It is a well known fact that Nike will be taking over as the official uniform supplier of the NFL next season and that has left fans wondering. What will Nike do to change the NFL uniforms? Will Nike be bringing the Pro Combat uniform system to the NFL?

Well, for now, it appears that the answer will be no. Don’t expect any major changes to NFL uniforms in Nike’s first season with the league.

Nike has recently released their Vapor Jet gloves and new cleats for the NFL during the Pro Bowl and that has gotten fans excited. However, the flashiness will likely not make it’s way to the team’s uniforms in the first year of the Nike – NFL contract.

Whispers are that Nike will be focusing on changing the materials in the first year of their deal. Nike has been revolutionary in the sports world when it comes to light-weight materials and allowing players to have full motion, without being bogged down by equipment.

Our friend Zac Snyder over at SideLion Report detailed why you shouldn’t expect Nike to take NFL uniforms to college extremes. It is definitely worth a read.

Of course, there will be some minor tweaks to some team’s uniforms, but it will not be anything that will blow your mind. There is full reason to be excited for Nike taking over as the NFL’s uniform supplier, but it will take a few years before we see anything drastic.
