There could be a ton of variance in the NFL this year. Let's predict each team's ceiling and floor record for the 2025 campaign. Devastating injuries, regressions from key players, or players breaking out can make or break a given season.
And each year in the NFL, there are teams that shock the world and win way more than we think and other teams that disappoint and just aren't nearly as good as previously thought. The 2025 NFL Season is not going to be any different, either.
We outlined each team's ceiling and floor record for the upcoming season. Let's get into it here.
Ceiling and floor records for each NFL team for the 2025 season
AFC North
Baltimore Ravens
Ceiling: 14-3
Floor: 9-8
The Baltimore Ravens could dominate the regular season as they have done for years now and win 14 games at most, but if Lamar Jackson is in and out of the lineup with injuries, which has happened before, their path to the playoffs gets a lot murkier.
Cincinnati Bengals
Ceiling: 12-5
Floor: 8-9
If the Cincinnati Bengals get their defense figured out and Trey Hendrickson back on the field, the team could finally sustain consistent success in the regular season and win 12 games, putting them in contention for the top seed in the AFC and the AFC North title.
Pittsburgh Steelers
Ceiling: 11-6
Floor: 7-10
Pittsburgh Steelers' head coach Mike Tomlin has never finished with a losing record during his time as a head coach in the NFL. That could remain the same in 2025 if Aaron Rodgers still has good football left and if these bold offseason moves pay off. However, if Rodgers is damaged goods and really hits a wall in 2025, the Steelers may finally have a losing record. If nothing else, this is a high-floor team.
Cleveland Browns
Ceiling: 6-11
Floor: 2-15
There isn't much going for the Cleveland Browns in the 2025 NFL Season. Their QB room alone is enough to 'sell' on this team. At best, they can win six games if Joe Flacco actually isn't terrible, but them barely being able to win a couple of games is also on the table.
AFC South
Houston Texans
Ceiling: 12-5
Floor: 9-8
The Houston Texans' remade their offensive line this offseason, and that unit a lot may be the biggest x-factor for this team in the 2025 NFL Season. If the unit comes together, Houston will be able to widen the gap in the AFC South and earn a couple more wins than they have in 2023 and 2024. A 12-win season is on the table, as this roster is also quite good. However, the OL struggling yet again in 2024 could bring the franchise back in a big way and leave them with more questions than answers.
Jacksonville Jaguars
Ceiling: 9-8
Floor: 4-13
Liam Coen's offensive genius could help the Jaguars to a modest 9-win season. There is a lot to fix with this franchise, so the success will be limited in 2025. However, there is a chance that Coen simply is not head coach material in the NFL, and that could bog the franchise down even more, perhaps only leaving them with four wins.
Indianapolis Colts
Ceiling: 9-8
Floor: 5-12
If one of Anthony Richardson or Daniel Jones can play with some degree of efficiency, the Indianapolis Colts could win nine games. It's really a shame, as this roster is good and has playmakers all over the place, but their ceiling is extremely limited with their current QB room, and the room could truly bottom-out and leave the franchise among the worst teams in the NFL with just five wins.
Tennessee Titans
Ceiling: 7-10
Floor: 3-14
Cam Ward and the Tennessee Titans could be a great team in 2026 or 2027, but the 2025 NFL Season is definitely going to be more of a 'rebuild year one' type of year. Ward is a project but could latch onto some success as the season goes on and lead the team to a seven-win season. They've got a strong defense, so that also helps, but a three-win season is also on the table if things just aren't close to developing yet.
AFC East
Buffalo Bills
Ceiling: 15-2
Floor: 10-7
With a schedule on the easier side for the 2025 NFL Season, the Buffalo Bills may finally be in line to finish with the top seed in the AFC and host throughout the NFL playoffs. That would be huge for their quest to win a Super Bowl. Buffalo's roster and QB are top-tier, but we have seen this team get in their own way sometimes, so they could lose games they should win and 'play down to their opponent.'
New England Patriots
Ceiling: 10-7
Floor: 6-11
One of my favorite teams for the 2025 NFL Season, the New England Patriots have all the makings of being a breakout team if Drake Maye catches on in a crucial year two. The coaching and offensive line now appear to be solid. However, this process could take a bit more time and go more like a traditional rebuild, so only scraping together six wins is possible.
