Week 2 of the 2025 NFL Season is just about finished. Let's dive into our latest QB power rankings. This felt like one of the wilder weeks we've seen in quite some time. A ton of drama went down this week, and we still have Monday Night Footbal to cap us off.
Our quarterback rankings are going to change from week-to-week, but as the season goes on, things are going to stabilize a bit. We've got our latest QB power rankings, and there promises to be some shocking rankings.
Only time will tell if some of these quarterbacks will be able to keep their high ranking, or if they'll crumble. Conversely, it'll be interesting to see if some of our lower-ranked quarterbacks can improve and rise. Let's get into our Week 2 quarterback power rankings.
Quarterback power rankings after Week 2 action in the 2025 season
32. Cam Ward, Tennessee Titans
In their second loss in two games to open up 2025, Cam Ward and the Tennessee Titans have a lot to figure out, but that is kind of the point here. Ward was more on the raw side and is going to look like a raw QB for a good chunk of the season.
However, the rookie QB has made some insane throws and has definitely looked a bit better than the raw stats might indicate. He’s 32nd in our power rankings, though.
31. Bryce Young, Carolina Panthers
A late rally from Bryce Young and the Carolina Panthers doesn’t really change much. He’s not a good quarterback and is not going to last for the 2025 NFL Season as their starter. Veteran Andy Dalton is the backup and could get some action.
30. Spencer Rattler, New Orleans Saints
Spencer Rattler was actually pretty sharp against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 2, but he’s not yet won a start and is not trending toward being a franchise QB. There isn’t much more to say, either. He’s 30th in our QB power rankings.
29. Justin Fields, New York Jets
Justin Fields barely had a higher completion percentage than he had yards. Yes, you read that right. He threw for 27 yards and completed just 27.3% of his passes. Fields is a bottom-10 quarterback in the NFL on most days and really showed it in Week 2. The Jets also fall to 0-2 and got shellacked by the Buffalo Bills.
28. Tua Tagovailoa, Miami Dolphins
It was a back-and-forth affair for the Miami Dolphins and the New England Patriots in Week 2, but the Dolphins drop to 0-2 on the season and still have way more questions than answers. Tua Tagovailoa is 28th in our latest QB rankings and I suppose can only go up from here. At the end of the day, Tagovailoa is not a bad quarterback, but it’s been a terrible start for Miami this year, and that is often a reflection of their starting passer.
27. Joe Flacco, Cleveland Browns
The Cleveland Browns were not very competitive against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 2, and Joe Flacco feels like more of a placeholder than anything. It would shock me a bit if Flacco was the starter when Week 17 rolled around. The Browns did take Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel in the 2025 NFL Draft, and you get the sense that they want to see what each is made of at some point.
Flacco is also simply a backup-caliber QB at this point and was an average starter in his prime. Flacco is 27th in our power rankings.
26. Trevor Lawrence, Jacksonville Jaguars
Trevor Lawrence has had a so-so start for the Jacksonville Jaguars, as the team is now 1-1 on the season after a close loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. Lawrence simply hasn’t been quite as good as many of us thought he would be coming into the NFL, and this could be a major conversation if he doesn’t really show much improvement as the 2025 season goes on.
The Jags do have some nice pieces in place, but are we truly sure that Lawrence is going to be a long-term QB for them? He’s got four touchdowns and three interceptions on the season and is 26th in our power rankings
25. Mac Jones, San Francisco 49ers
The San Francisco 49ers are now 2-0 on the season, and backup QB Mac Jones truly balled out in Week 2 against the New Orleans Saints, but Mac Jones is still, well, Mac Jones, so we aren’t going to rank him higher than this unless he keeps stacking strong performances.
Brock Purdy has some type of turf toe that will keep him out for a few more weeks, so we’re going to get a solid reading on Jones. The former Patriots and Jaguars QB is in a very solid situation as the 49ers’ backup, as his skillset fits this offense nicely.
