Looking Through The Crystal Ball With Ben Worthy

In the fun of football, I’m trying to compete against fellow staff member, Chris Smith, in bold predictions. Be fair warned, do not drink anything while reading this, or your computer screen will get soaked.

The Patriots will win the Super Bowl by a touchdown from Tom Brady as time expires.

Not too shocked? What if I say that will be Brady’s only touchdown pass? I do see him scoring two rushing TDs, though. The Giants have a great defense, and I think their defensive line will cause The Golden Child trouble all day. In the 2007 Super Bowl, the Giants threw a touchdown pass from Eli Manning late in the fourth quarter to win. I see that happening again, but for the Pats. Just to add a little drama, why not throw it up right before the clock strikes zero?

Ray Lewis will play two more seasons.

Even I have questions about this, because Lewis stated prior to the start of the season that he wanted to watch his sons play football more, and that he would retire after this season if the Ravens won the Super Bowl. That didn’t happen, and he’ll be back next season. Ray Lewis is the best linebacker to ever play the game, and I don’t see him settling for one Super Bowl ring. If the Ravens win the Lombardi Trophy next year, I think he would retire. But I see them winning it all in two more years.

Matt Ryan will win the MVP next season and the Falcons will win the Super Bowl.

Ryan had a lot of trouble this season. His timing was off, and he just wasn’t Matty Ice. This upcoming season, Roddy White will get his swagger back, with more yards, touchdowns, and less drops. Julio Jones will continue to progress after an impressive rookie season. Here’s the key to Ryan’s success though, the Falcons need to get another offensive guard during the offseason. If they can do that, the most prized trophy in sports is coming to Atlanta.
