as their secondary is going to be a major unit to deal with in the 2025 NFL Season. They’ve got the pass rush down and did add some pieces at wide receiver. The biggest x-factor for this team for 2025 is the offensive line, a unit that saw a ton of change from GM Nick Caserio. All in all, the Texans are built well and are 9th in our power rankings.
8. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Maybe one of the more underrated offensive lines in the NFL, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers also sport a ton of talent all over the place. They could have the best WR trio in the NFL with Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and rookie Emeka Egbuka, a player who has been turning heads all offseason. The defense is solid on paper and really doesn’t need to be all that special with how good the offense is. Tampa’s roster is inside the top-10 and eighth in our power rankings.
7. Los Angeles Rams
The back situation for Matthew Stafford is something to keep an eye on, but the LA Rams are built well where it matters the most, as both the offensive line and defensive line are top-10 in the NFL. The team signed Davante Adams in free agency to pair up with Puka Nacua, and I would not rule out a solid secondary, either. GM Les Snead has hit on a slew of draft picks to rebuild this team following their Super Bowl season in 2021.
6. Minnesota Vikings
The biggest question mark for this roster for the 2025 NFL Season is obviously JJ McCarthy, their de-facto rookie QB. The Vikings rebuilt their offensive and defensive lines this offseason to go with a solid secondary, linebacker unit, and elite talent on offense. If McCarthy is a hit at the position, Minnesota will have everything it needs to make a Super Bowl run and remain as a contender.
5. Denver Broncos
The Denver Broncos aren’t missing much, if anything. Denver added key talent this offseason with Evan Engram, JK Dobbins, Talanoa Hufanga, and Dre Greenlaw. The Broncos already had an elite offensive line, defensive line, and a franchise QB in Bo Nix. Denver has been seen as a team that could win the AFC West this year, as this roster is stronger than the Kansas City Chiefs’ roster.
4. Philadelphia Eagles
Losing some key pieces this offseason, the Philadelphia Eagles’ roster is still excellent, but it’s not the best in the NFL at this point. They are a bit weaker at the QB position and did see some key talent along the DL and secondary depart. Still, though, this team should be a top squad in the NFL and are going to obviously try to not endure a Super Bowl hangover. Their roster is fourth in our power rankings.
3. Detroit Lions
Already dealing with some injuries, the Detroit Lions’ roster is third in our power rankings for the 2025 NFL Season, as this team does have a metric-ton of talent everywhere. Losing Kevin Zeitler in free agency and Frank Ragnow to a shocking retirement might hurt the offensive line, but the key offensive pieces are still there, and pass-rusher Aidan Hutchinson is projected back, so that should be a huge relief for the defense. We’ll see how this team can rebound from losing both Aaron Glenn and Ben Johnson to head coaching jobs.
2. Buffalo Bills
One of the more stout rosters in the NFL, the Buffalo Bills are second in our power rankings for the 2025 NFL Season. Buffalo is bringing back a top-tier offensive line and do have a deep stable of weapons on the offensive side of the ball as well. You get the sense that there is not much more for GM Brandon Beane to do, as this roster is clearly one of the best in the NFL, so something has to give in the playoffs, right?
1. Baltimore Ravens
The best roster in the league belongs to the Baltimore Ravens for the 2025 NFL Season. The only spot that does seem to be a bit shaky is their interior offensive line, but that can honestly be shored up quite quickly if need be. The weaponry is elite, and Lamar Jackson is still a thing. They saw Jaire Alexander enter the mix in the secondary, and their DL is arguably the best in the league. On paper, this team is not missing anything.
