The Denver Broncos do have a chance to fill some long-term needs on their roster, and they do this in this 2024 NFL mock draft. The clearest way for the Broncos to set themselves up nicely for the long-term might be to trade down from their 12th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. In that scenario, they might be able to land Oregon's Bo Nix, who is a great fit for Sean Payton's offense.
Then, with the extra capital they got from the trade down, they could look to fill their additional long-term needs. With a strong coaching staff in place, the Denver Broncos could be a dangerous team in the present and future if they can do well in the NFL Draft. Let's put together a Broncos mock draft that gives them hope for the long-term.
This Denver Broncos mock draft gives team long-term success
29th Overall (via DET) - Bo Nix, QB, Oregon
I think the Denver Broncos don't have to sit at 12 to land Bo Nix. I believe they can trade down pretty significantly and land the efficient passer, who has a perfect skillset for Sean Payton's offense. The Broncos actually trade down two times in order to land at the 29th overall pick, where they rush to the podium to draft Bo Nix, who I think can be their Week 1 starter.
56th Overall (via DAL) - T'Vondre Sweat, DT, Texas
The first trade-down offer I accepted came from the Dallas Cowboys, so I was able to land their second-round pick, and with it, the Denver Broncos land T'Vondre Sweat, a defensive lineman who is sure to give the Broncos DL a boost. Denver's run defense was among the worst in football last year, and they hardly did anything in free agency to make it better.
They constantly lost the line of scrimmage on defense, but now with Sweat in the mix, they have the piece they were desperately missing.
60th Overall (via BUF) - Ja'Tavion Sanders, TE, Texas
Another long-term need for the Denver Broncos is finding a viable receiving tight end. The team likely had hoped that Greg Dulcich could have developed into that player, but he hardly played in 2023 due to a nagging hamstring injury that's been with him for multiple years now. Their top two tight ends on their depth chart include Adam Trautman and Dulcich.
Eh.
Ja'Tavion Sanders would be a lovely weapon for rookie QB Bo Nix to use. And frankly, the totality of Denver's skill players on offense is below-average, but their TE situation is more dire than their situation at wide receiver. With this being a very deep WR class, Denver could still find some WR production later than this pick, so that's another reason why I went TE here.
66th Overall (via ARI) - Ricky Pearsall, WR, Florida
Ricky Pearsall enjoyed the best year of his collegiate career in 2023 with the Florida Gators. He's also an exceptional athlete, as evidenced by his amazing Relative Athletic Score:
Ricky Pearsall is a WR prospect in the 2024 draft class. He scored a 9.90 #RAS out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 32 out of 3121 WR from 1987 to 2024.https://t.co/jff1C8sPXH pic.twitter.com/VAUweLJziY

The Denver Broncos top wide receivers at this point include Courtland Sutton, Marvin Mims Jr, and Tim Patrick. It's hardly an inspiring room, as the team simply needs another viable WR on this roster. Now adding Sanders and Pearsall in back-to-back picks, along with getting their franchise QB, the offense is taking shape.
104th Overall (via ARI) - Austin Booker, EDGE, Kansas
Austin Booker is 6'6" and 240lbs, so he's got great size. He also had 12 tackles for loss and eight sacks in 2023 for Kansas, so he's no stranger to the backfield, either. Denver has a cast of strong rotational pass rushers in Baron Browning, Jonathon Cooper, and Nik Bonitto, but don't have a game-wrecker off the edge that many other teams do.
Perhaps their mock draft additions of T'Vondre Sweat and Austin Booker give this defensive front the juice they have needed for a while.
145th Overall - Tanor Bortolini, OC, Wisoncin
With the departure of Lloyd Cushenberry in free agency, the Denver Broncos could have a huge hole at center. Tanor Bortolini comes on board and slides into a young center group that has Alex Forsyth and Luke Wattenberg.
203rd Overall - Jarius Monroe, CB, Tulane
The team did not see Damarri Mathis make a second-year leap like they had hoped, so he was benched for veteran CB Fabian Moreau. The team has Riley Moss who could be in line to takeover the CB2 duties opposite Patrick Surtain II, but they should still look to add to the room in the 2024 NFL Draft.
207th Overall - Trey Taylor, S, Air Force
The team is now in life after Justin Simmons and Kareem Jackson. They signed Brandon Jones in free agency and also re-signed PJ Locke III. Their safety room is quite a bit younger and promising, but it could use another piece, so I went with Trey Taylor here.
2025 DAL 2nd
With all of the trading down present in this 2024 NFL Mock Draft, I was able to net the Denver Broncos the Dallas Cowboys second-round pick in 2025. The Cowboys are probably going to be a very good team again, so this pick might be near the bottom of the second round, but nonetheless, it's a high draft pick that Denver adds to their arsenal.
