Having a stout offensive line in the NFL is a must if a team wants to sustain success. Let's rank all 32 projected starting offensive lines in the NFL. In what proved to be a tough exercise, I found that there were quite a bit of average offensive lines in the NFL.
The way I see it, tackle play is always a premium, but I do not think teams have many troubles finding production along the interior OL. There are some top units here that happen to be on elite teams, and that is no coincidence. In this league, games are won in the trenches, so without a strong offensive line, any team is doomed, frankly.
Let's rank all 32 projected starting offensive lines for 2024, with depth charts provided by Ourlads.
Ranking all 32 NFL projected starting offensive lines for the 2024 NFL Season
32. Washington Commanders - Cornelius Lucas / Nick Allegretti / Tyler Biadasz / Sam Cosmi / Andrew Wylie
Why didn't the Washington Commanders do more along their offensive line? Why did GM Adam Peters spend money in free agency on washed-up players like Austin Ekeler, Bobby Wagner, and Zach Ertz? What is the plan here?
31. Tennessee Titans - JC Latham - Peter Skoronski / Lloyd Cushenberry / Daniel Brunskill / Dillon Radunz
Ran Carthon, the Titans GM, has spent some draft capital and free agency money on improving this unit, but until they can prove that they are not a liability, they'll be ranked this low.
30. Seattle Seahawks - Charles Cross / Laken Tomlinson / Olu Oluwatimi / Christian Haynes / Abe Lucas
The Seattle Seahawks interior offensive line might be the worst in football, and their young tackles still need to find their footing, but this OL lineup has some potential.
29. Arizona Cardinals - Jonah Williams / Elijah Wilkinson / Hjalte Froholdt / Will Hernandez / Paris Johnson
You have to wonder why the Arizona Cardinals gave OT Jonah Williams $15 million per season. I mean, he was fine at RT for the Cincinnati Bengals, but he's quite poor at the left side. Kyler Murray might still be running for his life in 2024.
28. Pittsburgh Steelers - Troy Fautanu / Isaac Seumalo / Zach Frazier / James Daniels / Broderick Jones
The Pittsburgh Steelers used 2024 draft picks on Troy Fautanu and Zach Frazier. Isaac Seumalo and James Daniels were recent free agency signings. There isn't a doubt that the team has invested into this unit. The iOL seems like the better part of this line than the tackles.
27. New England Patriots - Chuks Okorafor / Cole Strange / David Andrews / Sidy Sow / Mike Onwenu
Mike Onwenu might be my favorite player in the NFL. It was a huge plus that the New England Patriots kept him around, but some uncertainties at left tackle and along the interior make this unit one of the bottom ones in the NFL.
26. Green Bay Packers - Jordan Morgan / Elgton Jenkins / Zach Tom / Josh Myers / Rasheed Walker
The Green Bay Packers might have to do more tweaking for this unit, but at least Jordan Love is a baller who can get the ball out quickly and who can probably overcome weaknesses along this unit. Jordan Morgan was a 2024 NFL Draft pick.
25. New Orleans Saints - Taliese Fuaga / Oli Udoh / Erik McCoy / Cesar Ruiz / Ryan Ramczyk
The New Orleans Saints OL got some reinforcements with Taliese Fuaga in the first round. If he pans out, this offensive line might be in a great spot. Ryan Ramcyzk's knee could force him to retire. Only time will tell there.
24. Las Vegas Raiders - Kolton Miller / Dylan Parham / Andre James / Jackson Powers-Johnson / Thayer Munford
Man, the Las Vegas Raiders have had a disaster of an offseason. Jackson Powers-Johnson was a fine pick, but not much else went there way, and the Raiders OL still remains pretty weak on paper until proven otherwise.
23. New York Giants - Andrew Thomas / Jon Runyan / John Michael Schmitz / Jermaine Eluemunor / Evan Neal
Joe Schoen used his 6th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft on a new set of wheels while his car leaks fluids and the windshield remains cracked. The OL is bad and the QB play his bad, but hey, at least he got the second-best wide receiver in the class!
