One of the more interesting teams to follow when draft season rolls around is the Arizona Cardinals. In this 2024 NFL Mock Draft, they make some bold moves. The Cardinals currently have the third overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, which might take them out of the Caleb Williams and Drake Maye sweepstakes.
A huge question for this team when draft season rolls around is whether or not they would stick with Kyler Murray. Personally, I believe that Murray is one of the most talented passers in the league, and I think they should stick with him, but if they get an offer they can't refuse, why not make the move? The current regime in Arizona did not draft or extend Murray, so perhaps they want to go in a different direction.
Let's put together a 2024 NFL Mock Draft for the Arizona Cardinals
Arizona Cardinals make massive moves in 2024 NFL Mock Draft
11th Overall Pick - Keon Coleman, WR, Florida State
The first major move made here is trading down from the third overall spot down eight spots and still being able to land the second-best wide receiver in the class. This draft is going to be about helping Kyler Murray and reloading on the offensive side of the ball. Keon Coleman is 6'4" and has all the makings of a future WR1 in the NFL.
14th Overall Pick - Jer'Zhan Newton, DT, Illinois
Fixing the offense is a huge priority for the Cards, but this team needs serious help on both sides of the ball, especially along the defensive line. Jer'Zhan is arguably the best defensive player in the 2024 NFL Draft class and would give the Cardinals more juice up front for Jonathan Gannon to use.
34th Overall Pick - Jared Verse, EDGE, Florida State
I'm honestly shocked as to how Jared Verse fell to me in this mock draft, but my goodness, what a haul so far for the Arizona Cardinals. The team picks up one of the best defensive players in the 2024 NFL Draft with Jared Verse. The finishing touches on this defense are being made in this massive mock draft.
38th Overall Pick - Donovan Jackson, OG, Ohio State
Continuing the trend of helping out Kyler Murray on offense, the Arizona Cardinals use the 38th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft to beef up their offensive interior. Their starting tackles of DJ Humphries and Paris Johnson seem like a rock-solid duo they can keep around for years to come, but getting help along the iOL is a must.
42nd Overall Pick - Quinyon Mitchell, CB, Toledo
Their third second-round pick in this 2024 NFL Mock Draft shifts gears a bit and has them adding some help to the secondary with Quinyon Mitchell out of Toledo. He has 45 passes defended in his college career, but with only one interception, this might be someone like Ronald Darby at the next level- a good cover corner but not someone who you can expect to come away with a ton of interceptions.
67th Overall Pick - Michael Penix Jr, QB, Washington
How are we getting this lucky with this mock draft? One of the best QBs in the nation has fallen to us at the top of the third round, so Cardinals GM Monti Ossenfort makes the move to bring in a long-term QB2 who might be able to take over as the franchise QB at some point in the future.
71st Overall Pick - Rod Moore, S, Michigan
81st Overall Pick - Will Shipley, RB, Clemson
98th Overall Pick - McKinnley Jackson, DT, Texas A&M
131st Overall Pick - Luke Lachey, TE, Iowa
145th Overall Pick - Ricky Pearsall, WR, Florida
181st Overall Pick - Ashton Gillotte, EDGE, Louisville
197th Overall Pick - Aaron Casey, LB, Indiana
A whopping 13 picks were made by the Arizona Cardinals in this 2024 NFL Mock Draft, and they have to be pleased with this haul, as they were able to address their most urgent needs and brought in legitimate talent to help get Kyler Murray. What would you change about this mock draft?