24. JJ McCarthy, Minnesota Vikings
I think we need to pump the brakes a bit with JJ McCarthy. Sure, he played well when it mattered the most in the Vikings’ Week 1 win over the Chicago Bears, but he wasn’t all that special in the first three quarters and has made just one career start in the regular season, so let’s calm down.
Sure, the second-year QB but de-facto rookie can end up being excellent, but all this talk of Minnesota having another stud QB needs to be tuned down for a little bit longer. Heck. Bo Nix of the Denver Broncos still has some loud doubters even after a 10-win, 30+ touchdown rookie season.
McCarthy is 24th in our QB rankings.
23. Michael Penix Jr, Atlanta Falcons
Facing JJ McCarthy and the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday Night Football, Michael Penix Jr hopes to lead the Atlanta Falcons back to .500 with a win over his first-round QB mate in JJ McCarthy. Penix is ranked ahead of McCarthy because he looked quite sharp in Week 1, and because Penix did see some action late in 2024, so there is simply more to this QB right now.
Both Atlanta and Minnesota are both surely encouraged by their second-year passers, but the circumstances are a bit different for each one right now.
22. Drake Maye, New England Patriots
Drake Maye and the New England Patriots earn their first win of the Mike Vrabel era with a dramatic victory over the Miami Dolphins Maye completed over 80% of his passes and threw two touchdowns. He’s stll just 23 years old and is someone that is going to get the Patriots into contention at some point down the line.
I am very high on this team and quarterback, and it’s truly only a matter of time before Maye begins to climb these rankings significantly. He’s just outside the top-20 in our latest QB rankings.
21. Caleb Williams, Chicago Bears
Is it time to panic in Chicago? Caleb Williams did not play horribly against the Detroit Lions, but the Bears now have an 0-2 record and have lost their first two divisional games against the Vikings and now Lions. It just does not feel like Chicago is even close to being there, but I guess Williams and the offense could begin to put things together down the stretch?
Heck, I have no idea…
20. Sam Darnold, Seattle Seahawks
I honestly believe that it’s only a matter of time before the Seattle Seahawks come to regret many of their offseason moves. The team won in Week 2, but Sam Darnold tossed two interceptions and wasn’t all that sharp. Seattle moves to 1-1 on the season, but I do not get the sense that this team is going to be good enough to make the playoffs or to hang with the NFC’s top contenders.
And a lot of my doubt falls on the QB. Sam Darnold is 20th in our latest rankings.
19. Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs
Folks, are the Kansas City Chiefs good?
That seems like a weird question, and you would obviously think so say yes, but this team is now 0-2 on the season, and it’s the first time they’ve been 0-2 in the Patrick Mahomes era. During this two-game losing streak to open up the season, there hasn’t been much to like with the Chiefs. Losses to the Chargers and Eagles are absolutely tough opponents, but not only is KC 0-2, but Patrick Mahomes has looked like the worst QB in each matchup.
I am not afraid to say, currently, that the Chiefs just aren’t relevant right now, and frankly aren’t good. Mahomes is 18th in our QB rankings.
18. CJ Stroud. Houston Texans
CJ Stroud and the Houston Texans look to get back on track in Week 2. They get the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at home, and the last time these two teams played in Houston, Stroud was a rookie and led a game-winning drive in the fourth quarter.
The main issue with the Texans has been a below-average offensive line, and that has honestly brought the entire team down. Can Stroud and the Texans’ offense go blow-for-blow with the Bucs on Monday Night Football?
17. Bo Nix, Denver Broncos
Bo Nix was having himself a very strong game against the Indianapolis Colts before an interception ended a very promising drive for the Broncos in the second half. Nix still did throw for three touchdown passes and played a lot better than Week 1, so it’s clear that the second-year Broncos’ starting QB understands how to rebound and isn’t some throw-away passer like some make him out to be.