22. Dallas Cowboys - Tyler Guyton / Tyler Smith / Brock Hoffman / Zack Martin / Terence Steele
The Dallas Cowboys OL may all of a sudden be a huge weakness in 2024. Letting Tyron Smith walk was pretty symbolic of the Cowboys offseason thus far. It's been depressing and far from the "all in" comments that Jerry Jones made.
21. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Tristan Wirfs / Ben Bredeson / Graham Barton / Cody Mauch / Luke Goedeke
The Buccaneers used a pick on Graham Barton in the 2024 NFL Draft and have some encouraging pieces along this unit. Tristan Wifs is just excellent, so I think the Bucs OL can shoot up these power rankings in a short time.
20. Chicago Bears - Braxton Jones / Teven Jenkins / Ryan Bates / Nate Davis / Darnell Wright
Nowhere on the OL is there a real liability for the Chicago Bears, but it's not a great unit at all. Caleb Williams providing better QB play than Justin Fields should take some strain off of this starting five. This OL is still a bit of a work in progress, though.
19. Carolina Panthers - Ikem Ekwonu / Damien Lewis / Austin Corbett / Robert Hunt / Taylor Moton
You cannot fault the Carolina Panthers for investing a ton of money into this unit this offseason, signing a pair of guards in Damien Lewis and Robert Hunt. If Austin Corbett can successfully make the transition to center, the Panthers have something here. The biggest question mark isn't Corbett, but LT Ikem Ekwonu, who was a disaster in 2023.
18. Jacksonville Jaguars - Cam Robinson / Ezra Cleveland / Mitch Morse / Brandon Scherff / Anton Harrison
I do see the light here with the Jaguars offensive line, but Cam Robinson and Anton Harrison need to settle more into their respective tackle positions. Mitch Morse was a strong free agency addition for the Jags.
17. Buffalo Bills - Dion Dawkins / David Edwards / Connor McGovern / O'Cyrus Torrence / Spencer Brown
16. Houston Texans - Laremy Tunsil / Tytus Howard / Juice Scruggs / Shaq Mason / Blake Fisher
We're starting to get there. The Houston Texans OL does have a strong argument to be higher, but there are small questions at one guard spot and at the right tackle position. Something about Blake Fisher being from Notre Dame and having the last name Fisher makes me think he'll be a very good NFL starter.
15. Los Angeles Chargers - Rashawn Slater / Zion Johnson / Corey Linsley / Jamaree Salyer / Joe Alt
In my opinion, there was no other correct choice than to take OT Joe Alt at pick five. Games in the NFL are won in the trenches, so for all the Chargers fans who were angry at the pick, don't be. The Chargers OL finally seems to be getting itself situated.
14. San Francisco 49ers - Trent Williams / Aaron Banks / Jake Brendel / Jon Feliciano / Kolton McKivitz
A first-ballot Hall of Fame left tackle, Trent Williams does a lot of heavy-lifting for this unit, but Kolton McKivitz is a fine right tackle and the interior is serviceable.
13. Baltimore Ravens - Ronnie Stanley / Andrew Vorhees / Tyler Linderbaum / Ben Cleveland / Roger Rosengarten
I kind of regret putting the Baltimore Ravens this high on the list, as there are huge question marks everywhere along this unit, but the ceiling is obvious. Why did they give away Morgan Moses to the New York Jets?
12. Los Angeles Rams - Alaric Jackson / Jonah Jackson / Steve Avila / Kevin Dotson / Rob Havenstein
A strong starting five, the Los Angeles Rams are going to win the battle up front many times this coming season, and with QB Matthew Stafford being lethal from the pocket, don't be surprised if this unit and Stafford take less than 25 sacks this year.
