We are just one day away from the bulk of Week 3 action in 2024. Let's look at three teams who already need to make a change at quarterback. It's been just two games for these teams, but making a change at QB already feels necessary. There is no secret formula in the NFL; in order to consistently win games, you need above-average QB play.

And in order to win Super Bowls, you need an elite quarterback. Sure, other factors like competent head coaching and good trench play are important, but nothing is more important than that franchise QB. Teams must become more aggressive in trying to find "the guy" at QB. And that may also involve not having as much patience for a QB's development as was previously done.

New York Giants

I am sorry, but what NFL franchise is going to be taken seriously starting Daniel Jones each week? None. It was bad enough that the New York Giants went into the year with Jones as the starter, but not having a rookie QB to at least serve as his backup was malpractice. Giving Jones that contract extension was a fireable offense by GM Joe Schoen.

And the Giants have an 0-2 record to show for it, to the surprise of no one. It's just so insane to think that this franchise is operating the way that they are, and my concern is that head coach Brian Daboll, who is a much better head coach than Schoen is a GM, is going to get pushed out the door. The Giants need to blow this entire thing up.

They have spotty talent, bottom-3 QB play, and an offensive line that could definitely use another quality starter. There is virtually nothing redeemable about the New York Giants. The least they can do for the sake of their fans is to give Drew Lock a shot. He's also quite bad, but he's more fun at least.

Tennessee Titans

Will Levis is hilarious, man. Levis plays quarterback like he's in the backyard with his best buddies. It's just odd to see an NFL quarterback playing like he does, and I am not sure that Tennessee Titans head coach Brian Callahan is at all a fan of Levis, the second-year QB.

Levis has somehow been able to create two of the most notable and goofy images of the 2024 NFL Season thus far:

And here's Brian Callahan to Levis after a brutal turnover:

"What the **** are you doing," says Callahan. It's been a brutal start to the season for Levis, and I am not sure there is anything that he can hang his hat on to warrant remaining as the Tennessee Titans QB1. The team signed Mason Rudolph in free agency this past season, so at some point we may see Rudolph.

Sure, you can argue that Levis actually gives the Titans a better chance to lose and to secure a higher draft pick, but the Titans do have a pretty talented roster, so I am not sure they are trying to lose games here. The Titans may also owe it to their roster and fans to pull Levis in favor of the much more stable Rudolph.

Brian Callahan is in year one of his tenure, so he's got a pretty long leash at this point. And based on what we've heard him say about Will Levis, I am not sure he even likes the guy on a personal level. The Will Levis era in Tennessee might already be speeding to its end.

The Titans made a ton of moves on the offensive side of the ball this offseason, signing players like Calvin Ridley, Tyler Boyd, Tony Pollard, and Lloyd Cushenberry. Titans GM Ran Carthon clearly went all-in and tried to give Levis the best shot to win and play well, and while it's only been two games, Levis has shown virtually nothing positive.

It's time for the Titans to make a change.

Cleveland Browns

The Cleveland Browns have a mess on their hands with Deshaun Watson, who is not a good QB anymore. In 14 games for the Browns, the team has gone 9-5, but Watson has thrown for just 15 touchdowns against 11 interceptions. He's completed less than 60% of his passe and has a poor passer rating of 78.2.

He's also thrown for just 183.7 yards per game. Wherever you look, you won't find many positives about Watson's time with the Browns, and this has now gone on for nearly an entire season. If we take his last 17 starts in the NFL, Watson has thrown 23 touchdowns against 12 interceptions along with 3,634 yards. The passer rating is a little better at 87.9 across the last 17.

But guys, the Browns aren't going to win many games with this type of QB play. The roster is among the best in the NFL and was designed to win now, so head coach Kevin Stefanski may have to make a bold move soon and bench Watson. The Browns did win in Week 2 against the Jaguars, but Watson wasn't great and their defense was on fire.

Cleveland's backup QB is Jameis Winston, who is surely someone who could give the Browns a better chance to win. Benching Watson only temporarily fixes their issues, as his contract is clearly the worst in sports and is just not moveable for multiple seasons.

It'll be interesting to see what Browns General Manager Andrew Berry is able to do here. And if you think about it, the Browns being able to win nine of 14 starts with Watson is quite impressive. Kevin Stefanski deserves a lot of credit, as does defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz.

Can the Browns do the right thing and finally bench Deshaun Watson?
