The Buffalo Bills roster is surely going to look a lot different in 2024. After another heartbreaking playoff loss, the Bills look to restock the cupboard in this 2024 NFL Mock Draft. Free agents on defense for the Buffalo Bill include DaQuan Jones, Tim Settle, Linval Joseph, Jordan Phillips, Poona Ford, AJ Epenesa, and Shaq Lawson.
Offensive free agents include Gabe Davis, Trent Sherfield, Quintin Morris, Damien Harris, Latavius Murray, and David Edwards. It's abundantly clear that Buffalo is going to need to bring in some help along the defensive front and at wide receiver. Furthermore, according to Over The Cap, the Bills are currently $43 million OVER the 2024 cap number.
Like many teams, Buffalo can create some cap space with restructures and extensions, but one thing is for certain: they are going to enter a new era with much of their defense. I think we might be in store for a bit of a reset year for Buffalo as they prepare to turn the page on this current roster core.
Well, now that their season is over, they will at some point turn their full attention to 2024 free agency and the 2024 NFL Draft.
Buffalo Bills 2024 NFL Mock Draft: Rebuilding the trenches and adding weapons
29th Overall (via PHI) - Xavier Legette, WR, South Carolina
I traded down one spot and netted a third-round pick in 2025 from the Philadelphia Eagles. To ease Gabe Davis potentially leaving in free agency and Stefon Diggs getting old, I add another playmaker to the offense in Xavier Legette. Legette is huge; he's 6'3" and 225lbs. His size does not take away from the speed or overall insane playmaking ability
Trading down one spot for a player like Legette is a no-brainer, as the Bills net a pick for the future.
60th Overall - Kris Jenkins, DT, Michigan
Yes, this is the son of former NFL All-Pro, Kris Jenkins. The junior Jenkins has NFL blood and is an overall great prospect. Here's more on Jenkins from Ian Cummings:
"Being the son of a former NFL All-Pro, it’s no surprise that Jenkins has some of the most enthralling tools in the class. He’s an incredibly explosive athlete off the snap, both laterally and vertically, and has suffocating strength at the point of attack.Ian Cummings
Going further, with his burst, twitch, and mass, Jenkins can levy impressive amounts of power into his attacks, and as he trends up with his hand usage and energy efficiency, it’s exciting to think about the potential that remains unearthed."
In 15 games for Michigan this year, Jenkins racked up 4.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks.
124th Overall - Javon Solomon, EDGE, Troy
Adding more help along the defensive front is going to be a huge priority for this team in free agency and in the 2024 NFL Draft. In the fourth round, they land Javon Solomon from Troy. Solomon stands at 6'2" and weighs 245lbs, so he is a bit undersized. Solomon has played five years in college and was just uber-productive in 2023, racking up 18 tackles for loss and 16 sacks, both career highs.
Solomon seems to be someone the Bills could deploy as a pass-rush specialist early in his career. He's got 49.5 career TFLs and 33 sacks over his career at Troy, which spanned 52 games. I think the amount of collegiate experience here is going to be a huge plus for Solomon.
153rd Overall - Keith Randolph Jr, DT, Illinois
Keith Randolph Jr is going to be the pick at 153 overall for the Buffalo Bills. What sticks out to me at first is his size. He's 6'5", so he's got nice length, especially for interior offensive linemen, who can be several inches shorter. Randolph has been at Illinois for five years and has career highs of 13 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks. With the amount of free agents that the Buffalo Bills have along the defensive front, they have to hit on some of these late-round picks.
156th Overall - Jaylin Simpson, CB, Auburn
180th Overall - Josh Proctor, S, Ohio State
184th Overall - Xavier Thomas, EDGE, Clemson
188th Overall - Erick All, TE, Iowa
220th Overall - Keandre Lambert-Smith, WR, Penn State
With a metric ton of late-rounders, I continued to try to bolster some of the weak spots on this rsoter, adding more players in the secondary, another player off the EDGE, and a couple of weapons for Josh Allen. Xavier Thomas has spent six years at Clemson, racking up career numbers of 33 tackles for loss and 18 sacks. Erick All comes from the tight end factory at Iowa, and Josh Proctor is another six-year collegiate player.
I do truly think that prioritizing experience is a safe bet for the late-rounders. With this mock draft, I am eyeing the future for the Bills, as their cap crunch and free agents may force them to transition to a youth movement in 2024.