Miami Dolphins
Ceiling: 10-7
Floor: 5-12
If Tua Tagovailoa is able to stay on the field for a full 17 games, the Miami Dolphins will finish with a winning record, but the roster itself is just OK, so they'd really need Tagovailoa to play well, but if it's another injury-riddled season, the Dolphins could kiss their playoff hopes goodbye and might not amount to much. They've got a very small margin for error this year.
New York Jets
Ceiling: 7-10
Floor: 4-13
A bad QB room and a year one coaching staff is going to greatly limit the New York Jets' ceiling in 2025, so them amounting to seven wins at most feels safe, but there is a chance that Aaron Glenn struggles to find his footing and Justin Fields unsurprisingly plays poorly. The Jets picking in the top-5 of the 2026 NFL Draft is their worst-case scenario in 2025.
AFC West
Kansas City Chiefs
Ceiling: 14-3
Floor: 10-7
The Kansas City Chiefs won all of their one-score games in the 2024 NFL Season, and while they're likely to not do that again, what if they do? It would be the most Chiefs' thing ever for this team to not skip a beat and just stack a metric-ton of wins in 2025. However, the wheels could begin to fall off and the margins for errors could get smaller. They were playing like a 10 or 11-win team in 2024, so perhaps that catches up to them this season.
Denver Broncos
Ceiling: 13-4
Floor: 9-8
With the best defense on paper in the NFL and an up-and-coming QB, the Denver Broncos have a path to the AFC West title and a strong 13-win season. They'd likely ride a top-7 offense and defense to the title and see Bo Nix creep up into elite talks. However, Nix could remain the same or even regress and the defense could also fail to adapt in what could be a very disappointing, playoff-less nine-win season.
Los Angeles Chargers
Ceiling: 12-5
Floor: 8-9
I am not sure the Los Angeles Chargers got all that better on paper this offseason, but year two of the Jim Harbaugh era could yield another win for the Bolts in what may be another encouraging season. However, Justin Herbert clearly has a ceiling and really isn't as good as we think. A low-ceiling offense might be their demise in 2025 and prevent them from building on an encouraging 2024 season.
Las Vegas Raiders
Ceiling: 8-9
Floor: 4-13
Having one of the worst rosters in the AFC, the Las Vegas Raiders are a ways away from competing. At best, Geno Smith and Pete Carroll could lead this team to eight wins. Smith could channel some of his 2022 season in the process, but this roster is truly flawed and could bottom-out in 2025 as Smith regresses even more.
NFC North
Detroit Lions
Ceiling: 13-4
Floor: 9-8
The Detroit Lions have been bitten by the injury bug ever since the 2024 NFL Season, as it has continued into this offseason. On paper, it's hard to argue that this roster isn't loaded, but you get the sense that losing both Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn and all of these injuries could bring the team down in 2025. If they get healthier and don't skip a beat, they should capture the title yet again, but a regression could be on the horizon with the losses they had.
Green Bay Packers
Ceiling: 13-4
Floor: 10-7
The Green Bay Packers could finally breakout and put it all together in the 2025 NFL Season. Them winning 13 games is on the table if Jordan Love takes another step forward and if the defense is stout as it usually is. However, there is always a possibility that the status quo remains, as they have won 20 regular season games since the start of 2023. They could again remain in that 9-11 win total, as the roster truly didn't get substantially better.
Minnesota Vikings
Ceiling: 12-5
Floor: 7-10
JJ McCarthy ideally has a season like Bo Nix and Jayden Daniels did in what is basically his rookie season. With an elite group of players around him and elite defense, the Vikings could win 12 games, but McCarthy may also play like a de-facto rookie QB and struggle at times. That could bring things down a bit.
Chicago Bears
Ceiling: 10-7
Floor: 5-12
The offense is the main factor here. Their rebuilt offensive line and Caleb Williams taking that next step could propel them to a shockingly good 10-win season with a Wild Card berth, but what if Caleb Williams is a lot more of a project that people think? What if the Bears endure another tough season?
NFC South
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Ceiling: 11-6
Floor: 8-9
I was honestly thinking for the longest time of picking the Atlanta Falcons to win the NFC South this year. While the Falcons absolutely can, Tampa Bay is the most talented team in the NFC South and should win the division again, but the ceiling is a bit lower than most division-winning teams. Them winning one more game from the previous season could be the best the Bucs do, but that isn't anything to scoff at. A regression from Baker Mayfield could make things tougher, tho.
