We've talked about this before, but we'll mention it again - there is a ton of parity in the NFL this year, and it could make for some of the more competitive playoff matchups we have ever seen. With no more unbeaten teams in the NFL, there really isn't a clear-cut top team.
The two 5-1 teams in Tampa Bay and Indianapolis each have issues of their own, and those teams being 5-1 also says a lot about the parity in the league as well. As we approach the halfway point of the season in the coming weeks, there promises to be more insane results and some wild playoff pictures.
Let's power-rank every four-win team in the NFL. For the power rankings, we're primarily using the total body of work as the basis and how complete each team appears to be at the moment. Let's get into it.
Power ranking every four-win team as Week 7 continues
11. Pittsburgh Steelers
I have no idea when things are truly going to change for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Dropping to 4-2 with a pathetic loss on Thursday Night Football, the Steelers continue to be the most predictable team in the NFL, and it feels like head coach Mike Tomlin is the root of that all.
The defense is the definition of predictable, and the Steelers have never broken through that 'good' tier. They will never be a great team as long as the status quo remains, and it's remained for years now.
10. San Francisco 49ers
The amount of injuries this team has suffered is insane, and if they were mostly healthy, San Francisco could be ranked a lot higher than this. Mac Jones has filled in quite well for Brock Purdy, but a series of other injuries and limited talent on defense has them lower in our four-win power rankings.
9. Philadelphia Eagles
Riding a two-game losing streak, the Philadelphia Eagles are seeing both sides of the ball decline a bit. The loss of talent in the offseason coupled with the new offensive coordinator has contributed to this, but QB Jalen Hurts is also not someone who can be consistently relied on to throw the ball.
Philly has some soul-searching to do, as this team is staring down a third loss in a row if they can't get past the Minnesota Vikings.
8. Jacksonville Jaguars
No. 8 in our rankings, the Jacksonville Jaguars have a lot going for them right now. The run game has come alive, and the defense is flat-out excellent. First-year head coach Liam Coen has made quick work of this turnaround, but it's pretty clear that the Jags have a limited ceiling for 2025, at least.
Trevor Lawrence has to play a bit better to see this thing really takeoff, and historically, first-year head coaches can only take their teams so far. The Jags are a good team, but they'll likely have their third loss of the season when they face the LA Rams in Week 7.
7. Buffalo Bills
The Buffalo Bills are not a great football team. They've beaten up on bad teams this year but have struggled against the New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons. Now actually second in the AFC East, the Bills have some work to do. They're pretty weak defensively, and the WR room isn't anything special.
Armed with one of the easier schedules in the NFL this year, Buffalo could see yet another chance at a Super Bowl run totally disappear if things do not change here in 2025. I am not sure the Bills are a legitimate contender right now.
6. Los Angeles Chargers
The LA Chargers won their first three games but have since lost two of their past three contests, narrowly escaping against the Miami Dolphins, which isn't great. The Chargers are dealing with a ton of injuries right now and just do not have the depth to make up for many of them.
The RB room has been decimated, and the offensive line is following close behind. Yet another good-not-great team on this list, the Chargers are ranked sixth in our four-win power rankings.
5. Denver Broncos
The Denver Broncos' defense is truly special. With 30 sacks through their first six games, the Broncos are on pace to break the single-season sack record. The secondary is also quite elite, so the only thing that's truly missing here is for the offense to come together.
Even if the offense can be average, the Broncos could ascend and become among the NFL's elite.
4. New England Patriots
The New England Patriots might be a year ahead of schedule right now. Second-year QB Drake Maye is playing out of his mind and should honestly be looked at as an MVP candidate. Maye and the Patriots are now 4-2 on the season and have a ton of wins remaining on their schedule.
They also sit in first place in the AFC East thanks to their win over the Buffalo Bills a couple of weeks ago. Don't look now, but the Patriots might have just completed the quickest rebuild we've seen in quite some time.
3. Los Angeles Rams
The Los Angeles Rams are always going to be a great team as long as Sean McVay and Matthew Stafford are doing their thing. The Rams got back on track in Week 6 with a win over the Baltimore Ravens, and they are now in London and will likely move to 5-2 with a win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.
In the deep NFC West, the Rams could again win the division and might have another deep playoff run in them. This team is well-built from top to bottom.
2. Seattle Seahawks
I was wrong about the Seattle Seahawks when I said this team wasn't going to win many games. One of the more complete teams in the NFL, Seattle is sporting a strong scoring offense and defense. Sam Darnold is again playing out of his mind, and the aggressive Mike Macdonald defense is just that, aggressive and tough to play against.
1. Detroit Lions
I am still riding high with the Detroit Lions this year. The Lions are a juggernaut and the best team in the NFC North if you ask me. Despite losing Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn to head coaching jobs this year, the Lions feel like a contender and can outmatch most teams with their high-end roster talent.
It remains to be seen if this team can make a Super Bowl run, but they're strongest where it matters the most in the NFL, and that can take a team very far.
