O.J. Atogwe Drawing Interest From Washington Redskins, Buffalo Bills

According to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, former St. Louis Rams safety O.J. Atogwe is drawing interest from the Washington Redskins and the Buffalo Bills.

The Bills also have been connected to former Indianapolis Colts safety Bob Sanders, who is expected to visit the team later this week.

Thomas says that, contrary to rumors, Atogwe did not visit the Redskins Monday as the coaches were given the day off for Presidents Day. Thomas also points out that, according to league sources, no visit was schedule as of Monday evening.

The interest in Atogwe from the Redskins makes sense since Jim Haslett was coaching in St. Louis when Atogwe first became a full-time starter back in 2006. The Skins have a few decent safeties in LaRon Landy, Reed Doughty, and Chris Horton, but Atogwe is an obvious upgrade over any of them and have shown an ability to play either safety position.

Atogwe is likely to draw interest from other teams around the league, but has said he will not sign until a new CBA is in place.

He has also voiced an interest in returning to the Rams at a reduced rate after the team cut him recently to avoid paying an $8 million roster bonus.

UPDATE: Atogwe is reportedly visiting the Redskins Tuesday.