He does have some work to do in our QB rankings, though.
16. Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles
Jalen Hurts has thrown for zero touchdown passes this year. He’s also thrown for zero interceptions and just 253 yards. Folks, we need to tune it down with Hurts - he is far, far from being a top-5 QB in this league and is clearly not top-10, either. At best, he is an average QB along for the ride on a loaded team.
And it seems like the 2025 NFL Season is going to be more of the same for Hurts and the Eagles. They have won their first two games and notched a very huge win against the Kanas City Chiefs in Week 2.
15. Aaron Rodgers, Pittsburgh Steelers
I was a shaky day for Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers offense in Week 2 against the Seattle Seahawks, but we knew that something like this was coming at some point. Rodgers and the Steelers are now 1-1 on the season and probably needed humbled like this. The four-time NFL MVP is still Aaron Rodgers, so the offense will likely rebound.
14. Geno Smith, Las Vegas Raiders
Geno Smith and the Las Vegas Raiders play on Monday Night Football against the Los Angeles Chargers. Smith and the Raiders go into this game 1-0, but the worry here is if this team can hang around with the best squads in the AFC, as the roster itself just isn’t all that special.
Geno Smith is 14th in our power rankings, and people tend to make Smith to be something he’s not.
13. Kyler Murray, Arizona Cardinals
I have told people to not sleep on the Arizona Cardinals all offseason, and through two games, Arizona is 2-0. Now yes, both of their wins come against below-average NFC South teams, but what else do you want the Cardinals to do? Kyler Murray has now thrown for three touchdowns against one interception and is has been good thus far.
This team could hang around in the NFC West divisional race, but I do believe they are going to fall short there. The veteran QB is 13th in our QB rankings.
12. Russell Wilson, New York Giants
Russell Wilson had one of the best games of his NFL career in Week 2 against the Dallas Cowboys, but the Cowboys ended up making more plays than the Giants and squeaked out with a victory. Wilson tossed 450 yards through the air and three touchdowns in one of the more prolific performances we typically see in today’s NFL.
Wilson was significantly better than his Week 1 dud against the Washington Commanders and has shot up our QB rankings, but there comes a time where the honeymoon ends with Wilson…
11. Baker Mayfield, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Playing on Monday Night Football against the Houston Texans, Baker Mayfield is just outside the top-10 in our QB power rankings for Week 2. Mayfield has really turned his career around with the Bucs and is quite the quarterback now.
The Bucs being able to win in Week 2 gets them to yet another 2-0 start. With the Carolina Panthers and New Orleans Saints being non-factors this year, they’ll again only have to fend off the Atlanta Falcons, and they should be able to do that for 2025, at least.
Mayfield has a plethora of weapons at his disposal and has proven to be able to throw the ball all over the place.
10. Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys
Dak Prescott is a very efficient QB and is going to be higher in our QB power rankings. He’s simply a capable quarterback and can absolutely be top-10 from time to time. Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys got into a major shootout against the New York Giants that actually went into overtime, and the Cowboys prevailed to earn their first win of the season.
It was a wild ending, and Dallas doesn’t win that game with many other quarterbacks, so let’s give Prescott credit where it is due. He’s 10th in our latest QB rankings as Week 2 of the 2025 NFL Season closes out.
The issue here, though, is that Prescott really isn’t going to rise up much more than this - there is definitely a ceiling with the quarterback.
9. Daniel Jones, Indianapolis Colts
Is Daniel Jones… good? He’s thrown for nearly 600 yards and has two touchdown passes through two games, and the Indianapolis Colts are 2-0 on the season after a very wild ending against the Denver Broncos.
To be fair, the Broncos did shoot themselves in the foot time and time again, but Jones and the Colts’ offense simply made big plays when they needed to the most, and it’s shocking, frankly, to see Jones playing this well when it matters the most.