11. Miami Dolphins - Terron Armstead / Isaiah Wynn / Aaron Brewer / Robert Jones / Austin Jackson
Two strong tackles and nice iOL play, the Miami Dolphins OL was special in 2023. Tua Tagovailoa is another player that can win from the pocket and get the ball out on time, so he does do his offensive line a ton of favors.
10. Minnesota Vikings - Christian Darrisaw / Blake Brandel / Garrett Bradbury / Ed Ingram / Brian O'Neill
The Vikings offensive line is a nice set-up for rookie QB JJ McCarthy if he ends up winning the starting job. You have to wonder if Dalton Risner ends up re-signing here, as Ed Ingram is a liability at guard, but it's one of the better units in the NFL.
9. Cincinnati Bengals - Orlando Brown Jr / Cordell Volson / Ted Karras / Alex Cappa / Trent Brown
Do the Bengals finally have a good offensive line? The only spot here I think could be a problem is Cordell Volson, but man, Joe Burrow might finally have good protection, and the Bengals double-downed here with Amarius Mims in the 2024 NFL Draft.
8. Kansas City Chiefs - Wanya Morris / Joe Thuney / Creed Humphrey / Trey Smith / Jawaan Taylor
Probably the best interior offensive line in the NFL, the Kansas City Chiefs have had inconsistencies at tackle for a few years now, but Andy Reid is an offensive line savant, so we'll probably see the Chiefs tackles end up settling in for 2024.
7. Denver Broncos - Garett Bolles / Ben Powers / Alex Forsyth / Quinn Meinerz / Mike McGlinchey
The Denver Broncos offensive line allowed a ton of sacks in 2023, if you weren't paying attention. Most of those sacks were the fault of Russell Wilson, who always holds onto the ball for too long. Denver's OL is four starters strong and is one of the best in the NFL.
6. Indianapolis Colts - Bernhard Raimann / Quenton Nelson / Ryan Kelly / Will Fries / Braden Smith
The Colts have a nice set-up for second-year QB Anthony Richardson to take a huge leap forward in 2024. If he can do that, the Colts are going to be dangerous, and them having a stout offensive line is a huge advantage.
5. New York Jets - Tyron Smith / John Simpson / Joe Tippmann / Alijah Vera-Tucker / Morgan Moses
Hats off to Jets GM Joe Douglas for his work in fixing the offensive line this year. He's got two new tackles in Tyron Smith and Morgan Moses and also enhanced the interior with free agency addition John Simpson. Do the Jets have a weakness on the OL now?
4. Cleveland Browns - Jedrick Wills Jr / Joel Bitonio / Ethan Pocic / Wyatt Teller / Jack Conklin
Constantly one of the best units in the NFL, the Cleveland Browns offensive line paves the way for their always-strong run game. We'll see when and if Nick Chubb can return in 2024, but that doesn't change the Browns OL being one of the best in the league.
3. Atlanta Falcons - Jake Matthews / Matthew Bergeron / Drew Dalman / Chris Lindstrom / Kaleb McGary
Kirk Cousins playing behind a strong offensive line? That could be a first. The Atlanta Falcons are solid in all five positions along the OL and should sport both an prolific passing and rushing attack in 2024.
2. Philadelphia Eagles - Jordan Mailata / Landon Dickerson / Cam Jurgens / Tyler Steen / Lane Johnson
Maybe the best tackle duo in the NFL, the Philadelphia Eagles will now be without future Hall of Fame center Jason Kelce for the first time in years. Those shoes will be massive to fill, but that doesn't change how dominant this unit has been for what seems like forever now.
1. Detroit Lions - Taylor Decker / Graham Glasgow / Frank Ragnow / Kevin Zeitler / Penei Sewell
Oh yes, this is the good stuff. The best offensive line in the NFL by a wide margin, the Detroit Lions made perhaps my favorite free agency addition in 2024, signing OG Kevin Zeitler to replace the departed Jonah Jackson. Zeitler fits perfectly into the Lions rugged, knee-cap biting culture instilled by Dan Campbell.
This OL is going to terrorize opposing defensive lines in 2024.