Atlanta Falcons
Ceiling: 11-6
Floor: 6-11
The weaponry on offense is enough for second-year QB Michael Penix Jr to make a huge leap and to get the Atlanta Falcons back on the map, but the unknown that Penix still is coupled with the defense that needs to prove itself could again hold this team back in the 2025 NFL Season. We also don't really know if Raheem Morris is truly the right head coach for the job.
Carolina Panthers
Ceiling: 10-7
Floor: 4-13
Bryce Young did play quite well down the stretch for the Carolina Panthers in the 2024 NFL Season, so some have talked about a year three breakout. If Young did breakout, the Panthers could ride their QB to a modest 10-win season, as this roster truly does have a good bit of talent, but Bryce Young also just might not be a viable franchise QB in the NFL, so we have to keep the idea open that the Panthers aren't any good.
New Orleans Saints
Ceiling: 6-11
Floor: 0-17
I truly believe the New Orleans Saints could be the first winless team in the 17-game era. One of Tyler Shough or Spencer Rattler would have to play a lot better than expected for them to prevent this, but even their ceiling is quite low, as the QB room is bad and the rest of the roster is old and brittle.
NFC East
Washington Commanders
Ceiling: 13-4
Floor: 9-8
The Washington Commanders went 12-5 in the 2024 NFL Season and shocked the NFL world. On second look, though, this roster is actually not all that great. I do believe in this coaching staff a ton, so they and second-year QB Jayden Daniels would have to be the primary reason why the Commanders are able to win another game in 2025. However, the floor might be the classic example of a sophomore slump, as the low-ceiling roster could come back to bite them.
Philadelphia Eagles
Ceiling: 12-5
Floor: 9-8
The Super Bowl hangover for the Philadelphia Eagles is coming to a degree, but their roster is too talented for them to not finish with a winning record. I would not be shocked if Philly ended up going 10-7 or 11-6. Having a new offensive coordinator and losing several key players this offseason is going to have an impact on things.
Dallas Cowboys
Ceiling: 9-8
Floor: 6-11
If nothing else, the Dallas Cowboys should be efficient on offense, but a questionable RB room and soft defense is going to limit this team's potential in the 2025 NFL Season. Dallas could finish with a winning record if Dak Prescott plays well and the offense flirts with top-5 status. However, the status of Micah Parsons seems to be up in the air, so their floor is a sizeable regression from their ceiling in our predictionos.
New York Giants
Ceiling: 7-10
Floor: 2-15
Ideally, Russell Wilson enjoys a late-career renaissance and the New York Giants are competitive for most of the season, but the floor would look like multiple QBs getting starts in the regular season and surely some jobs lost within the coaching staff in the process. Overall, the New York Giants don't really have a ton going for them approaching the 2025 NFL Season.
NFC West
Los Angeles Rams
Ceiling: 13-4
Floor: 6-11
Right now, Matthew Stafford's back injury is not going away, so you have to wonder if he's going to even be ready for Week 1 of the 2025 NFL Season. If not, and if the Rams are starting backup QBs, this team isn't going to be very good, but after a 1-4 start in 2024, the Rams went 9-3 to finish the season, so this roster does have the talent to again win double-digit games. Stafford's health is going to be key here.
San Francisco 49ers
Ceiling: 11-6
Floor: 6-11
With the easiest schedule in the NFL, the San Francisco 49ers could rebound from their regression in 2024. The roster has lost a bit of talent in recent years, so this isn't the Super Bowl-caliber 49ers' team we are used to seeing. Their floor is probably what happened in 2024, as they're already dealing with a bit of an injury bug, and that might not go away.
Arizona Cardinals
Ceiling: 10-7
Floor: 7-10
On paper, the Arizona Cardinals are a good football team and did address their weakness this offseason, which was their defensive line. However, there is just something about Kyler Murray that has many people not ready to buy into the Cardinals. Murray is extremely talented, but he's never taken that next step and might have a lower ceiling as a franchise QB at this point. Arizona could win 10 games of all goes well but might again fail to finish with a winning record if not.
Seattle Seahawks
Ceiling: 9-8
Floor: 4-13
The Seattle Seahawks got worse this offseason, so that's neat. Sam Darnold isn't going to play nearly as well as he did in the 2024 NFL Season with the Minnesota Vikings, so not only is the ceiling low, but the floor is as well, as the offensive line still feels like a major area of concern.