The Colts are currently in the driver’s seat in the AFC South. Can they dethrone the Houston Texans? Jones is currently ninth in our latest QB power rankings.
8. Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals
On one hand, the Cincinnati Bengals are 2-0 for the first time in years, but Joe Burrow has a tuf toe injury and is going to miss a few games, so if nothing else, they did give themselves a bit of a buffer with Burrow now set to be out.
Jake Browning is the Cincinnati Bengals’ backup quarterback and is definitely capable, so the Bengals might be able to escape this Burrow-less stretch with not many blemishes on their record. For now, Joe Burrow is eighth in our power rankings, but he’s actually going to be off of these rankings entirely when Browning officially takes over as the starter in Week 3 and beyond.
7. Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams
Matthew Stafford has a 107.1 passer rating through two games and has led the LA Rams to a strong 2-0 start. This team was just 1-4 through five games last year, so they are already in a much better spot. The Rams are going to make a very deep playoff run if they can stay healthy, and this is especially true for Matthew Stafford, who had some odd back ailment for some of the offseason.
Stafford is seventh in our latest QB power rankings and is definitely someone who could climb up a the season goes on.
6. Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers
Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers play the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday Night Football in Week 2, so we will see Herbert and Geno Smith later on Monday. Herbert is sixth in our QB power rankings after a very strong performance in Week 1, a win over the Kansas City Chiefs.
This is about as high as I could rank Herbert, though, as I truly believe he’s got a ceiling to him. Sure, he can put up some efficient numbers, but what else is there? Is he ever going to lead the LA Chargers on a deep playoff run?
Will the Chargers ever get a Super Bowl out of Justin Herbert? He’s good, yes, but just how good?
5. Jayden Daniels, Washington Commanders
Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders lost a tough game on Thursday Night Football against the Green Bay Packers, but Daniels is still among the best quarterbacks in the NFL and is going to keep this team in contention for the entire season. I do wonder how much a lack of high-end talent is going to hurt this team, but that could turn things more onto Daniels, so I will be watching here to see how that shakes out.
I am very high on this young QB and have no problem ranking him fifth in our latest QB power rankings
4. Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills
Josh Allen did not light the world on fire in Week 2, but the Buffalo Bills move to 2-0 on the season after a blowout of the New York Jets. Allen and the Bills are going to cruise to another AFC East title, as the Jets, Dolphins, and Patriots are all very flawed, so unless something major happens, the Bills will be atop the division.
Allen is fourth in our updated QB power rankings and is the best QB in the NFL in certain weeks, but he’s dropped a slot or two here in our Week 2 rankings.
3. Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens
Lamar Jackson is not human. He’s simply excellent in every sense of the world and is already an all-time great QB no matter what other people say. He’s currently third in our QB rankings but is typically the best quarterback in the NFL at any given time.
The Baltimore Ravens earned a statement win over the Cleveland Browns after their second-half collapse in Week 1 against the Buffalo Bills. Can Jackson and the Ravens finally ge over the hump and perhaps make a deep playoff run this year?
2. Jared Goff, Detroit Lions
Jared Goff threw five touchdown passes in a blowout win over the Chicago Bears in Week 2 of the 2025 NFL Season, and he’s second in our QB power rankings. Goff and the Detroit Lions seemed to be written off a bit after Week 1, but they definitely silenced some doubters in Week 2.
Goff has been an excellent QB for the majority of his career and has played a ton of football, so there is absolutely a higher floor with this quarterback. He’s second in our power rankings.
1. Jordan Love, Green Bay Packers
Jordan Love has thrown four touchdown passes this year against zero interceptions and has a 120 passer rating. He and the Green Bay Packers have cruised to a 2-0 record with wins over the Detroit Lions and Washington Commanders.
You could argue that a few other quarterbacks could be at the top of our list, but I do believe Love is trending that way at the moment. He’s first in our QB power rankings, but can he keep this high ranking in Week 3 and beyond?
