Even this early in the 2025 NFL season, it's been difficult to differentiate teams in the loaded NFC. Heading into Week 6, the NFC looks way more competitive from top to bottom than anticipated going into the season.

All the evidence you need at this point on the competitiveness of the NFC is the fact that there are just four teams with a losing record through five weeks, and nobody is undefeated after the Eagles' loss.

With the aforementioned Eagles getting Week 6 underway against their division rival Giants, we're going to take a look at each team in the NFC heading into Week 6 action and rank them worst to best. This is going to be a fun month of October to see which teams separate themselves.

NFL Power Rankings: Ranking every NFC team worst to best for Week 6

16. New York Giants

The fact that we've got the Giants in this slot speaks volumes to the quality of the conference, because they actually have a decent win already this season against the Los Angeles Chargers. The Jaxson Dart era is officially underway, but the Giants still have a long way to go as a team.

We'll see how they do on Thursday night against the Philadelphia Eagles, who are going to be playing ticked off coming off their first loss of the season.

15. Carolina Panthers

The Panthers just got a nice win in Week 5, a come-from-behind victory against the Miami Dolphins. I really don't want to put the Panthers this low on the list, but as of right now, they have been one of the more inconsistent teams in the NFC. One week, they're getting absolutely blown out. The next week, they're shutting out the Falcons.

I have no idea what to expect from this team on a week-to-week basis, but they've got another fun test coming up this week against the Cowboys.

14. New Orleans Saints

Part of the Saints being this high despite being one of just two teams with one win so far this season in the NFC is the fact that they've played much better than their record indicates. The Saints got their first win of the Kellen Moore era this past weekend, and they played the Bills really well the week before that.

I don't think this team is going to creep into the playoff mix just yet, but the Saints are better than people thought, and Spencer Rattler might be something for them.

13. Arizona Cardinals

I really want to put the Cardinals back further than this in the NFC. They have been dominant on defense through the first three quarters of most of their games, but they've struggled to close things out and that's a combination of things. You've got humiliating mistakes like we saw from running back Emari Demercado this past week, and then you've got just downright defensive incompetence.

The Cardinals have to get it together quickly because they clearly look like the worst team in the NFC West through the first month-plus of the season.

12. Atlanta Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons got themselves an early bye week, which wasn't really needed at all. We'll see how much of a help it is to have the extra rest and preparation time going up against an absolute juggernaut in the Buffalo Bills, especially playing against the Bills off of a loss.

The Falcons have shown both ends of the extreme this offseason. They got shut out by the Panthers, of all teams, but they've also put together a complete performance offensively, dropping 34 points in a win vs. the Commanders back in Week 4. The grade on Atlanta right now is unquestionably "incomplete".

11. Chicago Bears

Just like the Atlanta Falcons, the bye week for the Bears came at a really rough time. The Bears got a blowout win against the Cowboys in Week 3 before following that up with a clutch win against he Raiders in Week 4. If anything, this team would have loved to have gotten the chance to keep things going in Week 5.

They'll have to settle for extended rest and prep time for their matchup on Monday night against Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders. This Chicago team has so much talent on both sides of the ball, but do they have the depth to be able to sustain over 18 weeks?

10. Minnesota Vikings

Speaking of having depth to sustain, how about the job Kevin O'Connell has done with this Vikings team yet again? O'Connell is working with a quarterback who wasn't even with the team this offseason, and frankly, what Carson Wentz has done already is worthy enough to put another Coach of the Year trophy on O'Connell's mantle.

After a two-week stay overseas, the Vikings are getting a well-deserved rest in Week 6. They'll come back with a brutal home game against the Eagles in Week 7.

9. Dallas Cowboys

Few quarterbacks are playing as well so far this season as Dak Prescott. The Dallas Cowboys don't have the talent defensively to play complementary football on a week to week basis, but the offense can score points by the dozen when Prescott is on top of his game.

Even with injuries to the offensive line, Dallas has found ways to be one of the top offeness in the league. Javonte Williams has been a great free agent pickup for them. You can't help but wonder if they can win a few more games in October, does Jerry Jones make a play for someone like Trey Hendrickson?

8. Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks being 8th on this list speaks volumes to the quality of depth this year in the NFC. It's going to be brutal to earn a playoff spot in this conference. The Seahawks got unlucky against the Cardiac Bucs in Week 5, but they have a chance to bounce back in Week 6 on the road against a quality Jaguars team.

Seattle is getting a ton out of Sam Darnold, who is getting everyone involved in the offense. The defense obviously struggled against the Bucs, but they had played well the majority of the season so far.

7. Washington Commanders

The Washington Commanders are simply a different level with Jayden Daniels. Even though they were able to keep things rolling for one week with Marcus Mariota taking his place, they struggled against the Falcons in Week 4. With Daniels back in the lineup this past weekend, they rolled against a tough Chargers defense.

If the Commanders can get that pass rush to come to life each week (Dorance Armstrong and Von Miller have combined for 8.0 sacks this season), they're going to be in the mix at the top of the NFC East.

6. Los Angeles Rams

Just when I started to believe the Rams could put together a nice little run, they went ahead and laid an egg last Thursday night against the San Francisco 49ers. For the Rams to lose to the 49ers, as beaten and broken as the NIners are right now, was a bit of a concern.

There's no reason why we should be throwing in the towel on this team at 3-2 to start the season, but that's now two tight losses in the last three weeks against fellow NFC contenders that could come back to bite them at some point.

5. San Francisco 49ers

There's a lot of season left for things to go off the rails, but the 49ers have to be the most impressive 4-1 team in the NFL right now, right? Nobody could have seen their strong start coming given the injuries they've suffered on both sides of the ball, including a season-ending injury to Nick Bosa.

The 49ers haven't had Brock Purdy for the majority of this season, but Mac Jones has played some outstanding football. Kyle Shanahan is doing his best to take that Coach of the Year award away from Kevin O'Connell and if the 49ers are playing this well when they're down a bunch of quality players, just imagine how good they'll be once guys start coming back.

4. Green Bay Packers

At 2-1-1, the Packers have to feel fortunate right now that things aren't worse for them situationally. They are tied for the fewest wins in the NFC North with the Bears after the first five weeks of the season, but not taking a loss against the Cowboys could be a big deal in the long run with how loaded the NFC is this season.

After the first two weeks of the year, it looked like the Packers were going to take over Detroit's spot atop the NFC North. It's funny how different things are just three weeks later. The Packers have to get a win this weekend against the Bengals, where they'll be facing Joe Flacco already for the second time this season.

3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Hopefully nobody gets tired of me calling them the Cardiac Bucs. As long as they keep proving that's what they are, that's what they'll be. The Buccaneers pulled off another incredible win late against the Seattle Seahawks, and you just see the clutch factor for this team coming through in different ways week after week.

Baker Mayfield is thriving in these situations, but the Bucs' defense finally came through with a huge turnover late against the Seahawks, who had scored touchdowns on five straight possessions at one point. The Bucs aren't perfect, but they know how to close games.

2. Philadelphia Eagles

Right now, the Eagles are hanging on by a thread in these types of team rankings. We're paying our due respects to the reigning Super Bowl champions, even though they haven't exactly played great football this year.

The bottom line is that this team is 4-1 right now, and they have a chance to be the NFL's first 5-1 team with a win against the Giants on Thursday night. Still, it can't be denied that this team is not efficient offensively right now, and that's putting it lightly. They need a get-right game, and they need it fast.

1. Detroit Lions

The Detroit Lions are the most well-oiled machine in the NFC right now. After a bad start to the season against the Packers, the Lions have come back with a vengeance and look like a team. without any real weaknesses at this point.

Detroit's offense is so impressive on a week-to-week basis. They have tremendous balance, and with a healthy Aidan Hutchinson, that defense has a closer it can rely on. When you look at this Lions team, you see a group that is extremely focused on getting that Super Bowl win. I expect them to be aggressive at the NFL trade deadline as well.
